  2. 2. Point <ul><li>Exact position or location on a plane surface. </li></ul><ul><li>The middle of the home plate is a point. </li></ul>
  3. 3. Line (Segment) <ul><li>A line with definite endpoints. </li></ul><ul><li>In football, receivers try to stay in bounds- the boundaries are a line segment. </li></ul>
  4. 4. Plane <ul><li>An imaginary flat surface that is infinitely large and with zero thickness. </li></ul><ul><li>The bowling alley is a flat surface. </li></ul>
  5. 5. Angle <ul><li>A shape formed by two lines or rays diverging from a common point (the vertex). </li></ul><ul><li>The field goal makes 2 90 degree angles. </li></ul>
  6. 6. Perpendicular Lines <ul><li>A line is perpendicular to another if it meets or crosses it at right angles (90 degrees). </li></ul><ul><li>The net makes perpendicular lines with the service boxes. </li></ul>
  7. 7. Parallel Lines <ul><li>Lines are parallel if they lie in the same plane and are the same distant apart over their entire length. </li></ul><ul><li>Each yard line of a football field is parallel with the previous or next yard line. </li></ul>

  20. 20. Oval <ul><li>An oval or ovoid is any curve that looks like an egg or an ellipse. It is not a precise term and there are many curves that get called &quot;oval&quot;. </li></ul><ul><li>A NASCAR track is an oval. </li></ul>
