INTRODUCTION :
 In fact that a large percentage of electricity is being
generated by using natural sources such as coal, gas etc.
By the end of this century coal will be almost extinct.
 PELAMIS WAVE POWER is the world’s first
commercial scale machine to generate electricity in to
the grid from offshore wave energy.
 Among the various options of Non conventional
sources of energy the WAVE ENERGY is considered as
the best option for the production of electricity.
why wave energy?
 To protect the environment for future generations.
 To reduce the carbon emissions of greenhouse gases and
consumption of limited resources.
 wave energy is the one of the most environmentally nature
friendly form of electricity generation.
 Wave energy could play a major part in the world’s efforts
to combat climate change.
 It potentially displaces 1–2 billion tonnes of CO2 per
annum from conventional fossil fuel generating sources.
Pelamis Wave Power
 The Pelamis Wave Energy Converter is a semi-
submerged, articulated structure composed of
cylindrical sections linked by hinged joints.
The Pelamis Wave Energy Converter also known as
GAINT SEA SNAKE .
CONSTRUCTIONAL DETAILS :
 Each pelamis machine is of 120 mts long.
 It has a diameter of 3.5 mts.
 Each pelamis machine has three power conversion modules.
 Each machine is rated to produce 750 KW.
Depending on the wave resource, machines will on
average produce 25-40% of the full rated output over the
course of a year.
Working process
• Waves resisted by
hydraulic rams.
• Hydraulic rams pump
high pressure oil to
hydraulic motors.
• Hydraulic motors drive
electrical generators.
PRODUCTION OF PELAMIS :
 Power module fabrication
 Tube fabrication
 Final assembly
 The power conversion modules contains the power
capture systems.
 The module consists of a fabricated and a painted
steel structure that is installed with motor generator
set, hydraulic Cylinders, and electrical control cabins.
 POWER MODULE FABRICATION :
 TUBE FABRICATION :
 The main structural fabrication consists of steel tubes,
nose
and yoke sections.
 The nose section is installed with transformer, switch
gear and
control system and is commissioned.
 Each tube is fitted with cabling and connecting
transists
to ensure the correct displacement.
 FINAL ASSEMBLY :
 The completed module and tube segments are joined
together to complete the assembly of the machine.
 These joints can be made both on the land and in the
water depending upon facilities used.
 The fully assembled machine undergoes
commissioning
at on-site installation.
 100% available technology.
 No maintenance carried out at offshore site.
 Minimum work on-site..
 Lowest kWh costs in the market.
 Each machine can provide sufficient power to
meet the annual electricity demand of
approximately
500 UK Homes.
ADVANTAGES :
Disadvantages
Disturbance or destruction of marine life (including
changes in the distribution and types of marine life near the
shore.
Once device is damaged we must replace with new device.
It is the world’s first commercial scale
machine to generate electricity in to the grid from
offshore waveenergy. It promises to be efficient
one.
So our request is to
“save energy,
save the world,
save ourselves”.

INTRODUCTION :  In fact that a large percentage of electricity is being generated by using natural sources such as coal, gas etc. By the end of this century coal will be almost extinct.  PELAMIS WAVE POWER is the world’s first commercial scale machine to generate electricity in to the grid from offshore wave energy.  Among the various options of Non conventional sources of energy the WAVE ENERGY is considered as the best option for the production of electricity.
  • 4. why wave energy?  To protect the environment for future generations.  To reduce the carbon emissions of greenhouse gases and consumption of limited resources.  wave energy is the one of the most environmentally nature friendly form of electricity generation.  Wave energy could play a major part in the world’s efforts to combat climate change.  It potentially displaces 1–2 billion tonnes of CO2 per annum from conventional fossil fuel generating sources.

  • 6. Pelamis Wave Power  The Pelamis Wave Energy Converter is a semi- submerged, articulated structure composed of cylindrical sections linked by hinged joints. The Pelamis Wave Energy Converter also known as GAINT SEA SNAKE .

CONSTRUCTIONAL DETAILS :  Each pelamis machine is of 120 mts long.  It has a diameter of 3.5 mts.  Each pelamis machine has three power conversion modules.  Each machine is rated to produce 750 KW. Depending on the wave resource, machines will on average produce 25-40% of the full rated output over the course of a year.

  • 9. Working process • Waves resisted by hydraulic rams. • Hydraulic rams pump high pressure oil to hydraulic motors. • Hydraulic motors drive electrical generators.

  • 12.  The power conversion modules contains the power capture systems.  The module consists of a fabricated and a painted steel structure that is installed with motor generator set, hydraulic Cylinders, and electrical control cabins.  POWER MODULE FABRICATION :
  • 13.  TUBE FABRICATION :  The main structural fabrication consists of steel tubes, nose and yoke sections.  The nose section is installed with transformer, switch gear and control system and is commissioned.  Each tube is fitted with cabling and connecting transists to ensure the correct displacement.
  • 14.  FINAL ASSEMBLY :  The completed module and tube segments are joined together to complete the assembly of the machine.  These joints can be made both on the land and in the water depending upon facilities used.  The fully assembled machine undergoes commissioning at on-site installation.
  • 15.  100% available technology.  No maintenance carried out at offshore site.  Minimum work on-site..  Lowest kWh costs in the market.  Each machine can provide sufficient power to meet the annual electricity demand of approximately 500 UK Homes. ADVANTAGES :
