Cutting Corners

Squares are cut from a 9-by-12-inch piece of
cardboard so the four flaps can be folded up. What
size squares should be cut so that the volume of the
box is the largest possible?

Reversals
Take a three-digit number, reverse its digits, and subtract
the smaller from the larger. Reverse the digits of the result
and add.
123 -> 321, 321 – 123 = 198
198 -> 891, 198 + 891 = 1089
