In 2010 an unprecedented number of schools will be making drastic budget cuts due to our nation’s economy. Most schools will target the  arts  as by cutting supply money and teachers. You  have the choice to vote  yes or no  on your school’s budget.
Schools will question the value of the arts…. Let’s give them  answers.

He’s not alone… 93%  of adults surveyed agree that music is part of a well-rounded education Only  43%  of 8th graders have  music  3 or 4 times a week  But… hey
Speaking of 8th graders… only  52%  have  visual arts  3 or 4 times a week 40%  of U.S. elementary schools don’t even have an  art teacher hey

Kids who have arts education for at least 3 hours a week, throughout the year, are:   4  times as likely to win an award for academic achievement
3  times as likely to be elected to class office
4  times as likely to   participate in a math and science fair
3  times as likely to win an award for school attendance
4  times as likely to to win an award for writing
In a 2000 survey, 73%  of respondents agree that teens who play an instrument are less likely to have discipline problems.
Schools say there is not enough time in the school day for the arts… South Carolina schools that made room in their schedules for the arts, at the expense of other subjects,  did not suffer  a decline in standardized test scores in the other subjects. h
Involvement in the arts increases academic scores at  all socioeconomic levels. hey
15.1%  of low arts 10th graders watched 1 hour or less. Kids who are more involved in the arts watch  less TV . 28.2%  of 10th grade students highly involved in the arts watched  1 hour or less  of TV on a weekday. hey
The arts were recognized as a  core subject  in the Goals 2000: Educate America Act approved by both houses of  Congress  in 1994.
