1. Lesson in Maths , Class 4
Topic: Measures
Aim and the tasks:
• To give oppurtunity to pupils to acknowledge their knowledge and skills both
theoretically and practically
• To deepen and systematize knowledge in maths and to use measures
Aims:
• To create interest in measures (maths)
• To be able to find the info in the table
• To broaden the outlook and creative skills
Tasks:
• To view different measures
• To solve exercises with different levels of difficulty
• To understand problems that arise by practical use of knowledge
Description of the lesson:
Quantity is the quality that is common for different objects qualitatively, but (according to
quantity) it can differ quantitatively. For example, the question – how much? Your answers
are different – there are m, cm, kg, Ls, h etc. . Each kind of quantity needs its
measurement. . The taecher writes the names of measures on a yellow paper(round –
shaped sheet), the taecher hangs them , fastens.
Let’s grow flowers today. I’ve got petals with symbols of measures in my hands. You have
to come to me, take a petal, say the right measure and connectedness . Then you must put it
to the right measure. If one does the exercise correct, one gets a petal. I show the
demonstration (I pull out symbol m – it means metre, , 1m is 100cm, I put it to the length
measure). If someone can not answer, he loses the petal, but he chooses a person „rescuer”
who can get his petal.
We clear up which measures blossom first. We discuss why?
We take the flowers away from the blackboard. Now we will grow another kind of flowers.
After the warming up I divide the class into 6 groups. Teacher decides how to divide the class
or the pupils can be divided according to the colours of the petals. The one and the same
colours come together, the monitor comes and finds the middle part of the petal where are
the tasks for the group written.
2. The winner is the team whose flower blooms faster and more correct than the flowers of
the others. The team gets a flower for each correct answer..
We clear up the best flower planters of the class.
Maths task by heart at the end of the lesson
Diligence of the bee. Pupils must solve the exercises to get to know how many hours a day
and a night a bee works. The pupil winner awards himself with the diligence of the bee.
3. Appendix with the exercises is on the petals
Mass measures : Time measures : Length measures:
1c = ? Kg 120 s =?min 200 cm = ?m
200kg = ?c 3 min = ? s 5 m = ?cm
370kg = ? C 1min 10 s = ? s 1m 9 cm = ? cm
3c 25kg = ?kg 3 h=? min 530 cm = ? m
Cuurency measures: Measures of capacity: Square measures:
200 sant =? lati 400 l = ? hl 5 a = ? ha
6 lati = ? sant. 2 hl = ? l 3 ha = ? a
1 lats 20 sant.= ? Sant. 1hl 30 l = ? l 5a 10m²= ? m²
180 sant. = ? lati 520 l = ?hl 1ha 3 a = ? a
4. Maths/ Natural sciense Class 4
Topics: Measures
Aims of the lesson:
• To create interest in measures and maths
• To improve students skills in maths in a practical work
Tasks:
• To be able to find and read the information
• To be able to calculate and cooperate
• To learn planning and systematization
Description of the lesson:
Today you will do a practical work but before it some warm-up training
One grows the plants from seeds when gardening. The flower beds have got rectangular or
round shapes approximately the same size. One must sow in the rectangular colourful part
of the flower bed in the picture and one must use the same seeds. Calculate!
Write the answers on the sheet of paper and raise the sheet. We clarify that 5/12 has been
sowed.
Which circle has got the same size (marked up blue) for sowing the same amount of seeds?
5. One writes the variant on the sheet of paper and shows it. We clear up that it is variant C.
The class is divided into groups. Each group decides about order and duties.
Duties – moderator of the work, the responsible person for tools/ order, the surveyor
(measurement making) sower, the person who must water, designer
Each group gets a package with seeds in it. Pupils clear up which seeds one can sow and
which seeds one can not sow. The surveyor calculates what size boxes one needs. One can
also choose peat pots. Pupils calculate what size area is needed for the plants.
Sower must know the depth of the seeds sowing, he must also know the length of the
plant, what place is suitable (sunny, shadowy etc.)
Designer makes description about the plant. He makes a table with information about
germination, flowering, harvesting.
The pupil who is responsible for watering makes a table with information about watering
and fertilization.
At the end of the lesson there is the summary – what measures have been used in practical
work.
Joy for the work. Everyone gets a fruit or vegetable.
