Confraria Samba Choro emerged from the traditional choro groups promoted by the Raphael Rabello Choro School in Brasilia, Brasil, with a classical choro formation: mandolin, pandeiro (percussion), cavaquinho (brazilian 4 string guitar), 6 string guitar and percussion in general. The interaction and artistic affinity among the musicians caused them to fan out their sound to other musical genres, like bossa nova, samba de roda, samba de raiz, xote, baião; innovating with original musical arrangements, and gathering the best of MPB - Música Popular Brasileira (Brazilian Popular Music).
Today, the group is formed by André Luiz (7 string guitar), Danilo Dias (percussion and harmonica), Gustavo Nunes (percussion), Humberto Bruno Pontes (cavaquinho – brazilian 4 string guitar, Ukulele), Kalinka (voice and percussion) and Paulo Cézar (flute), and blends well-known and unknown songs, and traditional and recent songs.
Performing since 2008, Confraria Samba Choro has played in many of Brasilia’s cultural spaces, and in other brazilian states (Paraíba, Goiás, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais). In 2012, the group was invited to participate in the International Brazilian Culture Festival in Finland called Ginga na Mata. Confraria Samba Choro amazed the public and got them off their seats with the best of brazilian music.
