1. HSBC
• HSBC is a bank located on Queens road, central, Hong Kong. HSBC
was built in 1865 after the old HSBC got out of date. The HSBC is a
bank and so was the old HSBC building.
2. HSBC
Why is there balconies?
Because the architects wanted to be environmentally friendly, so they placed the balconies
there with mirrors so the light will reflect up and the people at the top of the building won't
need to use electricity.
3. Why are there x’s?
The x’s are there for support because x’s and a’s are the one of the most
strong designs in the world.
4. The statue square
The statue square(the foyer at the bottom of HSBC)the
designers had a great interest in feng shui.
So the design of statue square was made to have good feng
shui.
5. Design
• The designers of HSBC were called Lord Norman Foster and a
company called Civil and structural engineers. And together
they made the building very strong.
6. The storm barrier
• When there is a storm in central the HSBC staff lower a glass
barrier to stop the wind coming though the build and messing
up paper and breaking the glass.
