Practical Strategies for Learning from Failure - #LFFdigital Cardiff: fast feedback
1. Fast feedback 6th
August 2015
Describe this event in five words
Best part of the event
ā¢ Working with the groups to develop the model for āenabling environment for innovationā
ā¢ Chatting with other participants
ā¢ Networking, information exchange
ā¢ I really enjoyed all of it, from applying to come, the twitter conversation in the run up, the questions and
conversations, the great facilitation (including Shirleyās timekeeping), the people, reflection time
ā¢ Private/personal reflection. Having the time to reflect and evaluate, we donāt do enough of this in our
day to day life
ā¢ The approach to developing the thinking
ā¢ Discussion about the enabling environment for innovation
ā¢ So what ā action
ā¢ Sharing thoughts and experiences and networking opportunities with like minded individuals across
different organisations. Group exercises particularly interesting.
ā¢ The mini-seminar, new models.
ā¢ Open conversations, new knowledge, resources shared in advance to facilitate informed discussion.
2. Fast feedback 6th
August 2015
Least interesting part of the event
ā¢ Presentation after lunch (mainly because I
had read the blogs already)
ā¢ āWhat doesnāt workā centres didnāt work
for me ā I would have like us to discuss
what was needed and shape the questions
collectively
ā¢ Nothing
ā¢ /
ā¢ All really interesting
ā¢ n/a
ā¢ There were none. Good length, variety of
presenters and facilitators.
ā¢ I felt the session on āwhat doesnāt workā
centre lost its way a little. Seemed to turn
into a session about whistleblowing. Also
seemed to be about within organisation
rather than across.
ā¢ I found all the day of interest
ā¢ nil
ā¢ All good, cheers
What we can do to make the event better
ā¢ Enjoyed the event, be interesting to see the resources for it and how the network progresses
ā¢ Would have liked longer on the āsage on the stageā session ā 300 seconds was too short on time
ā¢ Hold it in a pub!
ā¢ I canāt think of anything. Maybe a few toys on tables to play with while thinking.
ā¢ Name tags and clearer introduction to people attending the event.
ā¢ Possibly have some more reading in advance, when I say reading I mean think pieces
ā¢ For the whole group sessions make sure the room is set up in a collaborative format
ā¢ Tighten up the feedback. Ditch the tables and use chair clusters around flip charts or posters on walls.
ā¢ Bit more time for introductions ā if we know more about people we can ask better questions. Name
badges ļ
ā¢ I donāt think you need to change it. .
Anything else on your mind?
ā¢ Just to say Thank You All
ā¢ How to start applying some of the practical things I learnt into the practical day-to-day
ā¢ Really like the commitment around write up etc ā much appreciated
ā¢ Thank you ļ
ā¢ Nope, except to say a HUGE thank you. Brilliant day, well done!
ā¢ Implement similar workshop in my organisation??
ā¢ Roxanne ā hope to find time to chat
ā¢ Nice work

āUltimateā question: as a result of taking partā¦.
I feel able to start conversations about failure
with colleagues in my organisation
I feel able to start conversations about failure
with colleagues other organisations
I feel more able to formally engage with addressing
problems in the work of my organisation
I would recommend āpractical strategies for learning
from failureā to a colleague
