Making Meaning and Connecting
∙ I spent time thinking about problematic situations/data and pushed myself to learn about the
perspectives/lived experience of others as I made meaning
∙ I spent time explicitly connecting with colleagues across lines of difference to build
relationship and learn more about their lived experience
Systems Thinking
∙ I spent time thinking about our regional practices through an inclusiveness/equity lens
(distribution of power)
∙ I spent time making adjustments to some of our systems and structures with the goal to be
more inclusive and equitable
Organizing
∙ I spent time organizing my team and/or stakeholders around a central challenge in our
region connected to diversity, equity, and inclusiveness (ie. brainstorming in team meeting,
creating and holding meetings, organizing a task force/guiding coalition, etc.)
Learning & Reflection
∙ I spent time reflecting on my own leadership story, style, and values and how it intersects
with my personal identity
∙ I spent time seeking to understand how my leadership story, style, and values are
accessible to my team and how they impact my team
∙ I spent time intentionally learning about the lived experience of my team members (ie.
having lunch, checking in, experiencing something together, etc.)
Bridging
∙ I spent time bridging diverse stakeholders around key shared challenges (ie. parents and
teachers, staff members across lines of difference, grassroots community leaders and board
members, etc.)
