2. James Cameron’s Background
• Born August 16, 1954 in
Kapuskasing, Ontario, Canada
• Moved to California at age 17
• Enrolled in Fullerton College to
study Physics in 1973 but
dropped out the next year
• Worked several jobs including
driving a truck while he taught
himself special effects by
going to the USC library and
reading the Thesis’ of graduate
students.

• On his first experimentation with
filmmaking he tore a camera
apart in order to understand how
to operate it
• He landed his first film job as art
director, miniature-set
builder, and process-projection
supervisor on Roger Corman's
Battle Beyond the Stars (1980)
