The target audience for the media product is males and females aged 16-25 who enjoy partying and club music. They would be interested in social media, dance music channels, movies, radio stations, and music magazines. The summary attracts this audience by using vibrant colors associated with electronic music on the magazine cover that mimic successful music magazines, drawing readers in with intriguing cover lines.
2. Who would be the audience for your
media product?
Gender?: Male and Female
Age range?: 16 – 25
Interests?: My target audience is looking generally at people who like to party and have good time with
their friends due to the type of music they listen to. My target audience would be interested in the
drinking scene as this type of music is associated with strobe lights, clubs and loud music much like
what you find in a place like Ibiza or Dubai. My target audience would be reasonably fashion
conscious as they want to look their best as they are young and would, more often than not aspire
to be like there idol in the music world.
What other types of Media might they consume?:
Social Networking – Facebook, Twitter, Instagram
Television – Dance music channels, comedy
Film/Movies – Comedy/ Horror
Radio Stations – Radio 1, Roundhouse
Music Magazine/app – mixmag
Being a younger generation, this age bracket are less likely to consume media products such as
newspapers as the technology they available to them is far more useful and efficient.
How would they spend their time?: This generation being younger would spend their time living mostly
indoors throughout the week and the day but come to the weekend this is where they go out with
friend and like to party this is the dubstep/dance music scene they follow.
3. How did you attract/ address your
target audience?
• Initially how I attracted my target audience to my music magazine was by
researching into other music magazines and looking at the techniques they use in
order to attract their target audience, this was by using the colour of the electronic
music scene in the house style of the magazine but more importantly on the cover.
For example I have used red and blue as a contrast on the front cover in my main
cover line which overlays the photograph. This is an effective way to attract the
target audience as they instantly recognise what the magazine is going to be like
from the vibrant colours from the main cover line but also the blue underlay
graphic on the masthead. I think I have been successful in attracting my target
audience as I have used techniques which other music magazines use which I have
learnt through extensive research into other music magazine of a similar genre to
mine. Also I think I have been successful in attracting and addressing my target
audience because I have used a technique in which a consumer would recognise
instantly as I have used the colours of the music scene in which I have tried to
recreate. Another way I have attracted my target audience is by using cover lines
which draw the reader in, for example I have used the word ‘revealed’ which
leaves the audience wondering what has been revealed therefore the magazine
gets a sale. “I really like the look of this magazine, it looks so professional, I could
really imagine it on sale in a shop next to all the other magazines. The colours
remind me of the night life in Ibiza!” – A Hogan.
