4. BSBITU211 - Produce digital text documents
• This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to digitally
produce word documents in a workplace context.
• It applies to individuals who perform a range of routine tasks in the
workplace, using a limited range of practical skills and fundamental
knowledge of word processing software/applications in a defined
context, under direct supervision or with limited individual
responsibility.
5. Prepare to produce documents
1. Adjust workspace, furniture and equipment to suit user ergonomic
environments
2. Ensure workspace meets organisational work health and safety
requirements for digital device operation, taking into account the type of
device to be used
3. Identify document purpose, audience and presentation requirements,
and clarify with relevant personnel as required

design

8. What are digital text documents?
• Letters, invoices, statements of accounts, payslips, spreadsheets – any
digital file with text!
• Different formats – .doc .pdf .txt .ppt .rtf
• Depending on which system the organisation uses, may determine
which files are readable (Microsoft Windows, Apple Macintosh, Linux)
• Microsoft Windows operating systems are most commonly used in
many organisations – eg SWTAFE
• Word (text), Excel (tables), Outlook (mail), Powerpoint(Presentations)
9. Ergonomics
• Ergonomics is about creating comfortable working conditions by
adapting workstations, tools and equipment to each worker’s needs.
• Give three examples of how you can set up your workstation so it
meets the ergonomic requirements of your workplace.
1. Adjust your seat to the correct and comfortable height and angle,
depending on your height and distance from the table or desk
