1. Genre
The genre of my music video will be indie. Genre is important for both the
audiences and creators of products as the creators will subscribeto established
conventions of the genre, but also allowing creativity within the given format.
Itis also good for audiences as they can have systems of expectations about
the content and style of a text, according to its genre, and so they can
recognisewhich conventions and therefore which genres they like. The genre
of indie is quite broad but there are still some conventions, for example, it is
very common for artists in the indie genre to do a live performancefor their
music video. This way the main focus is on them as performers doing what
they love to do. Italso keeps the focus on the actual music itself and the talent
that the artists have. This is very different to pop wherethe focus is on selling
the actual artist and less about the music. So in my music video, a large part of
it will be performancebased whereI will focus on and have lots of close ups of
the instruments as this focuses the video on the music. Costume is also a way
to identify genre so in my video I will make surethe clothes my actor is
wearing and cool and casualas this is typical of the indie genre.
