How can being a Fort SUPERSTAR help
your child?
4. • The Fort SUPERSTARS III program helps students of all
ages gain problem solving and higher order thinking
skills.
• The SUPERSTARS III program provides the extra
challenge that self-motivated students need in
mathematics
• Any student can participate regardless of academic
performance
• All students earn rewards for their efforts even if they
do all or one of the problems
• Parents become involved in developing problem-
solving skills with their child
Why should my child be a Fort
SUPERSTAR?
5. 1. Encourage your child to participate in the
SUPERSTARS III program.
2. Set aside time each night to work on the problems.
3. Volunteer your time to help:
• Collect stars
• Update STAR charts
• Help prepare the materials
How can I help?
6. • Student problems are distributed each Monday.
• Students have until Friday to complete the problems.
• On Friday, the teacher will discuss selected problems with the
class;The discussion revolves around their strategies to solve the
problem not just the correct answer. (We are working on thinking
skills.)
• Volunteers review the sheets and award STARS to each student.
• The STARS are updated on a class poster.
• Rewards are given when specific goals are met.
How does the Fort SUPERSTARS III
program work?
7. 1. Teachers and Administrators will hold a SUPERSTARSIII pep rally
and assign the grade level their corresponding planet (level of
program).
2. Teachers will explain the program and discuss goals with their
classes.
3. Volunteers are needed to:
• prepare materials for distribution to students.
• Create class or grade level STAR charts to hung in prominent area
• Sign up to help in rewarding stars (grading papers). We will need help once a week.
4. Encourage your child to participate.

8. We measure success by:
• the increased amount of time we are spending to improve our
problem-solving skills
• the number of STARS that are awarded weekly, monthly, yearly
• Improved math scores in EVERY grade level
• Improved STAAR scores for 3rd and 4th
• More time with your child ensuring their education is a priority
