2. I CHRONICLES 29:1-21
1 Furthermore King David said to all the assembly: "My son
Solomon, whom alone God has chosen, is young and
inexperienced; and the work is great, because the temple is not
for man but for the LORD God.
2 "Now for the house of my God I have prepared with all my
might: gold for things to be made of gold, silver for things of
silver, bronze for things of bronze, iron for things of iron, wood
for things of wood, onyx stones, stones to be set, glistening
stones of various colors, all kinds of precious stones, and
marble slabs in abundance.
3 "Moreover, because I have set my affection on the house of
my God, I have given to the house of my God, over and above
all that I have prepared for the holy house, my own special
treasure of gold and silver:
3. I CHRONICLES 29:1-21
4 "three thousand talents of gold, of the gold of Ophir, and
seven thousand talents of refined silver, to overlay the walls of
the houses;
5 "the gold for things of gold and the silver for things of silver,
and for all kinds of work to be done by the hands of craftsmen.
Who then is willing to consecrate himself this day to the
LORD?“
6 Then the leaders of the fathers' houses, leaders of the tribes
of Israel, the captains of thousands and of hundreds, with the
officers over the king's work, offered willingly.
7 They gave for the work of the house of God five thousand
talents and ten thousand darics of gold, ten thousand talents of
silver, eighteen thousand talents of bronze, and one hundred
thousand talents of iron.
4. I CHRONICLES 29:1-21
8 And whoever had precious stones gave them to the treasury
of the house of the LORD, into the hand of Jehiel the
Gershonite.
9 Then the people rejoiced, for they had offered willingly,
because with a loyal heart they had offered willingly to the
LORD; and King David also rejoiced greatly.
10 Therefore David blessed the LORD before all the assembly;
and David said: "Blessed are You, LORD God of Israel, our
Father, forever and ever.
11 Yours, O LORD, is the greatness, The power and the glory,
The victory and the majesty; For all that is in heaven and in
earth is Yours; Yours is the kingdom, O LORD, And You are
exalted as head over all.
5. I CHRONICLES 29:1-21
12 Both riches and honor come from You, And You reign over
all. In Your hand is power and might; In Your hand it is to make
great And to give strength to all.
13 "Now therefore, our God, We thank You And praise Your
glorious name.
14 But who am I, and who are my people, That we should be
able to offer so willingly as this? For all things come from You,
And of Your own we have given You.
15 For we are aliens and pilgrims before You, As were all our
fathers; Our days on earth are as a shadow, And without hope.
6. I CHRONICLES 29:1-21
16 "O LORD our God, all this abundance that we have prepared
to build You a house for Your holy name is from Your hand, and
is all Your own.
17 "I know also, my God, that You test the heart and have
pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of my
heart I have willingly offered all these things; and now with joy
I have seen Your people, who are present here to offer willingly
to You.
18 "O LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, our fathers,
keep this forever in the intent of the thoughts of the heart of
Your people, and fix their heart toward You.
7. I CHRONICLES 29:1-21
19 "And give my son Solomon a loyal heart to keep Your
commandments and Your testimonies and Your statutes, to do
all these things, and to build the temple for which I have made
provision."
20 Then David said to all the assembly, "Now bless the LORD
your God." So all the assembly blessed the LORD God of their
fathers, and bowed their heads and prostrated themselves
before the LORD and the king.
21 And they made sacrifices to the LORD and offered burnt
offerings to the LORD on the next day: a thousand bulls, a
thousand rams, a thousand lambs, with their drink offerings,
and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel.
8. A NATURAL INCLINATION
• Giving to God comes naturally in the
heart of man.
• Giving to God is not exclusive to
Christianity.
9. CAIN & ABEL
• Each of them naturally brought their gift
to God.
• They knew that they ought to give to
God.
10. THE ART OF GIVING TO GOD
You are a giving people and it is God’s will
that you should know the procedure to
follow when you are giving to God.
11. THE ART OF GIVING TO GOD
LESSON FROM CAIN & ABEL.
God received Abel’s gift and rejected
Cain’s Gift.
GOD MAY OR MAY NOT ACCEPT A GIFT
12. THE ART OF GIVING TO GOD
WHEN A GIFT IS NOT ACCEPTED BY GOD,
IT IS NOT RECORDED IN HEAVEN.
13. GIVE PROPERLY
YOU MUST GIVE IN A WAY THAT IT IS
RECORDED IN HEAVEN.
Matthew 6:21
"For where your treasure is, there your
heart will be also.”
14. God is a HOLY God
God is the OWNER of everything
in Heaven and on Earth.
God is concerned about what
remains in your pocket more than
what you give.
God wants you to give joyfully and
willingly.
God will not take the gift of
people HE is not accepting.
God wants you to FORGIVE others
before you give.
God wants you to give as a sign of
restoring yourself to HIM.
God wants your gift to be spiritual.
SPIRITUAL
CONSIDERATIONS
15. God is a HOLY God
God receives nothing with
defect.
God receives first fruits.
16. God is the OWNER of everything
Psalm 24:1
“The earth is the LORD'S, and all
its fullness, The world and those
who dwell therein.”
17. God is concerned about what remains
in your pocket
MARK 12
41 Now Jesus sat opposite the treasury and saw how the
people put money into the treasury. And many who were rich
put in much.
42 Then one poor widow came and threw in two mites, which
make a quadrans.
43 So He called His disciples to Himself and said to them,
"Assuredly, I say to you that this poor widow has put in more
than all those who have given to the treasury;
44 For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her
want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.
18. God wants you to give joyfully and
willingly
I CHRONICLES 29
9 Then the people rejoiced, for they
had offered willingly, because with a
loyal heart they had offered willingly
to the LORD; and King David also
rejoiced greatly.
19. God wants you to give joyfully and
willingly
2 CORINTHIANS 8
3 For I bear witness that according to their ability,
yes, and beyond their ability, they were freely willing,
4 imploring us with much urgency that we would
receive the gift and the fellowship of the ministering
to the saints.
5 And not only as we had hoped, but they first gave
themselves to the Lord, and then to us by the will of
God.
20. God will not take the gift of people HE
is not accepting
ISAIAH
10 Hear the word of the LORD, You rulers of Sodom; Give ear to the law of our God, You people
of Gomorrah:
11 "To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices to Me?" Says the LORD. "I have had
enough of burnt offerings of rams And the fat of fed cattle. I do not delight in the blood of
bulls, Or of lambs or goats.
12 "When you come to appear before Me, Who has required this from your hand, To trample
My courts?
13 Bring no more futile sacrifices; Incense is an abomination to Me. The New Moons, the
Sabbaths, and the calling of assemblies-I cannot endure iniquity and the sacred meeting.
14 Your New Moons and your appointed feasts My soul hates; They are a trouble to Me, I am
weary of bearing them.
15 When you spread out your hands, I will hide My eyes from you; Even though you make
many prayers, I will not hear. Your hands are full of blood.
16 "Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; Put away the evil of your doings from before My
eyes. Cease to do evil,
17 Learn to do good; Seek justice, Rebuke the oppressor; Defend the fatherless, Plead for the
widow.
18 "Come now, and let us reason together," Says the LORD, "Though your sins are like scarlet,
They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool.
19 If you are willing and obedient, You shall eat the good of the land;
21. God wants you to FORGIVE others
before you give
Matthew 5
23 "Therefore if you bring your gift to the
altar, and there remember that your
brother has something against you,
24 "leave your gift there before the altar,
and go your way. First be reconciled to your
brother, and then come and offer your gift.
22. God wants you to give as a sign of
restoring yourself to HIM
Malachi
6 "For I am the LORD, I do not change; Therefore you are not consumed, O
sons of Jacob.
7 Yet from the days of your fathers You have gone away from My ordinances
And have not kept them. Return to Me, and I will return to you," Says the
LORD of hosts. "But you said, 'In what way shall we return?'
8 "Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, 'In what way
have we robbed You?' In tithes and offerings.
9 You are cursed with a curse, For you have robbed Me, Even this whole
nation.
10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My
house, And try Me now in this," Says the LORD of hosts, "If I will not open
for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That
there will not be room enough to receive it.
11 "And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, So that he will not
destroy the fruit of your ground, Nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you
in the field," Says the LORD of hosts;
23. God wants your gift to be spiritual
