FOREWORD
This manual is for anyone who must install or use the Robur Calorio series gas fired
heating units.
This manual especially applies to the plumbers who must install the heating unit, to the
electrician who must connect the heating unit to the electrical system and to the end user
who must check that it functions properly.
This manual is also for the technicians regarding the principle maintenance operations.
Summary
This manual is composed of six sections:
Section 1 pertains to the end user, the plumbing installer, the electrical installer and to
the qualified service engineer; it provides general warnings, technical data and the
construction characteristics of the Calorio series heating units.
Section 2 is for the end user; it provides all the information necessary for the correct use
of the Calorio series heating units.
Section 3 is for the plumbing installer; it provides the necessary indications to the
plumber in order to perform the correct installation of the Calorio series heating units.
Section 4 is for the electrical installer; it provides the necessary information to the
electrician in order to perform the electrical connections of the Calorio series heating units.
Section 5 is for the qualified service engineer; it provides the instructions to regulate the
flow of gas and to perform the gas conversion. It also gives indications regarding
maintenance.
Section 6 is for the end user, the plumbing installer, the electrical- installer and the
qualified service engineer. It contains information concerning the accessories available
for the Calorio series.
For rapid access to the sections, refer to the relative graphical icons (see Table 2)
contained in the right margin of the odd-numbered pages.

SECTION 1 GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS AND TECHNICAL
CHARACTERISTICS
In this section there will be general instructions to be followed for the installation and use
of gas fired convectors Calorio series, a short paragraph about the operation of the gas
convectors, their main characteristics and the technical data.
1.1 GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
This manual is an integral and essential part of this product and must be given to the end
user.
This unit must be exclusively used for the purpose it was intended. Any other use is to be
considered improper and therefore dangerous.
The manufacturer cannot be held responsible for any damage resulting from incorrect
installation or failure to comply with the manufacturer’s instructions.
The unit must be installed respecting the internal laws.
Do not obstruct the intake air of the fan neither the outlet air grid.
In case of failure and/or bad/poor operation, stop the unit (shut off the gas supply)
do not attempt any repair or direct servicing. Call only qualified service engineer.
Any misapplication of the above instructions can compromise the safety of the unit.
To ensure the efficiency of the unit and its proper operation, it is essential that a qualified
service engineer carry out annual maintenance in accordance with the manufacturer’s
instructions.
Qualified service engineers are those having specific technical experience in
the installation of heating units for residential applications, designated by a local authority.
Should the unit be sold or transferred to another owner, ensure that the manual remains
with the unit for the use of the new owner and/or the installer.
Before starting the unit, qualified personnel must check:
- that the electrical and the gas supply ratings do exactly correspond to those
shown on the original rating plate.
- that the exhaust flue and the inlet air supply are properly installed.
- that the combustion air feed and exhaust are properly fitted in accordance with
the existing standards.
- the proper internal and external sealing of the combustion apparatus
- that fuel flow control is in accordance with the unit power requirements.
- that the unit is fed with the specific type of fuel for which it has been pre-set.

- that the fuel supply pressure is within rated limits.
- that the fuel supply system is suitable for the unit and that all safety and control
devices required by the existing standards are duly installed
Do not use gas pipes to earth electric apparatus.
Avoid unnecessary supply when the unit is not in use and always close the gas valve.
In case of prolonged absence isolate the main gas inlet valve to the unit and disconnect
all electric supply.
IF YOU SMELL GAS
• do not activate electric switches, telephones or any other object or device that
may cause sparks.
• shut off gas supply.
• immediately open doors and windows to create drafts of air that purify the room.
• call for qualified servicing engineer.

1.2 PRODUCT DESCRIPTION AND MAIN OPERATING
CHARACTERISTICS
The Calorio gas heater, is an independent heating product with an isolated combustion
chamber and forced draught.
It has been projected to be installed indoor.
It can operate either with natural gas and liquid propane gas (category II2H3+, type C13,
regulation EN 1266).
The combustion air intake and the exhaust of fumes are external to the system through
two coaxial pipes and are drawn by the operation of an electric fan placed in the
combustion circuit. Therefore, the unit will have to be installed on an external perimeter
wall or close to it depending on the maximum extension of the coaxial pipe system (see
section Errore. L'origine riferimento non è stata trovata. ”Installation”).
The operation principle of the Calorio range is based on a convective movement of the
ambient air. The air going through the unit is drawn upwards and heated then diffused in
the ambient through the outlet grille. Particularly models 42, 51 and 52 are defined as
”ventilated” since the movement of ambient air is due to the presence of a fan placed in
the lower section of the unit. Except model 41, which is defined as ”static” since the
convective motion is natural.
The operation of the unit is very simple and completely automatic thanks to the
thermostatic regulation and the programmable timer (standard equipment on models 42
and 52, optional on the other models): The end user only needs to start the unit, choose
the desired temperature (to be selected on the thermostat) and, for the models 42 and 52,
set the operation period of the unit on the programmable timer.
The isolated combustion chamber is a best safety feature for the premises where the unit
is to be installed: there is no risk of leakage of the combustion products and neither
oxygen necessary for the combustion has been taken from indoor. It is not necessary
the installation of any grid or openings for the ventilation of the ambient.
A special flame detection device, that operates through a ionization flame sensor,
immediately stops the gas supply in case the flame accidentally goes off.
Models 42 and 52 grant a higher comfort thanks to an air humidifier placed on the left
hand side of the unit.
Additionally model 52 can also operate in summer time (the fan can work while the burner
is off). This allows a pleasant summer ventilation (movement of room air).

1.3 MAIN COMPONENTS
Calorio gas fired convectors are equipped with:
- Combustion chamber and stainless steel tubular heat exchanger patented
with very high efficiency;
- Control box with set of the ambient temperature;
- Centrifugal fan (patented) with double anti vibration system (model 41
excluded);
- Flue blower;
- Security device with ionisation flame sensor;
- Programmable timer (for models 42 and 52);
- Air humidifier (for models 42 and 52);
- Double power min- max (for model 52);
- Summer ventilation (for model 52);
- Coaxial pipes for combustion air intake and exhaust flue Ø 49/35 mm;
- Wall external stainless steel terminal (patented) min. dimensions;
- Panel plate painted with epoxy powder, available in three colours: beige, white
and grey.

SECTION 2 END USER SECTION
In this section you will find all information necessary to let Calorio gas convectors
functioning in a correct way.
The functioning of Calorio gas convectors is leaded by the ambient thermostat equipped
with all models and, in models 42 and 52, by the programmable timer.
2.1 HOW TO START AND TURN OFF THE GAS CONVECTOR
The first start up of the unit must be carried out by qualified service engineer.
Before turning the unit on the qualified service engineer must check:
• That the values shown on the unit plate are exactly the same as the ones of the
electric and gas supply.
• The unit adjustment actually responds to the unit operating capacity.
• The proper working of air inlet and fume exhaust flue system (in accordance with
the existing regulations).

START UP (HEATING)
To have: the gas convector connected to the electrical and gas network.
1. Open the gas supply valve.
2. Supply electricity to the convector by connecting the tri pole wiring
3. For models 42 and 52 set the timer according the end user specific requirements
(see ”programmed timer” section, model 42 and 52).
Set ”E” key (see Figure 2 )
manual/programmed on the desired system of operation of the unit: loose key - MAN
position in case the unit is required to operate through the room thermostat or
pressed key - AUTO position in case the unit is required to operate also by means of
the programmed timer.
4. Turn the B knob for temperature regulation at the highest desired temperature (see
Figure 2).
5. After 30 seconds approx. the gas valve opens and the ignition electrode starts
sparkling for a max. of 10 seconds.
6. In presence of flame the ignition electrode stops automatically the sparkling keeping
the unit on; the green light D will be on (see Figure 2).
The light on of the green light D indicates the correct functioning of the convector.
7. On the contrary the control box will block the unit and the blower will stop, this
function is characterised by the permanent “on” of the red light C (see Figure 2).
The light on of the red light C indicates the flame block of the convector.
In order to let the unit restart it is necessary to press the reset button (A) for models
41, 42 and 51, while for the model 52 it is necessary to press twice the reset button
(H) (see Figure 2).
8. Once the convector is on, turn the thermostat knob clockwise to increase the room
temperature and in the opposite way to decrease it.
The values shown on the thermostat knob are typical. The temperature value is
dependent upon the environment where the unit has been installed. An actual
relationship between the thermostat value and the room temperature can be
achieved by measuring the temperature of the room at a certain thermostatic
regulating value.
9. In the model 52 pressing the G key (see Figure 2) a higher output can be selected
for a quick warming of the room or a minimum output rate can be selected to
maintaining the existing temperature value. The fan starts operating automatically
only when it receives demand from the fan thermostat, and the exchanger is heated
this in order to avoid the cold air draught in the room. The fan will turn off when the
exchanger is cold.

HUMIDIFER (models 42 and 52)
For a higher comfort the convectors models 42 and 52
have been equipped with a humidifier. Its use is very simple.
It is enough to fill in periodically, by means of
a funnel, the small tank located on the left side
of the unit (see Figure 3)

The use of water low in limestone is advisable (possibly use distilled water) in order
to prevent any possible calcareous sedimentation that may be difficult to remove.
Also anti calcareous tablets for humidifiers are commercially available. The
humidifier capacity is 0,35 litres.
TEMPORARY TURNING OFF
To have: the gas convector connected to the electrical and gas network.
1. To temporarily stop the unit turn the thermostat knob to the minimum temperature.
Turning the thermostat to the minimum values, temperature will
be regulated some degrees above zero value. This will prevent
freeze-up.
For all models equipped with time programmer (42 and 52) the unit can temporarily be
stopped by turning the ”A” key to the O position. (see Figure 2).
Do not turn down power to switch off the units. This procedure can ruin the
equipment.
SUMMER VENTILATION (model 52)
To have: the gas convector connected to the electrical network.
1. Close the gas valve and check that the electrical supply will be on.
By pressing the summer/winter H key (see Figure 2) , only the fan starts working.
This will allow a light and pleasant ventilation of the ambient air.

SEASONAL STOP
To have: the gas convector connected to the electrical and gas network.
1. Close the gas valve.
2. Cut off the electrical supply.

KEYS FUNCTIONING
On / Off switch
Position I: The appliance is controlled by the room thermostat. In this
condition the functioning of the gas convector depends ONLY
from the temperature set on the ambient thermostat: it will not
follow any program of the timer.
Position AUTO: The appliance is controlled by the timer and the room thermostat.
In this condition the gas convector works ONLY during the
starting hours set on the timer when there is heat demand
(ambient temperature lower than the one set on the ambient
thermostat).
Position O: The appliance is turned off

CHARACTERISTICS

- Blocks of programme due to the repetition of timing insertions:
1-2-3-4-5 (Monday to Friday)
1-2-3-4-5-6 (Monday to Saturday)
1-2-3-4-5-6-7 (Monday to Sunday)
6-7 (Saturday to Sunday)
- Minimum duration of conversion 1 minute.
- Quick surge: keeping pulled any selection button, the surge will become quicker.
- N°16 available programs (8 ON and 8 OFF).
SET AND PROGRAMMING OF THE TIMER
STARTING CONDITIONS
- Position the right selector B (see Figure 4) in RUN position.
Press reset R button (see Figure 4). The indicator on the display
will blink.
- If reset R button will be pressed (see Figure 4) when the selector
B is in position, on the display will appear the error warning
EEE. Moving the selector B in RUN position the advice will
disappear; press R button again to return to the previous position.
- If B selector will be moved in position, the indication on the
display will remain fixed.
- If B selector will be moved in RUN position, the advice on the
display will remain fixed, but if there will be the double point, then
it will blink.
- If B selector will be moved in position, the advice on the
display will blink. On the display will appear the light symbol (☼)
and the written 1 and 1.
SET THE TIME AND THE DAY
To have: the B selector in position.
1. We plan to set 15:16 hours on Wednesday.
2. Set the day of the week.
Pressing the button 1...7 (button D of Figure 4) triangular index
inch of one unit. Number 1 is Monday, number 2 is Tuesday
and so on.
3. Set of the hour and minutes.
In order to obtain 15:16 h press button h for the hours, button m
for minutes. The advice on the display will advance every time

you will press the button. Keeping pressed the button over 2
seconds the surging will become quicker until you will stop
pressing the button.
4. After having set the day and the hour, move the right B selector in the RUN position.
The advice on the display is fixed, but the double point will blink.
SET THE ON/OFF PROGRAMS
The timer has 16 programs:
● n.8 ON programs (1-3-5-7-9-11-13-15)
● n.8 OFF programs (2-4-6-8-10-12-14-16)
The starting program of the unit is visible thanks to the lamp on the right side of the
display.
When the lamp does not appear on the display it means that’s an OFF programme
To have: The B selector in position. The advice on the display blinks and on the
right side of the display they appear the writing 1 and 1 and the lamp symbol
corresponds to the ON programme.
1. Press the button 1...7 to set the day or the days we want the
start of the units (for example Tuesday corresponds, on the
display, to the day n°2). To set the starting timetable desired
press button h for the hours and the button m for the minutes
(for example 9 and 3 minutes). At each pressure of the button
the advice on the display will advance. Keeping pressed the
button over 2 sec., the surging will become quicker until you
will stop pressing the button.
2. Press the button (ref. C of Figure 4). On the right side of the
display it will appear the number 2 without the symbol of the
lamp corresponding to the OFF programme.
3. Press the button 1...7 to set once again the same day or the
same days previously chosen for the ON programme 1
(Tuesday in the example). To set the OFF hour press the
button h and the button m for the minutes(in the example 11h e 4
min.).
4. Repeat from point 1 to point 3 to set other ON/OFF programs.
In the case of same ON/OFF timetable during the week, programming will be easier
if we utilise blocks of days:
● 1-2-3-4-5 (from Monday to Friday)
● 1-2-3-4-5-6 (from Monday to Saturday)
● 1-2-3-4-5-6-7 (from Monday to Sunday)
● 6-7 (Saturday and Sunday)

5. Once the programming will be finished it is better to control and check not having
set programs in conflict among them in order to avoid ON and/or OF not desired.
Pressing the button the various ON/OFF set programs will be displayed.
6. Move the selector B in the RUN position of the standard use of the timer. On the
display will appear the advice of the day, of the current hour; the written 1 and the
symbol of the lamp will appear or not depending if it will be an ON period or an OFF
period.
Programs set will be active ONLY from the day after to the one they have been
set.
CANCEL A SINGLE PROGRAM
To cancel a single programme, please proceed as follows:
1. Move the right selector (see ref. B of Figure 4) in position.
2. Press the button and choose the programme we want to
cancel.
5. Press contemporary button and button SKIP (see ref. G of
Figure 4) for at least 2 sec. and the set programme will erase.
6. The advise of erase will be indicated on the display by the
continuous blinking of the figures 0:00.
CANCEL ALL PROGRAMS, HOUR AND DAY
To cancel all the programs and the set hour press the reset R button and keep pressing it
for at least 2 sec. All the programs and hour the day, previously set, will be cancelled.
THE SKIP FUNCTION (PROGRAM SKIP)
To have: the timer with the hour, the date and the functioning/starting set programs.
1. Move the right selector (see ref B of Figure 4) in RUN position.
2. Press SKIP button (see ref. G of Figure 4) to bypass the
present programming, and then resume the functioning set to
the following service demand. This function is indicated on the
display by using the symbol of crossed arrow (skip symbol).
3. Skip function could be revised any time, by pressing SKIP
button one more time. The functioning will re start with the
programs set and the skip symbol will disappear from the
display.
Skip functioning could be activated only in RUN position.

SECTION 3 PLUMBER INSTALLER
In this section you can find all the necessary instructions to install Calorio Series room
heaters from the hydraulic point of view.
3.1 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR CALORIO SERIES
The installation shall be made, according to the Manufacturer’s instructions, by qualified
service engineers.
By Qualified Service Engineers we mean the personnel with specific technical
skills in the field of the heating system components. In any case, if you need more
information please contact the Pre-Sale Department of ROBUR S.p.A. (tel. +39
035/888111).
An incorrect installation can cause damages to people, animals and property. In case of
erroneous installation, the Manufacturer cannot be held responsible for such damages.
The installation must be performed in compliance with the existing European laws, rules
and regulations referred to gas and electrical appliances.
In particular it must be respected all related to the distance between the flue terminal and
windows, balconies, gutters, etc., and distances to the soil or to the sidewalk.
The terminal does not require any type of protection.
For the correct installation is required to respect the following conditions:
- The gas convector must be installed indoor on an external perimeter wall or closet
o it, respecting the distances indicated in Figura 1.
- The minimum recommended distance from the basement is 8 cm (see Figura 1)
and possibly not superior to 35 cm because, for bigger height there will be a non
uniform distribution of the heat in the building.
- Keep a minimum distance of 10 cm between the sides of the gas convector and
any type of object in order to permit the dismounting and re mounting of the panel.
- If a bracket would be left on the unit, a space of 10 cm (at least) must be
considered.
- Make sure that it exists an adequate furniture and network of gas.
- Make sure that it exists an adequate connection to the electrical network (230V
50Hz).

3.2 EXHAUST AND AIR INTAKE PIPES
Exhaust/air intake pipes of Calorio gas convectors could be realised as follows:
• With coaxial pipes and exit on the wall of installation (length max pipes 1 meter)
(see Figure 5).
• With coaxial pipes and exit 90° (length max pipes 1 metro) (see Figure 6). In this
case it is necessary to use a 90° bend for coaxial exhaust outlet available as
accessory (see Section accessoriy).

3.3 SEQUENCE OF INSTALLATION
With reference to the installation project, prepare gas supply and electrical supply lines
and holes for exhaust outlet and intake air for combustion.
INSTALL THE CONVECTOR ON THE WALL
1. Before unpacking the unit check that the external packaging is in good condition and
that no damage has occurred during transportation, if so promptly contact your
supplier
2. Unpack the unit from its protection wrapping, slip off the inlet and outlet flues first.
DO NOT THROW AWAY THE TEMPLATE where a drilling guide for the correct
installation of the unit is given.
3. Fix the template to the wall where the unit is to be installed making sure it is
perpendicular to the floor.
4. Drill a hole (Ø 50 mm) to locate the main pipe as well as the A holes (see, Figure 8)
to fix the support bracket (drill 6 mm holes for the insertion of the support frame).
The Ø 50 mm hole for the type of installation described here above can be realised
by a rotary cutter (see Section accessoriy) or smaller holes realised by a simple
drilling machine on the perimeter.
5. Adapt the length of the pipes (exhaust outlet and intake air) to the effective depth of
the wall, cutting the exceeding part: for the exact length see Figure 7.
In the Ø 49 pipe do not cut the side with the edging that will be used for fixing the
pipe.
In the Ø 35 pipe do not cut the side with a skirted end that will be necessary to
connect the pipe to the unit.
6. Remove the template from the wall.

7. Locate the supporting bracket and the air pipe Ø 49, making sure that the pipe edge
perfectly enters the matching hole in the supporting frame (see Figure 8).
8. Fix the supporting bracket with the screws and place the adhesive seal around the
air inlet pipe hole (see Figure 8).
9. Locate the auto adhesive seal in sponge material on the support frame (place it on
the back of the unit) as indicated in Figure 9. Try to avoid re positioning which could
bring difficulties.
10. Match the extreme part of the exhaust pipe (Ø 35 mm) on the unit stub pipe(Figure
10).
11. Install the gas convector to the wall leaning edge C present on the inferior edge of
the frame to the supporting bracket, as indicated in Figure 11.

12. Match the edges B to the extremity A of the supporting frame and press the unit
against the wall, in the way it remains fixed to the frame support (see Figura 12).
13. Fix the unit to the supporting frame by using the two side screws as indicated in
Figura 12.

CONNECT THE CONVECTOR TO GAS NETWORK
1. The connection to the gas network must be done with a rigid copper or steel pipe
and fittings; as alternative it could be also utilised a flexible stainless steel pipe.
2. Connect the gas pipe to the nipple you find on the right bottom part of the gas
convector. (see ref. A of Figure 13 and Figure 14).
The connection to the gas pipe must be carefully sealed in order to grant the leak-
tightness by using a sealer according to the EN 751-1 and EN 751-2 law.
The connection must be realised without any tension to the pipe or to other
components of the unit.
Provide a shut-off cock on the gas network, in vertical position and easily
accessible, as required in the norms about gas installations.

THE TERMINAL GRID INSTALLATION
1. Locate the terminal grid in aluminium to the external wall perfectly matching the pipe
end and draw the location of the three holes for the screw anchors (see Figure 15).
The terminal grid must be mounted with the outlet flue in vertical position.
2. Displace the terminal and drill the holes (Ø 6 for the screw anchors provided with the
unit).
3. Relocate the terminal and fix it with the screws (see Figure 15).

SECTION 4 ELECTRICAL INSTALLER
In this section you can find all the necessary instructions to make the electrical
connections for the Calorio Series gas fired convectors.
To have: the gas convector installed.
The electrical connections must be made by qualified personnel. Before
performing this operation, cut off the electrical supply.
1. Check that the supply voltage is 230V - 50Hz mono phase.
2. In order to connect the electrical power to the electrical network it is sufficient to wire
the tri- pole plug, furnished with the unit, as indicated in Figure 16 by using a 3x0,75
mm2
cable.
3. Connect the tri- pole plug previously wired in the socket positioned in the bottom
right part of the unit.
We have the total electrical security only when the unit is correctly connected to a
good earth connection, made as previewed by security local norms. Do not use gas
pipes as earth connection of electrical units.

SECTION 5 MAINTENANCE AND SERVICING
In this section you can find a few maintenance suggestions and the instructions which are
necessary to technical assistants in order to adjust the gas valve and replace the gas.
5.2 HOW TO ADJUST THE GAS VALVE
The gas feeding circuit is provided with a gas valve equipped with double knock and
pressure regulator to control the gas inlet flow. All models are supplied to operate with
natural gas and are equipped with an LPG conversion kit. During the final tests each
unit is set to operate with natural gas. After installation it is necessary to check the
pressure to the burner. All controls must be carried out with an operating unit free from its
outer casing.
The gas valve adjustment must be performed by qualified personnel. To this
regard, ROBUR S.p.A. can dispose of a network of Assistance Centres which can be
reached through the point of sale, the local agent or by calling directly the Customer
Assistance of ROBUR S.p.A. (tel. +39 035/888111).
NATURAL GAS FEEDING
MODELS 41, 42 AND 51
To have: the gas convector installed and connected to the electrical and gas
network.
1. Remove the cover.
2. Connect a pressure gauge in A (see Figure 18), after having removed the sealing
screw.
3. Turn on the unit (see “START UP (HEATING) paragraph” at page 15).
4. Portare il termostato alla massima richiesta di calore.
5. Regulate the feeling pressure to the burner at the requested value (see Table 3 at
page 11) by means of B regulator (Figure 18) in clockwise sense to increase it, in the
opposite way to decrease it (use a screwdriver for this operation).
6. Turn off the unit, disconnect the pressure gauge, re- fix the sealing screw.
After the setting operation, it is obligatory to seal the regulation screws of the valve.
7. Re-mount the cover.

2. Position the summer/winter switch (see ref. H of Figure 2 at page 13) on winter
mode.
3. Remove the plastic cover C of the gas valve (see Figure 19).
4. Connect a pressure gauge in position E of Figure 19.
5. Turn on the unit (see paragraph “START UP (HEATING)”) at page 15.
6. Regulate the pressure to the burner, using B screw (see Figure 19), to the requested
value (see Table 3 at page 11), in clockwise sense to increase it and in the opposite
way to decrease it (use a setscrew wrench n.10).
7. Proceed to the pressure regulation at the reduced heating power as indicated here
below.
MODEL 52 – REGULATION FOR REDUCED HEAT OUTPUT
8. Press max/min key (see ref. G of Figure 2 at page 12). In this way the unit will run at
the reduced heating power.
9. Keeping unmoved the screw B, set by means of screw A the pressure of reduced
heating power at the requested value (see Table 3 at page 11), in clockwise sense
to increase it and in the opposite way to decrease it (use a screwdriver).
10. Relocate the plastic cover C.
After the setting operation turn off and turn on the unit again and verify that the
pressures to the burner are correct. If necessary repeat the operation.
After the setting operation it is obligatory to seal the screws of valve regulation.

11. Re- mount the cover.

5.3 LPG CONVERSION
To change feeding from natural gas to LPG it is necessary to modify the unit using the
LPG conversion kit that is supplied as standard supplied with the unit. Follow the
instructions detailed in ”conversion to another type of gas” section and proceed as follows:
PRESSURE REGULATION TO THE BURNER FOR MODELS 41, 42 AND 51
To have: the gas convector installed and connected to the electrical and gas
network.
1. Remove the cover.
2. Connect a pressure gauge in A (see Figure 18), after having removed the sealing
screw.
3. Turn on the unit (see paragraph “START UP (HEATING)” at page 15).
4. The maximum operating pressure only depend on the distribution network pressure
level which needs to be adequately regulated at 30 mbar (for G30 gas) or at 37
mbar (for G31 gas). The decreasing of the network pressure is possible by using
suitable first stage pressure regulators, close to the liquid gas tank, to reduce the
pressure to 1,5 bar and a second stage pressure regulator from 1,5 to 0,03 or 0,037
bar close to the unit (reducers have to be installed always outdoor). Therefore it is
necessary exclude the pressure regulator by closing completely the screw B of
Figure 18.
In the case it could not be reached the adequate setting, operate on
the second stage regulator.
5. Turn off the unit, disconnect the pressure gauge and re- fix the seal screw.
After the setting operation it is obligatory to seal the screws of gas regulation.

6. Re- mount the cover.
MODEL 52 – REGULATION FOR MAXIMUM HEAT OUTPUT
To have: the gas convector installed and connected to the electrical and gas
network.
1. Remove the cover.
2. Position the summer/winter switch (see ref. H of Figure 2 at page 13) on winter
mode.
3. Remove the plastic cover C of the gas valve (see Figure 19).
4. Connect a pressure gauge in position E of Figure 19.
5. Turn on the unit (see paragraph “START UP (HEATING)”) at page 15.
6. Exclude the pressure regulator closing completely the screw B (see Figure 19). In
this way the pressure to the burner is directly related to the network pressure; ensure
then to have a 30 mbar in the gas network (for gas G30) or a 37 mbar pressure (for
gas G31). The network pressure level can be reduced by using a special first stage
pressure reducers, placed close to the liquid propane tank, to reduce the pressure to
1,5 bar and a second stage reducer from 1,5 to 0,03 or 0,037 bar close to the unit
(reducers must be installed always outdoor).
7. Proceed with the pressure setting at the reduced heating output as indicated here
below.
MODEL 52 – REGULATION FOR REDUCED HEAT OUTPUT
8. Verify that B screw is completely closed.
9. Press max/min switch (see ref. G of Figure 2 at page 13). In this way the unit will run
at the reduced heat output.
10. Keeping unmoved B screw, set by means of screw A the pressure of reduced
heating power to the requested value (see Table 3 at page 11), in clockwise sense
to increase it and in the opposite sense to decrease it (use a screwdriver).
11. Relocate the plastic cover C.
After the setting, turn off and turn on the unit and verify that the pressures at the
burner are correct. If necessary repeat the operation.
After the setting operation it is obligatory to seal the screws of valve regulation.
12. Re- mount the cover.

5.4 HOW TO REPLACE THE BURNER INJECTOR
The gas replacement operation must be performed by qualified personnel. A
wrong, incorrect or imprudent installation of the gas circuit can cause very dangerous gas
leaks on all the circuit and in particular in the tampered areas. Moreover, use suitable
sealants on all fittings. If the type of gas indicated on the label does not match that to be
used, the appliance must be converted and adapted to the desired type of gas.
For this operation proceed as follows:
CONVERSION FROM NATURAL GAS TO LPG
To have: the gas convector installed and connected to the electrical and gas
network.
1. Cut off electricity and gas supply.
2. Remove the casing from the frame and disconnect grounding cable.
3. Unscrew the B plug with the help of a n°19 wrench (see Figure 20).
4. With a socket wrench n°10 introduced in the opening, unscrew the A nozzle support
(see Figure 20).
5. Unscrew the gauged nozzle C from the nozzle support A and replace it (see Figure
20).
6. Retighten the assemble nozzle support and the burner nozzle.
7. Relocate the B plug.
8. Start up the unit and check the gas seal of the plug B.
9. Proceed to a new set as described in the paragraph 5.
10. Replace the ”NATURAL GAS ” label with ”LPG” one.
11. Connect the grounding cable and re- mount the casing.

CONVERSION FROM LPG TO NATURAL GAS

5.5 SAFETY DEVICES
A) Isolation of electrical supply: the unit stop working and the gas valve closes.
When the electricity will be re connected the units will re start automatically.
B) Lack of gas or any other cause of the flame extinguishing: the unit will
automatically try to re start for 10 seconds, afterwards in case of lack of flame
ignition the control box will stop the units and the combustion air blower.
C) Overheating: if during the operation of the unit the fan stops working, or in case the
upper heated air outlet should obstruct, the safety thermostat will immediately cut off
the electricity supply to the valve, cutting off the gas flow to the burner. To restore
the working operations wait 10 minutes approximately in order to let the temperature
drop. Clear electric supply, remove the shell and reset the unit pressing the reset
key positioned on the safety thermostat inside the unit (see ref A of Figure 21 or
Figure 22). If a similar inconvenient should occur again in a short period, a service
qualified engineer should be contacted.

5.6 IMPROPER OPERATING PROCEDURES
Before making any direct control on the unit, make sure that:
- There is a full electricity supply.
- There is a full gas supply
- The feeling pressure to the burner is within the tolerances given.
Only after all the above checks have been successfully carried out, a specific trouble
shooting could commence.
Before removing the casing to access to the electrical control box CUT OFF
POWER SUPPLY to the unit by means the bi- polar switch positioned on the upper
part of the unit, or remove the electrical plug.
CASE 1:
THE UNIT LOCKS OUT DURING THE FIRST PHASE OF START UP
A) The gas flow is not enough. Verify that all manual valves and gas taps are open. In
case the unit has not been used for a long time, it could be due to some air in the
pipes. Reset it 3, 4 times and the unit will restart.
B) The plug polarity is not correct: verify it. In case you use an external plug, remove it,
turn it 180° and plug in it.
C) The ignition electrode is broken or improperly installed: replace it or reposition it
properly.
D) The flame sensor is broken or improperly installed: replace it or reposition it
properly.
For a correct ignition the distance between the two ignition electrodes should be 3-5
mm.
E) One of the ignition electrode or the wire cable are in touch with the shell or any other
metallic part: verify it removing the shell.
F) Ignition components failure: replace it
CASE 2:
THE UNIT LOCKS OUT DURING OPERATION
A) The safety thermostat stopped the gas valve to avoid overheating caused by:
• Obstruction on the upper heated air outlet. Remove the obstruction
• Fan failure (models 42, 51 and 52); replace it.
B) Failure to the ventilation thermostat (models 42, 51 and 52). The ventilation
thermostat does not permit the fan to work properly; replace it.
C) Failure to the gas valve; replace the coil or the gas valve.
In case of gas valve replacement it is necessary, as requested by local norms, seal
the nozzle support with a conforming sealing to the norms (ideal for gas seal).
D) Bad connection of safety thermostat; check cables and connections.

5.7 CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
The only maintenance activity required is a periodical and proper cleaning of the external
panel (to be carried out always when the unit is cold and without any solvent) and the
removing of dust that can remain on the heat exchanger and on the fan.
An annual maintenance service and cleaning of the unit is recommended, calling the
qualified Service Authorised Company. Regarding the periodical maintenance of the unit,
respect the local norms.
5.8 SERVICING
For all installation, start up and maintenance service contact qualified service engineers.
Before calling for servicing, please make sure that the manual as well as all the unit
technical data is available namely:
- product serial number
- unit model
- type of gas
- brief description of the installation

  • 4. Prefazione 3 FOREWORD This manual is for anyone who must install or use the Robur Calorio series gas fired heating units. This manual especially applies to the plumbers who must install the heating unit, to the electrician who must connect the heating unit to the electrical system and to the end user who must check that it functions properly. This manual is also for the technicians regarding the principle maintenance operations. Summary This manual is composed of six sections: Section 1 pertains to the end user, the plumbing installer, the electrical installer and to the qualified service engineer; it provides general warnings, technical data and the construction characteristics of the Calorio series heating units. Section 2 is for the end user; it provides all the information necessary for the correct use of the Calorio series heating units. Section 3 is for the plumbing installer; it provides the necessary indications to the plumber in order to perform the correct installation of the Calorio series heating units. Section 4 is for the electrical installer; it provides the necessary information to the electrician in order to perform the electrical connections of the Calorio series heating units. Section 5 is for the qualified service engineer; it provides the instructions to regulate the flow of gas and to perform the gas conversion. It also gives indications regarding maintenance. Section 6 is for the end user, the plumbing installer, the electrical- installer and the qualified service engineer. It contains information concerning the accessories available for the Calorio series. For rapid access to the sections, refer to the relative graphical icons (see Table 2) contained in the right margin of the odd-numbered pages.

Sezione generalità e caratteristiche tecniche 7 SECTION 1 GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS AND TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS In this section there will be general instructions to be followed for the installation and use of gas fired convectors Calorio series, a short paragraph about the operation of the gas convectors, their main characteristics and the technical data. 1.1 GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS This manual is an integral and essential part of this product and must be given to the end user. This unit must be exclusively used for the purpose it was intended. Any other use is to be considered improper and therefore dangerous. The manufacturer cannot be held responsible for any damage resulting from incorrect installation or failure to comply with the manufacturer’s instructions. The unit must be installed respecting the internal laws. Do not obstruct the intake air of the fan neither the outlet air grid. In case of failure and/or bad/poor operation, stop the unit (shut off the gas supply) do not attempt any repair or direct servicing. Call only qualified service engineer. Any misapplication of the above instructions can compromise the safety of the unit. To ensure the efficiency of the unit and its proper operation, it is essential that a qualified service engineer carry out annual maintenance in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. Qualified service engineers are those having specific technical experience in the installation of heating units for residential applications, designated by a local authority. Should the unit be sold or transferred to another owner, ensure that the manual remains with the unit for the use of the new owner and/or the installer. Before starting the unit, qualified personnel must check: - that the electrical and the gas supply ratings do exactly correspond to those shown on the original rating plate. - that the exhaust flue and the inlet air supply are properly installed. - that the combustion air feed and exhaust are properly fitted in accordance with the existing standards. - the proper internal and external sealing of the combustion apparatus - that fuel flow control is in accordance with the unit power requirements. - that the unit is fed with the specific type of fuel for which it has been pre-set.

Avoid unnecessary supply when the unit is not in use and always close the gas valve. In case of prolonged absence isolate the main gas inlet valve to the unit and disconnect all electric supply. IF YOU SMELL GAS • do not activate electric switches, telephones or any other object or device that may cause sparks. • shut off gas supply. • immediately open doors and windows to create drafts of air that purify the room. • call for qualified servicing engineer.

Sezione generalità e caratteristiche tecniche 9 1.2 PRODUCT DESCRIPTION AND MAIN OPERATING CHARACTERISTICS The Calorio gas heater, is an independent heating product with an isolated combustion chamber and forced draught. It has been projected to be installed indoor. It can operate either with natural gas and liquid propane gas (category II2H3+, type C13, regulation EN 1266). The combustion air intake and the exhaust of fumes are external to the system through two coaxial pipes and are drawn by the operation of an electric fan placed in the combustion circuit. Therefore, the unit will have to be installed on an external perimeter wall or close to it depending on the maximum extension of the coaxial pipe system (see section Errore. L'origine riferimento non è stata trovata. ”Installation”). The operation principle of the Calorio range is based on a convective movement of the ambient air. The air going through the unit is drawn upwards and heated then diffused in the ambient through the outlet grille. Particularly models 42, 51 and 52 are defined as ”ventilated” since the movement of ambient air is due to the presence of a fan placed in the lower section of the unit. Except model 41, which is defined as ”static” since the convective motion is natural. The operation of the unit is very simple and completely automatic thanks to the thermostatic regulation and the programmable timer (standard equipment on models 42 and 52, optional on the other models): The end user only needs to start the unit, choose the desired temperature (to be selected on the thermostat) and, for the models 42 and 52, set the operation period of the unit on the programmable timer. The isolated combustion chamber is a best safety feature for the premises where the unit is to be installed: there is no risk of leakage of the combustion products and neither oxygen necessary for the combustion has been taken from indoor. It is not necessary the installation of any grid or openings for the ventilation of the ambient. A special flame detection device, that operates through a ionization flame sensor, immediately stops the gas supply in case the flame accidentally goes off. Models 42 and 52 grant a higher comfort thanks to an air humidifier placed on the left hand side of the unit. Additionally model 52 can also operate in summer time (the fan can work while the burner is off). This allows a pleasant summer ventilation (movement of room air).

The functioning of Calorio gas convectors is leaded by the ambient thermostat equipped with all models and, in models 42 and 52, by the programmable timer. 2.1 HOW TO START AND TURN OFF THE GAS CONVECTOR The first start up of the unit must be carried out by qualified service engineer. Before turning the unit on the qualified service engineer must check: • That the values shown on the unit plate are exactly the same as the ones of the electric and gas supply. • The unit adjustment actually responds to the unit operating capacity. • The proper working of air inlet and fume exhaust flue system (in accordance with the existing regulations).   • 16. Sezione utente 15 START UP (HEATING) To have: the gas convector connected to the electrical and gas network. 1. Open the gas supply valve. 2. Supply electricity to the convector by connecting the tri pole wiring 3. For models 42 and 52 set the timer according the end user specific requirements (see ”programmed timer” section, model 42 and 52). Set ”E” key (see Figure 2 ) manual/programmed on the desired system of operation of the unit: loose key - MAN position in case the unit is required to operate through the room thermostat or pressed key - AUTO position in case the unit is required to operate also by means of the programmed timer. 4. Turn the B knob for temperature regulation at the highest desired temperature (see Figure 2). 5. After 30 seconds approx. the gas valve opens and the ignition electrode starts sparkling for a max. of 10 seconds. 6. In presence of flame the ignition electrode stops automatically the sparkling keeping the unit on; the green light D will be on (see Figure 2). The light on of the green light D indicates the correct functioning of the convector. 7. On the contrary the control box will block the unit and the blower will stop, this function is characterised by the permanent “on” of the red light C (see Figure 2). The light on of the red light C indicates the flame block of the convector. In order to let the unit restart it is necessary to press the reset button (A) for models 41, 42 and 51, while for the model 52 it is necessary to press twice the reset button (H) (see Figure 2). 8. Once the convector is on, turn the thermostat knob clockwise to increase the room temperature and in the opposite way to decrease it. The values shown on the thermostat knob are typical. The temperature value is dependent upon the environment where the unit has been installed. An actual relationship between the thermostat value and the room temperature can be achieved by measuring the temperature of the room at a certain thermostatic regulating value. 9. In the model 52 pressing the G key (see Figure 2) a higher output can be selected for a quick warming of the room or a minimum output rate can be selected to maintaining the existing temperature value. The fan starts operating automatically only when it receives demand from the fan thermostat, and the exchanger is heated this in order to avoid the cold air draught in the room. The fan will turn off when the exchanger is cold.

Linea Calorio – Radiatori individuali a gas – Libretto d’installazione, uso e manutenzione 16 HUMIDIFER (models 42 and 52) For a higher comfort the convectors models 42 and 52 have been equipped with a humidifier. Its use is very simple. It is enough to fill in periodically, by means of a funnel, the small tank located on the left side of the unit (see Figure 3) For a higher comfort the convectors models 42 and 52 have been equipped with a humidifier. Figure 3 –Humidifier location The use of water low in limestone is advisable (possibly use distilled water) in order to prevent any possible calcareous sedimentation that may be difficult to remove. Also anti calcareous tablets for humidifiers are commercially available. The humidifier capacity is 0,35 litres. TEMPORARY TURNING OFF To have: the gas convector connected to the electrical and gas network. 1. To temporarily stop the unit turn the thermostat knob to the minimum temperature. Turning the thermostat to the minimum values, temperature will be regulated some degrees above zero value. This will prevent freeze-up. For all models equipped with time programmer (42 and 52) the unit can temporarily be stopped by turning the ”A” key to the O position. (see Figure 2). Do not turn down power to switch off the units. This procedure can ruin the equipment. SUMMER VENTILATION (model 52) To have: the gas convector connected to the electrical network. 1. Close the gas valve and check that the electrical supply will be on. By pressing the summer/winter H key (see Figure 2) , only the fan starts working. This will allow a light and pleasant ventilation of the ambient air. Water filling hole

Cut off the electrical supply. 2.2 PROGRAMMABLE TIMER (models 42 and 52) Figure 4 – Programmable timer KEYS FUNCTIONING On / Off switch Position I: The appliance is controlled by the room thermostat. In this condition the functioning of the gas convector depends ONLY from the temperature set on the ambient thermostat: it will not follow any program of the timer. Position AUTO: The appliance is controlled by the timer and the room thermostat. In this condition the gas convector works ONLY during the starting hours set on the timer when there is heat demand (ambient temperature lower than the one set on the ambient thermostat). The indicator on the display will blink. - If reset R button will be pressed (see Figure 4) when the selector B is in position, on the display will appear the error warning EEE. Moving the selector B in RUN position the advice will disappear; press R button again to return to the previous position. - If B selector will be moved in position, the indication on the display will remain fixed. - If B selector will be moved in RUN position, the advice on the display will remain fixed, but if there will be the double point, then it will blink. - If B selector will be moved in position, the advice on the display will blink. On the display will appear the light symbol (☼) and the written 1 and 1. SET THE TIME AND THE DAY To have: the B selector in position. 1. We plan to set 15:16 hours on Wednesday. 2. After having set the day and the hour, move the right B selector in the RUN position. The advice on the display is fixed, but the double point will blink. SET THE ON/OFF PROGRAMS The timer has 16 programs: ● n.8 ON programs (1-3-5-7-9-11-13-15) ● n.8 OFF programs (2-4-6-8-10-12-14-16) The starting program of the unit is visible thanks to the lamp on the right side of the display. When the lamp does not appear on the display it means that’s an OFF programme To have: The B selector in position. The advice on the display blinks and on the right side of the display they appear the writing 1 and 1 and the lamp symbol corresponds to the ON programme. 1. Press the button 1...7 to set the day or the days we want the start of the units (for example Tuesday corresponds, on the display, to the day n°2). To set the starting timetable desired press button h for the hours and the button m for the minutes (for example 9 and 3 minutes). At each pressure of the button the advice on the display will advance. Keeping pressed the button over 2 sec., the surging will become quicker until you will stop pressing the button. 2. Press the button (ref. C of Figure 4). On the right side of the display it will appear the number 2 without the symbol of the lamp corresponding to the OFF programme. 3. Press the button 1...7 to set once again the same day or the same days previously chosen for the ON programme 1 (Tuesday in the example). To set the OFF hour press the button h and the button m for the minutes(in the example 11h e 4 min.). 4. Repeat from point 1 to point 3 to set other ON/OFF programs. Once the programming will be finished it is better to control and check not having set programs in conflict among them in order to avoid ON and/or OF not desired. Pressing the button the various ON/OFF set programs will be displayed. 6. Move the selector B in the RUN position of the standard use of the timer. On the display will appear the advice of the day, of the current hour; the written 1 and the symbol of the lamp will appear or not depending if it will be an ON period or an OFF period. Programs set will be active ONLY from the day after to the one they have been set. CANCEL A SINGLE PROGRAM To cancel a single programme, please proceed as follows: 1. Move the right selector (see ref. B of Figure 4) in position. 2. Press the button and choose the programme we want to cancel. 5. Press contemporary button and button SKIP (see ref. G of Figure 4) for at least 2 sec. and the set programme will erase. 6. The advise of erase will be indicated on the display by the continuous blinking of the figures 0:00. CANCEL ALL PROGRAMS, HOUR AND DAY To cancel all the programs and the set hour press the reset R button and keep pressing it for at least 2 sec. All the programs and hour the day, previously set, will be cancelled. THE SKIP FUNCTION (PROGRAM SKIP) To have: the timer with the hour, the date and the functioning/starting set programs. 1. Move the right selector (see ref B of Figure 4) in RUN position. 2. Press SKIP button (see ref. G of Figure 4) to bypass the present programming, and then resume the functioning set to the following service demand. This function is indicated on the display by using the symbol of crossed arrow (skip symbol). 3. Skip function could be revised any time, by pressing SKIP button one more time. The functioning will re start with the programs set and the skip symbol will disappear from the display. Sezione installatore idraulico 21 SECTION 3 PLUMBER INSTALLER In this section you can find all the necessary instructions to install Calorio Series room heaters from the hydraulic point of view. 3.1 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR CALORIO SERIES The installation shall be made, according to the Manufacturer’s instructions, by qualified service engineers. By Qualified Service Engineers we mean the personnel with specific technical skills in the field of the heating system components. In any case, if you need more information please contact the Pre-Sale Department of ROBUR S.p.A. (tel. +39 035/888111). An incorrect installation can cause damages to people, animals and property. In case of erroneous installation, the Manufacturer cannot be held responsible for such damages. The installation must be performed in compliance with the existing European laws, rules and regulations referred to gas and electrical appliances. In particular it must be respected all related to the distance between the flue terminal and windows, balconies, gutters, etc., and distances to the soil or to the sidewalk. The terminal does not require any type of protection. For the correct installation is required to respect the following conditions: - The gas convector must be installed indoor on an external perimeter wall or closet o it, respecting the distances indicated in Figura 1. - The minimum recommended distance from the basement is 8 cm (see Figura 1) and possibly not superior to 35 cm because, for bigger height there will be a non uniform distribution of the heat in the building. - Keep a minimum distance of 10 cm between the sides of the gas convector and any type of object in order to permit the dismounting and re mounting of the panel. - If a bracket would be left on the unit, a space of 10 cm (at least) must be considered. - Make sure that it exists an adequate furniture and network of gas. - Make sure that it exists an adequate connection to the electrical network (230V 50Hz).

Linea Calorio – Radiatori individuali a gas – Libretto d’installazione, uso e manutenzione 22 L max = 1 meter 3.2 EXHAUST AND AIR INTAKE PIPES Exhaust/air intake pipes of Calorio gas convectors could be realised as follows: • With coaxial pipes and exit on the wall of installation (length max pipes 1 meter) (see Figure 5). • With coaxial pipes and exit 90° (length max pipes 1 metro) (see Figure 6). In this case it is necessary to use a 90° bend for coaxial exhaust outlet available as accessory (see Section accessoriy). Sezione installatore idraulico 23 3.3 SEQUENCE OF INSTALLATION With reference to the installation project, prepare gas supply and electrical supply lines and holes for exhaust outlet and intake air for combustion. INSTALL THE CONVECTOR ON THE WALL 1. Before unpacking the unit check that the external packaging is in good condition and that no damage has occurred during transportation, if so promptly contact your supplier 2. Unpack the unit from its protection wrapping, slip off the inlet and outlet flues first. DO NOT THROW AWAY THE TEMPLATE where a drilling guide for the correct installation of the unit is given. 3. Fix the template to the wall where the unit is to be installed making sure it is perpendicular to the floor. 4. Drill a hole (Ø 50 mm) to locate the main pipe as well as the A holes (see, Figure 8) to fix the support bracket (drill 6 mm holes for the insertion of the support frame). The Ø 50 mm hole for the type of installation described here above can be realised by a rotary cutter (see Section accessoriy) or smaller holes realised by a simple drilling machine on the perimeter. 5. Adapt the length of the pipes (exhaust outlet and intake air) to the effective depth of the wall, cutting the exceeding part: for the exact length see Figure 7. In the Ø 49 pipe do not cut the side with the edging that will be used for fixing the pipe. In the Ø 35 pipe do not cut the side with a skirted end that will be necessary to connect the pipe to the unit. 6. Remove the template from the wall. Locate the supporting bracket and the air pipe Ø 49, making sure that the pipe edge perfectly enters the matching hole in the supporting frame (see Figure 8). 8. Fix the supporting bracket with the screws and place the adhesive seal around the air inlet pipe hole (see Figure 8). 9. Locate the auto adhesive seal in sponge material on the support frame (place it on the back of the unit) as indicated in Figure 9. Try to avoid re positioning which could bring difficulties. 10. Match the extreme part of the exhaust pipe (Ø 35 mm) on the unit stub pipe(Figure 10). 11. Install the gas convector to the wall leaning edge C present on the inferior edge of the frame to the supporting bracket, as indicated in Figure 11. The connection to the gas network must be done with a rigid copper or steel pipe and fittings; as alternative it could be also utilised a flexible stainless steel pipe. 2. Connect the gas pipe to the nipple you find on the right bottom part of the gas convector. (see ref. A of Figure 13 and Figure 14). The connection to the gas pipe must be carefully sealed in order to grant the leak- tightness by using a sealer according to the EN 751-1 and EN 751-2 law. The connection must be realised without any tension to the pipe or to other components of the unit. Provide a shut-off cock on the gas network, in vertical position and easily accessible, as required in the norms about gas installations. Locate the terminal grid in aluminium to the external wall perfectly matching the pipe end and draw the location of the three holes for the screw anchors (see Figure 15). The terminal grid must be mounted with the outlet flue in vertical position. 2. Displace the terminal and drill the holes (Ø 6 for the screw anchors provided with the unit). 3. Sezione installatore elettrico 29 SECTION 4 ELECTRICAL INSTALLER In this section you can find all the necessary instructions to make the electrical connections for the Calorio Series gas fired convectors. To have: the gas convector installed. The electrical connections must be made by qualified personnel. Before performing this operation, cut off the electrical supply. 1. Check that the supply voltage is 230V - 50Hz mono phase. 2. In order to connect the electrical power to the electrical network it is sufficient to wire the tri- pole plug, furnished with the unit, as indicated in Figure 16 by using a 3x0,75 mm2 cable. 3. Connect the tri- pole plug previously wired in the socket positioned in the bottom right part of the unit. We have the total electrical security only when the unit is correctly connected to a good earth connection, made as previewed by security local norms. Sezione assistenza tecnica 31 SECTION 5 MAINTENANCE AND SERVICING In this section you can find a few maintenance suggestions and the instructions which are necessary to technical assistants in order to adjust the gas valve and replace the gas. 5.2 HOW TO ADJUST THE GAS VALVE The gas feeding circuit is provided with a gas valve equipped with double knock and pressure regulator to control the gas inlet flow. All models are supplied to operate with natural gas and are equipped with an LPG conversion kit. During the final tests each unit is set to operate with natural gas. After installation it is necessary to check the pressure to the burner. All controls must be carried out with an operating unit free from its outer casing. The gas valve adjustment must be performed by qualified personnel. To this regard, ROBUR S.p.A. can dispose of a network of Assistance Centres which can be reached through the point of sale, the local agent or by calling directly the Customer Assistance of ROBUR S.p.A. (tel. +39 035/888111). NATURAL GAS FEEDING MODELS 41, 42 AND 51 To have: the gas convector installed and connected to the electrical and gas network. 1. Remove the cover. 2. Connect a pressure gauge in A (see Figure 18), after having removed the sealing screw. 3. Turn on the unit (see “START UP (HEATING) paragraph” at page 15). 4. Portare il termostato alla massima richiesta di calore. 5. Regulate the feeling pressure to the burner at the requested value (see Table 3 at page 11) by means of B regulator (Figure 18) in clockwise sense to increase it, in the opposite way to decrease it (use a screwdriver for this operation). 6. Turn off the unit, disconnect the pressure gauge, re- fix the sealing screw. After the setting operation, it is obligatory to seal the regulation screws of the valve. 7. Re-mount the cover.

MODEL 52 – REGULATION FOR MAXIMUM HEAT OUTPUT To have: the gas convector installed and connected to the electrical and gas network. 1. Remove the cover. 2. Position the summer/winter switch (see ref. H of Figure 2 at page 13) on winter mode. 3. Remove the plastic cover C of the gas valve (see Figure 19). 4. Connect a pressure gauge in position E of Figure 19. 5. Turn on the unit (see paragraph “START UP (HEATING)”) at page 15. 6. Regulate the pressure to the burner, using B screw (see Figure 19), to the requested value (see Table 3 at page 11), in clockwise sense to increase it and in the opposite way to decrease it (use a setscrew wrench n.10). 7. Proceed to the pressure regulation at the reduced heating power as indicated here below. MODEL 52 – REGULATION FOR REDUCED HEAT OUTPUT 8. Press max/min key (see ref. G of Figure 2 at page 12). In this way the unit will run at the reduced heating power. 9. Keeping unmoved the screw B, set by means of screw A the pressure of reduced heating power at the requested value (see Table 3 at page 11), in clockwise sense to increase it and in the opposite way to decrease it (use a screwdriver). 10. Relocate the plastic cover C. After the setting operation turn off and turn on the unit again and verify that the pressures to the burner are correct. If necessary repeat the operation. After the setting operation it is obligatory to seal the screws of valve regulation. A B

Figure 19 – Valve kit for model 52 5.3 LPG CONVERSION To change feeding from natural gas to LPG it is necessary to modify the unit using the LPG conversion kit that is supplied as standard supplied with the unit. Follow the instructions detailed in ”conversion to another type of gas” section and proceed as follows: PRESSURE REGULATION TO THE BURNER FOR MODELS 41, 42 AND 51 To have: the gas convector installed and connected to the electrical and gas network. 1. Remove the cover. 2. Connect a pressure gauge in A (see Figure 18), after having removed the sealing screw. 3. Turn on the unit (see paragraph “START UP (HEATING)” at page 15). 4. The maximum operating pressure only depend on the distribution network pressure level which needs to be adequately regulated at 30 mbar (for G30 gas) or at 37 mbar (for G31 gas). The decreasing of the network pressure is possible by using suitable first stage pressure regulators, close to the liquid gas tank, to reduce the pressure to 1,5 bar and a second stage pressure regulator from 1,5 to 0,03 or 0,037 bar close to the unit (reducers have to be installed always outdoor). Therefore it is necessary exclude the pressure regulator by closing completely the screw B of Figure 18. In the case it could not be reached the adequate setting, operate on the second stage regulator. 5. Turn off the unit, disconnect the pressure gauge and re- fix the seal screw. After the setting operation it is obligatory to seal the screws of gas regulation. E B C A C

MODEL 52 – REGULATION FOR MAXIMUM HEAT OUTPUT To have: the gas convector installed and connected to the electrical and gas network. 1. Remove the cover. 2. Position the summer/winter switch (see ref. H of Figure 2 at page 13) on winter mode. 3. Remove the plastic cover C of the gas valve (see Figure 19). 4. Connect a pressure gauge in position E of Figure 19. 5. Turn on the unit (see paragraph “START UP (HEATING)”) at page 15. 6. Exclude the pressure regulator closing completely the screw B (see Figure 19). In this way the pressure to the burner is directly related to the network pressure; ensure then to have a 30 mbar in the gas network (for gas G30) or a 37 mbar pressure (for gas G31). The network pressure level can be reduced by using a special first stage pressure reducers, placed close to the liquid propane tank, to reduce the pressure to 1,5 bar and a second stage reducer from 1,5 to 0,03 or 0,037 bar close to the unit (reducers must be installed always outdoor). 7. Proceed with the pressure setting at the reduced heating output as indicated here below. MODEL 52 – REGULATION FOR REDUCED HEAT OUTPUT 8. Verify that B screw is completely closed. 9. Press max/min switch (see ref. G of Figure 2 at page 13). In this way the unit will run at the reduced heat output. 10. Keeping unmoved B screw, set by means of screw A the pressure of reduced heating power to the requested value (see Table 3 at page 11), in clockwise sense to increase it and in the opposite sense to decrease it (use a screwdriver). 11. Relocate the plastic cover C. After the setting, turn off and turn on the unit and verify that the pressures at the burner are correct. If necessary repeat the operation. After the setting operation it is obligatory to seal the screws of valve regulation. 12. Re- mount the cover.
  • 36. Sezione assistenza tecnica 35 5.4 HOW TO REPLACE THE BURNER INJECTOR The gas replacement operation must be performed by qualified personnel. A wrong, incorrect or imprudent installation of the gas circuit can cause very dangerous gas leaks on all the circuit and in particular in the tampered areas. Moreover, use suitable sealants on all fittings. If the type of gas indicated on the label does not match that to be used, the appliance must be converted and adapted to the desired type of gas. For this operation proceed as follows: CONVERSION FROM NATURAL GAS TO LPG To have: the gas convector installed and connected to the electrical and gas network. 1. Cut off electricity and gas supply. 2. Remove the casing from the frame and disconnect grounding cable. 3. Unscrew the B plug with the help of a n°19 wrench (see Figure 20). 4. With a socket wrench n°10 introduced in the opening, unscrew the A nozzle support (see Figure 20). 5. Unscrew the gauged nozzle C from the nozzle support A and replace it (see Figure 20). 6. Retighten the assemble nozzle support and the burner nozzle. 7. Relocate the B plug. 8. Start up the unit and check the gas seal of the plug B. 9. Proceed to a new set as described in the paragraph 5. 10. Replace the ”NATURAL GAS ” label with ”LPG” one. 11. Connect the grounding cable and re- mount the casing. Cut off electricity and gas supply. 2. Removing the casing from the frame disconnect the grounding cable. 3. Unscrew B plug with the help of a n°19 wrench (see Figure 20). 4. With a socket wrench n°10 introduced in the opening, unscrew the nozzle support A (see Figure 20). 5. Unscrew the gauged nozzle C from the nozzle support A and replace it (see Figure 20). 6. Retighten the assemble nozzle and the burner nozzle. 7. Relocate the B plug. 8. Start up the unit and check the gas seal of the plug B. Proceed to a new set as described in the paragraph The gas valve adjustment must be performed by qualified personnel.   • 38. Sezione assistenza tecnica 37 5.5 SAFETY DEVICES A) Isolation of electrical supply: the unit stop working and the gas valve closes. When the electricity will be re connected the units will re start automatically. B) Lack of gas or any other cause of the flame extinguishing: the unit will automatically try to re start for 10 seconds, afterwards in case of lack of flame ignition the control box will stop the units and the combustion air blower. C) Overheating: if during the operation of the unit the fan stops working, or in case the upper heated air outlet should obstruct, the safety thermostat will immediately cut off the electricity supply to the valve, cutting off the gas flow to the burner. To restore the working operations wait 10 minutes approximately in order to let the temperature drop. Clear electric supply, remove the shell and reset the unit pressing the reset key positioned on the safety thermostat inside the unit (see ref A of Figure 21 or Figure 22). If a similar inconvenient should occur again in a short period, a service qualified engineer should be contacted. Linea Calorio – Radiatori individuali a gas – Libretto d’installazione, uso e manutenzione 38 5.6 IMPROPER OPERATING PROCEDURES Before making any direct control on the unit, make sure that: - There is a full electricity supply. - There is a full gas supply - The feeling pressure to the burner is within the tolerances given. Only after all the above checks have been successfully carried out, a specific trouble shooting could commence. Before removing the casing to access to the electrical control box CUT OFF POWER SUPPLY to the unit by means the bi- polar switch positioned on the upper part of the unit, or remove the electrical plug. CASE 1: THE UNIT LOCKS OUT DURING THE FIRST PHASE OF START UP A) The gas flow is not enough. Verify that all manual valves and gas taps are open. In case the unit has not been used for a long time, it could be due to some air in the pipes. Reset it 3, 4 times and the unit will restart. B) The plug polarity is not correct: verify it. In case you use an external plug, remove it, turn it 180° and plug in it. C) The ignition electrode is broken or improperly installed: replace it or reposition it properly. D) The flame sensor is broken or improperly installed: replace it or reposition it properly. For a correct ignition the distance between the two ignition electrodes should be 3-5 mm. E) One of the ignition electrode or the wire cable are in touch with the shell or any other metallic part: verify it removing the shell. F) Ignition components failure: replace it CASE 2: THE UNIT LOCKS OUT DURING OPERATION A) The safety thermostat stopped the gas valve to avoid overheating caused by: • Obstruction on the upper heated air outlet. Remove the obstruction • Fan failure (models 42, 51 and 52); replace it. B) Failure to the ventilation thermostat (models 42, 51 and 52). The ventilation thermostat does not permit the fan to work properly; replace it. C) Failure to the gas valve; replace the coil or the gas valve. In case of gas valve replacement it is necessary, as requested by local norms, seal the nozzle support with a conforming sealing to the norms (ideal for gas seal). D) Bad connection of safety thermostat; check cables and connections.
  • 40. Sezione assistenza tecnica 39 5.7 CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE The only maintenance activity required is a periodical and proper cleaning of the external panel (to be carried out always when the unit is cold and without any solvent) and the removing of dust that can remain on the heat exchanger and on the fan. An annual maintenance service and cleaning of the unit is recommended, calling the qualified Service Authorised Company. Regarding the periodical maintenance of the unit, respect the local norms. 5.8 SERVICING For all installation, start up and maintenance service contact qualified service engineers. Before calling for servicing, please make sure that the manual as well as all the unit technical data is available namely: - product serial number - unit model - type of gas - brief description of the installation
