Enterprises are discovering the move to a mobile world not only presents new opportunities but also unique challenges. Oracle has identified numerous pain points amongst its customers in making the move to mobile, and to address these issues, no matter where the customer is in their mobile adoption, has a solution to meet their mobile development needs.
In Oracle we can summarize the opportunity for mobile via the “Connected Enterprise”
Different type of scenarios
We divide Connected Enterprise into three main areas,
Connected Workforce is about mobility for employees and partners
Connected Marketplace is about mobilizing customers, or citizens (depending on your industry)
And lastly Connected Things is about Machine-to-Machine and the Internet of Things.
Just some quick examples of apps that we can help customers build:
In connected workforce:
It could be inspection apps allowing a worker to collect data about a building, process compliance or manufacturing process in the field.
It may be a training applications – providing multi-media education to workers on the job, guiding them with AR and recording their training compliance.
In Connected marketplace:
It could be an app for city residents to be provided information on local amenities and to report faults in urban infrastucture.
It could be an for customers that accompanies a product that has been sold – providing self-diagnosis, manuals and catalogs for future products additions.
In connected things … the applications are limitless
- From controlling the complex such as cars – to the mundane such as an umbrella handle which changes color to warn of forthcoming rain.
iBeacons is a supported by a new technology called Low Energy Bluetooth – and its already supported in Apple devices in iOS7.
iBeacons are small, cheap bluetoothe devices – smaller than your hand which are being place around and inside buildings : shops, museums, factories.
This will mean that soon when you walk into a shop – your phone could vibrate and you could be provided with an offer on a product and then you will be routed within the shop to the exact position and shelf in the shop to find the product.
Other applications would include directing fans to their seats in sport stadium.
