her deeds publicly declare her praise.
     • Fears the Lord
     • Find a woman who had more than beauty
     • Her achievements are a result of her Godly
       lifestyle.
Woman of Valor

• Eshet Chayil
  – Jewish Men sing the poem to his wife every
Sunday before eating the Shabbat evening
    meal.
  – Meant as a tribute to their wife, a blessing.
  – The poem is an acrostic poem: each line
begins with a letter of the Hebrew alphabet.
Woman of Valor

• Eshet Chayil
  – Eshet = woman
  – Chayil
    • to be firm or endure (Job 20:21)
    • Physical strength (Ps 18:40)
    • Moral strength (Ps 18:32)
    • Army (Ex 14:4)
    • Wealth (2 Ki 15:20)
Woman of Valor

• The eshet chayil in Proverbs 31 is wealthy
• The other eshet chayil in the old testament
is Ruth: poor and a refugee
• Boaz says to Ruth:
  – “And now, my daughter, don’t be afraid. I will
do for you all you ask. All the people of my
town know that you are a woman of noble
character (an eshet chayil).” Ruth 3:11
     • Cared for Naomi and worked hard in the fields.
Considers

• Proverbs 31:16 AMP
  – She considers a [new] field before she buys
or accepts it [expanding prudently and not
courting neglect of her present duties by
assuming other duties]; with her savings [of
time and strength] she plants fruitful vines in
    her vineyard.
Considers

• “considereth” (2161)
  – Hebrew: Zamam (Zaw-mam)
    • To have a thought, devise, plan, consider,
      purpose.
    • To consider, fix thought upon
    • To plot (of evil intent)
       – (The KJV old testament Hebrew Lexicon)
Considers

• It is more than inspecting the land
• It is also knowing how the purchase
will affect her life and the lives of her
  family.
• It is committing the matter to prayer
  before jumping in.
• Could this be our connection to her
  apparent calmness?
Considers

• When we take on too much, we can
start to get stressed out. When we try
to keep up with the people around us.
When we let the world dictate what we
need to do with our lives. Perhaps she
seems calm is that she doesn’t rush
into a decision, and she carefully
considers how anything new will affect
  her and her family.
She is busy, not idle

• Proverbs 19:15
• 2 Thessalonians 3:6-12
• 1 Timothy 5:11-15
Remember to rest

• Psalm 127: 1-2
• 1 Peter 5:7
• Mark 6:31 (Jesus actively seeks out rest)
• 1 Peter 3:4
• Psalm 131:2 (learn to calm & quiet
  ourselves)
• Philippians 4:6-7
Balance

• Balance
  – Not too busy, not too idle.
  – To carefully consider all things without
anxiety, weighing it to scripture, surrendering
    it to prayer.
Conclusion

• Topic:
  – Proverbs 31 wife seems calm & in control.
She’s not stressed out of her tree!!
Conclusion

• Being calm, in control and not stressed out
  comes from prayer, petition and
  thanksgiving. Then you will experience
God’s peace, which exceeds anything we
understand. His peace will guard your
hearts and minds as you live in Christ
  Jesus. (phil 4:6-7)
