Road Map- HCL – Adaptive Preparedness and Risk Reduction in ECCD
01 02
01 02
If the current pandemic situation
becomes normal and all restrictions are
revoked by state and central government
post lockdown.
In such scenario will follow our
activities/plan porposed in the proposal
for 2nd phase.
If this pandemic situation continues for a
longer period of time, then will have to
repaln our activities consideiring he
ongoing pandemic situation to
1. To reduce further risks of infection
2. Enabling adoptive preparedness
mechanism at institute and
community level
3. Ensuring ICDS services delivery and
system strengthening during /post
Covid 19 scenario

APPROACH
Safe Aganwadi Centers “A”
A
Bringing children to the AWC post
pandemic will not be easy, hence we
will have to work around stigma
attached to this pandemic and
simultaneously has to create awareness
in the community as well. Will also have
to ensure that children do not get
infected while being at the centre.
Hence we further need to take initiaves
such as :-
03
02
01
Disinfection of aganwnadi centres using sodium hypochlorite solution
once in every 15 days initially and later may be done monthly too
Ensuring availability of proper hygiene kit comprising of Handwash,
Sanitizer, detergent towel etc
Ensuring availability of Persoanl Protective Equipments for each
AWW/AWH
04
The AWC floor must be carefully equipped with seating arrangement
(Colored circle) ensuing physical distancing norms
05
The existing WASH facilities must be modified to either foot/elbow
driven
06
Capacity building of AWW/Helper following the physical distancing norms in
multiple batches must be conducted and must have components such as
preventive measures of Covid -19 at centre abd Home, Nesuing continuous
learning of children at home through digital platforms
Enabling Safety at Community
Level
4
BAaganwadi centres must not be seen
in an isolation, if we need to ensure
the safety of our children we need to
work at community level too.
Mass awareness campaign either via radio or E-rickshaw campaign
need to be initiated to raise awareness around prevention of Covid -19,
and eradicating the stigma that this pandemic has imposed
Ensuring proper orientation of mothers group members on engaging with
the children via resources available at home (Ready to learn), Use of
social media platforms, ensuring safety of children at home by taking
appropriate measures
Governmnet approved IEM material on Covid must be printed and
disseminated in the community, along with SOP for reporting of
suspected cases in future
Community places such as toilets, mass gathering palces, must be
disinfected through advocacy with concerned deprtament
Community level WASH infrastructure need to be modified as elbow/foot
driven ensuing least contact with the contaminated surfaces
Establshing social distanicg norms an protocol at the community level
specially focused to using community toilets, shooping complex etc
Being prepared “C”
This instant spread of this pandemic
across the globe has provided us with
lot of learnings. In current situation we
were not even prepared with content,
platforms, applications, networks and
other resourcesto reach out to the most
vulnerables ones and ensuring
continues learning among children.
Hence for the future preparedness we
relly need to prepare ourself with more
digital contents, alternatives to reach
out to masses etc.
Digital Comprehensive parenting module either general or animated
need to be prepared, may comprise of videoa on violence free
parenting, creating enabling environment at home, Engagging with
children at home via activities ( ready to learn)
Digital video whatsapp version to be created to implement mass
awareness campaigns such as Handwahing, Breastfeeding and steps to
prevent infenction to the children while breasfeeding, Diet diversity or
nutrition rich recipes from locally available item etc.( refer –Ammu Aman
videos)
C
Activities book to engage with children need to be developed printed for
the households in the community
We may develop a mobile phones based application to be developed for
activities based learning for children
We may need to develop innovative learning material with lesser use of
papers and other similar aids.
Safer learning Environment @ Homes
D
Ensuring continuous learning and
safety of children during pandemic
situation is not easy for the
cargivers. Hence cargiver also need
support and orientation to cope up
with current pandemic/post
pandemic situation.
6
Will orient the caregiver through telecalling/digital platforms on
maintaining hygiene and follow simple preventive Covid measures as
home
Will have to provide activity book, learning material along with the digital
content so that screen time for the children could also be reduced
Will need too provide caregivers with hygiene kits comprsing of sanitizer
so that material used by the children could be sanitized pre-post usage
at home
Will have to orinet them to follow the social siatnding norms everywhere
may it be at grocery shop, community toilets or other public spaces.
