This session will highlight the American River College SB70 Community Collaborative grant that is creating an apprenticeship pipeline for transportation infrastructure job openings – focusing on road, bridges, and levee/rails. The pipeline includes middle school, high school CTE/ROP, and community college.

12. Apprenticeship is formal
occupational training that combines paid
employment, on‐the‐job training and job related
college level instruction.
American River College apprenticeship instructors
are college faculty; apprenticeship coursework earns
college credit that can lead to an A.S. Degree.
Infrastructure pre‐apprenticeship promotes student
success while building and meeting the state’s
workforce needs.
13. Often apprenticeship programs lose up to 50% of their
apprentices in the first year. This is due to students
not being adequately prepared for the workforce
However, students completing pre‐apprenticeship
show increased retention and success in formal
apprenticeship training
