SUBJECT: Gretings from Yogyakarta
Dear Cousin Rara,
We arrived in Yogya last night by the last available flight. We chose Yogya for our
holiday because it has many interesting cultural sites. Dad took us directly to the hotel.
We’re staying at Uni Club, a nice hotel located in the compound of UGM campus. Our
room was a nice family suite located on third floor. Too bad they didn’t have an elevator
here, but I had no probem with that. I needed to lose some weight anyway.
After having breakfast this morning, we went to see the famous Borobudur Temple. Dad
rent a car from the hotel. It took us around an hour to get there. Borobudur is really
mag nificent. We walked leisurely all the way to the top stupas. Mum got a bit tired, but
the view is worth the effort.
After lunch, we headed to Ullen Sentalu Museum, a museum of Javanese arts and
cultures, in Kaliurang. We saw a lot of paintings and picture of the Javanese royal
family as well. We really loves this holiday. When you get here one day, I’m sure you
will enjoy everything here.

Sabu Raijua Art Show
Sabu Raijua art show is an annual event which is hel in SMP Negeri 3 Sabu Raijua. The
goal of this program is to develop students’ talents and creativities. The show is
conducted at the end of May. It is usually held on Saturday after the semester
examination. The show includes music show, dancing, and drawing.
The show begins at 8.am. thw show is opened by SMP Negeri 3 marching band and then
followed by drawing. Drawing is a massive program because all students take part.
While drawing competition takes place, the music show, and dancing are performed one
after another. The music show is the most popular program. Each class always takes part
in this program. Some participants use live music and the others are accompanied by
keyboard.
Dancing is also one of the programs students love. Most participants perform folk dance.
They began the dancing practice two months before the show.
The show usually ends at 2 p.m. all students are very enthusiastic to follow the program.
When i first got my cat, charley, she was a tiny kitten, no more than five weeks
old, and she wasn’t eating. I took in this tiny scrap of black and white fur, and began to
coax her to eat. She would never leave my side since then. One day charley helped me.
I have been diabetic since I was 12 and need two injections of insulin per day.
One day, I didn’t eat enough, but I could still remember going to a bathroom that night
and then suddenly collapse. My insulin level must have dropped.
Within minutes, the cat realized something went wrong. She went to my
bedroom and jump to bed where Kevin, my husband, slept tight. Then, she began to pat
his hand with her paw and licked his face – something she’d never done before.
Kevin finally sat up. He noticed that my side of the bed was empty and followed
the cat to the bathroom, where he found me unconscious on the floor. He helped me
right away.
Kevin told me what had happened and I couldn’t believe it. Charley had actually
made that logical jumped, she rescued me.

The Great Fortune Teller
There was a poor man named Tukkebi (which means frog in Korean). He wished
to change his life. He told his friend, Tori (which means stone in Korean), what he
wanted. Tori said that he could help Tukkebi as a fortune teller. Tukkebi was a little bit
confused, but he agreed to Tori’s idea.
That night, Tori sneaked into the King’s palace and stole the Royal seal. He
buried the seal in the garden behind the King’s palace. Knowing that the seal was stolen,
the King was very angry. He ordered everyone in the palace to look for the seal. But
nobody could find it. Days later, Tukkebi went to palace and calmly said to the King
that he could find the seal. Tukkebi knew where the seal because Tori told him. Tukkebi
took the seal and gave it to the King. The King was very happy, and rewarded Tukkebi a
lot of money.
After this Tukkebi become famous. The emperor of China wish to meet him. The
King then invited the Emperor of China to the Royal palace. By pointing to a stone on
top of a small mound, the King asked Tukkebi what was hidden inside the mound.
Tukkebi was almost fainted. He was afraid to be punished if he didn’t have the correct
answer. Finally he was shouted out loud, “Tukkebi (frog) is dying because of you, Tori
(stone)!”. The emperor had actually put a frog under the stone! He admired Tukkebi
very much. The emperor gave Tukkebi a lot of money.

ceremony of Kraton Yogyakarta is a ritual offering meant to preserve a long sacred
