 Write down your questions and ASK
 “Google” your questions!
 What is a “developmental disability”
 Access all local services
 If in a rural area, locate services in your county
 Learn the difference between ability, progress, and outcome
Don’t believe everything you are told
Do believe you can make the biggest difference in your
child’s outcome

1. Medical issues first – Every Brain Injury is Different!
• Areas of damage
• Consequences – much will be unknown
• Plasticity – brain maturity doesn’t occur until age 22
