The impact of fast food on health in the UK
• This is an issue that has become increasingly more dangerous over the past decade and hasn’t really
gained major attention from the mass media in recent years. With the UK being the leading country
in Europe in obesity, we think this topic would be very relevant today to document and with the
majority of the population eating fast food, it would be an interest to them to see the effects of fast
food on their health.
• The target audience for this topic would be very large covering most demographics due to the
amount of people who eat fast food today. We would try to target both genders aged 15+ by giving
evidence/interviews for both genders and varied ages.
• The channel most suitable for viewing this topic would probably be channel 4 as they produce the
most shows/documentaries on health and care with the most popular being Embarrassing Bodies.
• The mode for this topic would fall into would be reflexive and expository as we would have the
narrator in front of the camera giving narrative guidance as well as asking the questions to the
interviewee’s. The topic would also expose some of the ingredients in fast food and some of the
health risks people don't know about.
• The narrator we would choose will have to be confident enough to talk to the camera and keep a
conversation with the interviewee. We would also want the narrator to have the clearest voice
possible.
• There are a few documentaries that are fairly similar which includes, most popularly, ‘Super-Size
Me’ which was a participatory documentary in which we could steal some elements from including
the expository side and the way in which the filmmaker interacts with the interviewee’s.
Is Graffiti art?
• With more and more graffiti covering many of the UK’s biggest cities, many people are divided on whether
its plain vandalism or art that gives the city more culture. The London Artist Bansky has created stencil
graffiti that has fetched for millions of pounds and with his newly opened Dismaland, the topic could
become more relevant to today.
• The target audience for this topic would be very large covering most demographics as most people are
either concerned or interested in the growing art of graffiti . We would try to target both genders although
it would attract more of a male audience. We would target people between the ages of 15-60 as younger
people would be more interested in it and older people would be more concerned with it.
• The channel most suitable for viewing this topic would probably be BBC2 as they have had 2
documentaries on Graffiti including one about the hidden identity of Banksy. The BBC have also done more
reporting on his work in Gaza and Dismaland.
• The mode for this topic would fall into would be reflexive and expository as we would have the narrator in
front of the camera giving narrative guidance as well as asking the questions to the interviewee’s witch
could include people who want to hide their identity. The topic would could also expose some of the tricks
graffiti artists use to be able to do their work.
• The narrator we would choose will have to be confident enough to talk to the camera and keep a
conversation with the interviewee. We would also want the narrator to have the clearest voice possible.
• There are a few documentaries that are fairly similar which includes ‘Who is Banksy? A Closer Look’ and
‘Taggers – Graffiti – Second Sight’ which are both BBC documentaries. They are also both reflexive and
expository and we could steal some styles and elements which include shadowing the interviewee’s to
hide their identity.
***Is the NFL about to take over?
• In recent years the National Football League in America has struck a deal with the FA and television rights in England so now
more games are played at Wembley and are broadcasted to the English audience with ITV. As many people don’t play the
sport here, it would be interesting to see how the rise of the NFL in English could affect how much more it will be seen here
and if more coaching will be set up for young people to pick it up as a major sport. Also with the Rugby World Cup playing
this year, it would also be interesting to see how the sport compares and especially to see how the fans think about the NFL
becoming more of a serious sport in England.
• The target audience for this topic would be more niche as many people in England aren't already fans of the sport itself but
seeing as its coming from our perspective it would interest some people that aren't interested in the sport also. It would also
target rugby fans as its the most similar sport in comparison as well as we would be interviewing Rugby fans following the
Rugby World Cup.
• The channel most suitable for viewing this topic would probably be ITV or Channel 4 as ITV are the leading sports coverage
channel with them already covering the Rugby World Cup currently. Moreover ITV as well as Channel 4 have been covering
NFL games at Wembley over the past year. Due to the sport itself, we would be mainly targeting a male audience of ages 15-
50.
• The mode for this topic would fall into would be reflexive and maybe participatory as we would have the narrator in front of
the camera giving narrative guidance as well as asking the questions to the interviewee’s which would include fans at the
Rugby World Cup and NFL fans at the Regents street parade. The topic could also become participatory due to the activities
the narrator could join in on during the parade.
• The narrator we would choose will have to be confident enough to talk to the camera and keep a conversation with the
interviewee (some of which could be from other countries). We would also want the narrator to have the clearest voice
possible.
• There aren’t any NFL documentaries that have been shown in the UK of recent years which could help us as we would be
original however lacking in inspiration. However there have been Rugby documentaries such as ‘The Rugby World Cup:
England’s Story’ Which we could steal styles from such as using archive footage from games and overlapping with narration
of interviews.

  • 3. The impact of fast food on health in the UK • This is an issue that has become increasingly more dangerous over the past decade and hasn’t really gained major attention from the mass media in recent years. With the UK being the leading country in Europe in obesity, we think this topic would be very relevant today to document and with the majority of the population eating fast food, it would be an interest to them to see the effects of fast food on their health. • The target audience for this topic would be very large covering most demographics due to the amount of people who eat fast food today. We would try to target both genders aged 15+ by giving evidence/interviews for both genders and varied ages. • The channel most suitable for viewing this topic would probably be channel 4 as they produce the most shows/documentaries on health and care with the most popular being Embarrassing Bodies. • The mode for this topic would fall into would be reflexive and expository as we would have the narrator in front of the camera giving narrative guidance as well as asking the questions to the interviewee’s. The topic would also expose some of the ingredients in fast food and some of the health risks people don't know about. • The narrator we would choose will have to be confident enough to talk to the camera and keep a conversation with the interviewee. We would also want the narrator to have the clearest voice possible. • There are a few documentaries that are fairly similar which includes, most popularly, ‘Super-Size Me’ which was a participatory documentary in which we could steal some elements from including the expository side and the way in which the filmmaker interacts with the interviewee’s.
  • 4. Is Graffiti art? • With more and more graffiti covering many of the UK’s biggest cities, many people are divided on whether its plain vandalism or art that gives the city more culture. The London Artist Bansky has created stencil graffiti that has fetched for millions of pounds and with his newly opened Dismaland, the topic could become more relevant to today. • The target audience for this topic would be very large covering most demographics as most people are either concerned or interested in the growing art of graffiti . We would try to target both genders although it would attract more of a male audience. We would target people between the ages of 15-60 as younger people would be more interested in it and older people would be more concerned with it. • The channel most suitable for viewing this topic would probably be BBC2 as they have had 2 documentaries on Graffiti including one about the hidden identity of Banksy. The BBC have also done more reporting on his work in Gaza and Dismaland. • The mode for this topic would fall into would be reflexive and expository as we would have the narrator in front of the camera giving narrative guidance as well as asking the questions to the interviewee’s witch could include people who want to hide their identity. The topic would could also expose some of the tricks graffiti artists use to be able to do their work. • The narrator we would choose will have to be confident enough to talk to the camera and keep a conversation with the interviewee. We would also want the narrator to have the clearest voice possible. • There are a few documentaries that are fairly similar which includes ‘Who is Banksy? A Closer Look’ and ‘Taggers – Graffiti – Second Sight’ which are both BBC documentaries. They are also both reflexive and expository and we could steal some styles and elements which include shadowing the interviewee’s to hide their identity.
  • 5. ***Is the NFL about to take over? • In recent years the National Football League in America has struck a deal with the FA and television rights in England so now more games are played at Wembley and are broadcasted to the English audience with ITV. As many people don’t play the sport here, it would be interesting to see how the rise of the NFL in English could affect how much more it will be seen here and if more coaching will be set up for young people to pick it up as a major sport. Also with the Rugby World Cup playing this year, it would also be interesting to see how the sport compares and especially to see how the fans think about the NFL becoming more of a serious sport in England. • The target audience for this topic would be more niche as many people in England aren't already fans of the sport itself but seeing as its coming from our perspective it would interest some people that aren't interested in the sport also. It would also target rugby fans as its the most similar sport in comparison as well as we would be interviewing Rugby fans following the Rugby World Cup. • The channel most suitable for viewing this topic would probably be ITV or Channel 4 as ITV are the leading sports coverage channel with them already covering the Rugby World Cup currently. Moreover ITV as well as Channel 4 have been covering NFL games at Wembley over the past year. Due to the sport itself, we would be mainly targeting a male audience of ages 15- 50. • The mode for this topic would fall into would be reflexive and maybe participatory as we would have the narrator in front of the camera giving narrative guidance as well as asking the questions to the interviewee’s which would include fans at the Rugby World Cup and NFL fans at the Regents street parade. The topic could also become participatory due to the activities the narrator could join in on during the parade. • The narrator we would choose will have to be confident enough to talk to the camera and keep a conversation with the interviewee (some of which could be from other countries). We would also want the narrator to have the clearest voice possible. • There aren’t any NFL documentaries that have been shown in the UK of recent years which could help us as we would be original however lacking in inspiration. However there have been Rugby documentaries such as ‘The Rugby World Cup: England’s Story’ Which we could steal styles from such as using archive footage from games and overlapping with narration of interviews.
