Humanities 391 Research Description on Heroic Figure Currently, various heroes have done great things in the society. In this research paper, it is important to understand the images or ideas of heroes since they are pervasive, and they possess both universal and unique features. A hero is anyone rises up despite his or her station in life and acts as a representative of the highest level that any given person can attain in life. He knowingly and voluntarily comes up with a sensible decision in line with sacrificing something to help other people with no expectation of any compensation in the future. In this research paper, the hero described is Nelson Mandela born on 18 July 1918. He was a South African politician who became the president from 1994 to 1999. He passed away on 5 December 2013. He is a great hero who has influenced the lives of many people positively and changed the status of his country in terms of politics and economics. Nelson Mandela remains presented globally as a heroic figure and many people still remember him for his heroic actions that he carried during his entire lifetime. The figure of Mandela satisfies our desires for a pure heroic figure model. It is in terms of profoundly dignified as well as eloquently intelligent in his actions. The history provided by the liberal movement of South Africa is because of the heroic acts of Nelson Mandela. The heroism in him made him achieve his leadership skills, as he was able to lead the people during his term as the president. Thus, he had the required leadership power to help him rule the country with a lot of wisdom and knowledge on various aspects. The leader was able to change the liberation movement to something better. The movement is very different now as compared to the past. It is because Mandela had a permanent influence on the people in South Africa. As per the character and actions of Nelson Mandela, he proved that a true hero would abandon terrorism and would triumph through the strength of his will, purity of his vision, and clarity of his thoughts. Adding to his heroic actions, Nelson was willing to fight against injustice as well as racism whenever he discovered it. He also refused to bow to pressure of accepting injustice in order to be out of prison. He had the ability to put the main cause of justice, as well as freedom from oppression just before his personal safety. He was also an inspirational leader that proved he was a great hero worldwide, and his heroism is symbolic until today. Many modes of communications exist that I can specifically handle. The three common modes of communication include presentational, interpretive, and interpersonal modes of communication. These crucial modes can help me understand the heroic characteristics of Nelson Mandela and the heroic actions that he successfully carried out. Audio and text-based modes of communication can also assist me read more about the heroic actions of Nelson M.

A true great leader of his time, creating his dream and personal passion and motivation to ride South Africa of “Apartheid”, one man, one vote – he aspired followers to work toward his vision with his charisma, motivation, intelligence and being trust worthy. Why is he a visionary leader? His vision is clear and motivation is strong with the persistence endurance have inspired his followers to work together with him towards a vision. A vision that was for all people including native Africans to be granted the right to cast their vote in National Elections and that all citizens to be treated equally. Extreme differences from radical left wing to conservative right Violent clashes and public execution killing of AWB soldiers by Bophutatswana police AWB wanting a separate Afrikaner state, National Party initiated apartheid but also instrumental in the dissolution of it Environmental / Behaviour – “In my country we go to prison first and then become president.” Leader Behaviour - In prison... “in stable environments, change can be incremental, with most emphasis on managing the task and relationship” (Page 73 of Avery). Inspiration – “Only free men can negotiate; prisoners cannot enter into contracts. Your freedom and mine cannot be separated” (Page 73 of Avery). Consultative - Seeks participation, he adapted his behaviour for a win-win situation (Page 74 of Avery).
