Gait Patterns
A journal which discusses and characterises gait in terms of healthy and hemiparetic is
"Characterization of gait pattern by 3D angular accelerations in hemiparetic and healthy gait". In
this journal, the study was conducted on 10 healthy subjects ( 3 females and 7 males ) and 10
hemiparetic subjects which were ranked based on how much assistance was required during a
normal gait cycle. This is known as the FAC (Functional Ambulatory Category) and is built around a
5 point system. An FAC of greater than 0 was required for participation in this study. A score of one
indicated that the subject required contact with at least one person when moving on a level surface
to prevent falling, while a score of 5 indicated that the affected individual could move independently
on flat and inclined, even and uneven surfaces. In beginning the collection of data, the subjects were
fitted with 2 accelerometers on the shank and another accelerometer was placed at the joint rotation
axis on the knee. The primary aim of this study is to show differences in the gait patterns of
hemiparetic and healthy gait based on the angular accelerations of the thigh, shank and foot as well
as to obtain information about gait phases (mid stance, swing phase, etc) through signals.
Accelerations were also analysed in the frontal plane compared to ... Show more content on

Following this, the hemiparetic subjects walked this path at their own pace until 60m was covered in
total. Barefoot walking was preferred for the study but was unavailable for all subjects due to
instability in the ankles. Support in maintaining balance in hemiparetic individuals was kept to a
minimum enough level so that there was no fear of falling. The healthy individuals chose a preferred
leg to have to sensors fitted on, while the hemiparetic subjects had the accelerometers fitted on the

Cement, A Fine, Soft, Powdery Type Substance
1.3.1. Cement
Cement is a fine, soft, powdery–type substance. Concrete is a fine, delicate, fine sort substance. It is
produced using a blend of components that are found in natural raw materials, for example,
limestone, mud, sand and/or shale. At the point when cement is blended with water, it can tie sand
and rock into a hard, strong mass called concrete. Cement is a binder, a utilized as a part of
construction that sets and hard and can bind tie different materials together. The most important
types of cement are utilized as a segment as a part of the generation of mortar in masonry, and of
concrete, which is a blend of cement and an aggregate to frame a solid building material. Cement is
usually grey. White cement can also be found but it is typically more costly than grey cement.
Cement mixed with water, sand and gravel, forms concrete.
Cement mixed with water and sand, forms cement plaster.
Cement mixed with water, lime and sand, forms mortar.
There are different types of cement present in market. Hence there are showing below:–

Music Therapy Dementia
Music Therapy Aids Dementia Sufferers
My great–grandmother was diagnosed with dementia around the time she turned 85. This meant that
her cognitive functions were deteriorating (Vink). She rapidly began to forget what she once knew.
She could no longer recognize her children. She even forgot her name. The possibility of her
memories being restored quickly became a hopeless case.
However, there was one thing my great–grandmother could recognize and remember; music. When
her daughter played some of her favorite tunes she would bob her head to the beat of the music. On
some days, she'd mouth the lyrics she had learned up to 50 years ago. The memories that had seem
hopelessly lost forever had been temporarily restored through music.

This phenomenon occurs when a person creates a "direct association of a musical event with some
extramusical object or event, so that emotions previously associated with the extramusical object
come to be associated with the music" (Dowling 204).
Because musical pieces portray emotions, different music make people feel different things and thus
get associated with different things. Jay Dowling and Dane Harwood explain that "patterns within
the music itself ... of tensions and relaxations ... mirror the form of emotional tensions and
relaxations" (Dowling 205) that humans relate to their own. This is shown by a study where every
subject who associated a song with their current relationship explained that the song gave them the
pleasant emotions that their relationship provided (Baumgartner 616).
Music helps us remember events and feel emotions – whether we want to or not. This phenomenon
has changed the way we experience and remember songs. Humans have associated certain music
with events and emotions for as long as we had the capability to (Baumgartner 316), so listening to
these familiar sounds brings forth the memories that come with

WE SHOULD HAVE SCHOOL UNIFORMS
I was 7 years old when I first started wearing a uniform at my school in Meridian, India. My
morning routine was quite simple. It started off with me putting on my navy blue skirt, white button
down blouse and a dark blue tie. I'd run I ran down the stairs to put on my jet black shoes with white
socks as my mom braided my hair. Then we'd have a leisurely breakfast where she'd make me my
favorite chocolate chips pancakes and I would head to school. At school, I would see my friends and
classmates wearing the exact same white button down shirt paired with a navy blue skirt and a navy
blue tie, and black shoes; We all looked the same. Nobody made fun of each other, we didn't
compare ourselves and no one picked on someone else because of their appearance. I didn't care
what I was wearing or how I looked at all my friends would also be wearing the same clothes as I
did. Now, 5 years later, I live in Glastonbury and go to Glastonbury High School. On, my first day
of school, I saw different styles of clothing and most of the students were wearing expensive brands
like a shirt from Ralph Lauren that cost almost $85, a belt from Gucci that was almost $450 and
many other expensive pieces of clothing. This scared me a little. I started to question," Are my
clothes good enough?" As a result, I spend half of my time trying to decide what to wear since I care
more about how I look and how I present myself to others.

2. Subpoint #2:
How does it work?
– The biologically active compounds found in marijuana are called cannabinoids. So far, at least 85
have been identified, according to Medical Marijuana Inc.
– Cannabinoids interact with two types of receptors in our bodies; CB1 receptors which are found
mainly on cells in the brain and spinal cord, and CB2 which are found in various immune cells
("What Is Medical Marijuana?").
– The most powerful cannabinoid is thought to be delta–9–tetrahydrocannabinol, also known as
THC; so the higher the THC content, the higher you become ("What Is Medical Marijuana?").

Friendship In The Odyssey
The affectionate and dedicated bond of friendship between two people is much unlike that of any
other bond. Friendship differs from the familial tie between two as friendships occur between two
people who essentially choose one another by finding similarities either in personality or certain
interests. Each person relies on the other for support and encouragement when obstacles become
difficult. In ancient literature, the true meaning of friendship is based on the qualities of honor, trust,
and encouragement which is shared among the two in order to create a stronger bond. The two
friends share a willingness to protect and defend the other more than they will themselves.
Friendship meant placing the other person and their desires above their ... Show more content on

For instance, the relationship between Achilles and Patroclus is very strong and meaningful which is
why it plays such a key role throughout the story. Achilles' personality changes when he is around
Patroclus from temperate and arrogant, to more kindhearted and warm. For this reason, Achilles and
Patroclus's relationship may be comprehended as a more romantic love rather than as friendship.
Homer makes no allegations towards this concept throughout The Iliad, yet the incredibly powerful
relationship they share could possibly be love, but it is hard to tell given there is some evidence that
present this theory, but that evidence may also be translated as a love between two friends. In Book
XVIII of The Iliad, Achilles learns of Patroclus' death, and while talking to his mother about his
grief, Achilles tells her "Patroclus, my dearest friend of them all. I loved him," (Homer, pg. 285, line
85). Yes, Achilles did love Patroclus, but in a way, two very close friends love one another which is
what Achilles calls Patroclus, his dearest friend. Regardless, Achilles and Patroclus share this bond
that they carry through the battle between the Trojans and Achaeans. Patroclus convinces

The Great Gatsby By F. Scott Fitzgerald
When meeting someone for the first time a large part of an initial impression is their clothing. The
colors, quality and style of their clothing can give information about them as a person that may or
may not be true. F. Scott Fitzgerald, the author of The Great Gatsby, utilizes clothing as an informer
of each character's lifestyle and their desires. Fitzgerald carefully depicts each character's clothing
using color, material, and quality to expose their insecurities. He uses clothing to give details about
each character because it is an extension of the characters and displays their self–expression. Unlike
race or eye color, clothing is not permanent and can be easily changed, which Fitzgerald uses to
exhibit character's status, emotions, and personalities. In the novel, character mask who they are
using their clothing to fit the standards or others while trying to achieve the American Dream.
In the beginning of The Great Gatsby, Daisy Buchanan is introduced wearing a white dress.
Fitzgerald continues to have her dressed in the color white which may be because of its connotations
with purity, innocence, and old money. Daisy is reintroduced to Gatsby at Nick Carraway's house,
wearing a lavender hat, "Daisy's face, tipped side–ways beneath a three–cornered lavender hat,
looked out at me with a bright ecstatic smile"(85), this scene is the first scene where Daisy is not
described in white. Fitzgerald might have decided to stop having Daisy wear the color white because

Hurston And Janie's Relationship
Janie was pulled into her second marriage by Joe Stark's enticing promises and the opportunity for
change. Not only did his looks and age provide fulfillment but also the promise of being treated as
the proper woman she was. The day they met, Joe told her, "'you ain't never knowed what it was to
be treated lak a lady and Ah wants to be de one tuh show yuh.'" (Hurston 35). This implies that her
current situation is one that she can get out of by coming with him. he had previously expressed that
someone as beautiful as Janie deserved better than being with Logan Killicks. At that, Joe wasn't
old; he "never specks to get too old to enjoy syrup sweeten' water when it's cools and nice." (

For Joe, she was an object to look at. However, there was one particular part of Janie that Joe did not
want to share. "That night he ordered Janie to tie up her hair around the store. That was all. She was
there in the store for him to look at, not those others."(Hurston 65). Joe was a very jealous man. He
feels the need to guard her from others as if she was a prized possession or object of some sort. He
felt that allowing her hair to show was a challenge to his authority. Jody dumps his burdens on Janie
then mistreats her for not fitting his image of a proper woman. On numerous occasions he shows
how he is selfish and abusive. Similar to Logan, Joe abuses Janie for making simple mistakes. "So
when the bread didn't rise, and the fish wasn't quite done at the bone, and the rice was scorched, he
slapped Janie until she had a ringing sound in her ears and told her about her brains before he
stalked on back to the store." (Hurston 85–86) Logan did not physically abuse Janie like Joe did and
his authority was so overwhelming she would keep quiet. No matter how controlling, abusive, and
shallow he was, Janie said nothing. After this incident, Janie looses faith in her illusion of love for

The Causes And Contributions Of The Holocaust
In Germany many collaborators aided in the implementation of the Holocaust from the civil
government agencies and business communities. "Local cooperation and leadership were essential
to the success 'coordination.' so was a bombardment of propaganda from party–controlled
newspaper and publicity enthusiastic" (Bergen 82) shows the local community was excited about a
new dynamic movement and an explanation to the defeat in the world war. Newspaper, magazines,
and films agencies picked up on the propaganda. Adolf Hitler also had close ties with large
companies who looked out and helped implement the holocaust like I.G. Farben, Bayer, IBM,
Daimler–Benz, Krupp, and Volkswagen. The Nazis campaign received a large fund from I.G. Farben
and even helped popularize their propaganda in the early stages. Therefore Hitler compromised by
sending Nazis prisoners to occupy the manufacturing plants of IG Farben. Volkswagen also were
compromised with hundreds of Nazis prisoners to work in their manufacturing camps like the many
others during the Nazis reign. Those prisoners weren't treated any differently as many of them died
from being overworked, lack of essential nutrients, and even beaten. The German business
communities were originally suspicious of the Nazis, but over time became comfortable with aiding
the Nazis which contributed to carrying out the genocide in Germany. They were primarily
motivated by the antisemitism that gradually became encouraged in Europe and the civil

Analysis Of Every Flower Must Grow Through Dirt Rameck
The well known author Laurie Jean Scott once said "Every flower must grow through dirt".This
quote illustrates that Ramecks characteristics were some of the justifications of him overcoming
adversity. Rameck overcame adversity because of his bold, intelligent, and fighting nature. One way
Rameck overcame adversity due to his bold nature. "Rameck an about 50 others refused to leave the
lobby of the building that night emphasizing the importance of their demands" (Davis 85). Ramecks
willingness to protest for a more diverse education showed that he was willing to stand up for what
he believed in when others were silent. Through this experience rameck learned that he can make a
positive differences when he has a goal in sight. "Rameck, dressed in a suit and tie and armed with
an apology, waited to see his future crumble" (Davis 87). This quote shows that when Rameck made
horrible mistakes he was brave enough to apologize. As a result of this bold nature in this situation
in which he got up in front of everyone ready to apologize he helped win over the teachers
sympathy.Without being willing to take a risk and be bold Rameck may have never had the

George Orwell 's Animal Farm And Ariel Dorfman 's...
Both George Orwell's Animal Farm and Ariel Dorfman's Rebellion of the Magical Rabbits share the
idea that people's ignorance can contribute to their political and social oppression. These stories are
both different, but at the same time are completely the same. The stories both have a different plot
but have the same deeper meaning of ignorance leading to people 's social and political oppression.
George Orwell used real life experiences of when political leaders took over the Soviet Union and
created a communist society to inspire his book while Ariel Dorfman used real life experiences of
when Chile was taken over by a harsh dictatorship and the people of Chile were restricted from most

Another relation that these two writers have is that they both quit or were forced out of their
government positions. Ariel Dorfman was in a government position under a socialist who was
overthrown by a dictatorship. This is unlike George Orwell, who served under the communist idea,
otherwise known as a dictatorship. Ariel Dorfman was born in Buenas Aires, Argentina in 1942 and
is still alive today. Both of these authors also had similar writing styles by using allegories of the
dictatorships in their countries. These two authors have a lot in common and have similar writing
styles in their books, Animal Farm and The Rebellion Of The Magical Rabbits. You will read about
how George Orwell and Ariel Dorfman used allegories, ironies, and real life experiences to express
the lesson that people 's ignorance can lead to their oppression. Both Animal Farm and The
Rebellion Of The Magical Rabbits have the idea that people 's ignorance lead to their oppression.
Some evidence from Animal Farm that helps me support my thesis is when the author states,´´As
Clover looked down the hillside her eyes filled with tears. If she could have spoken her thoughts; it
would have been to say that this was not what they had aimed at when they had set themselves years

A Rose For Emily Character Analysis
The text "A Rose for Emily," is a story of a strange southern woman that does not handle death very
well and attempts multiple times to keep the dead bodies of her loved ones. The people in her town,
Jefferson, never diagnosed her with an illness. Yet, had the townspeople had a chance to speak with
her daily and understand her, they would have seen that she was a crazy woman. Rather than just
constantly feeling sorry for her the way that everyone did and looking past the idea that it was just
her way of coping and handling death. After careful evaluation of the story, using the psychological
strategy, the main character of " A Rose for Emily," Miss Emily Grierson is a delusional character.
In the beginning, it states that, "A deputation waited upon her, knocked at the door through which no
visitor had passed since she ceased giving china–painting lessons eight or ten years earlier." (W.
Faulkner, 85) This indicates that Miss Emily was isolated, she cut herself off from the community
and did not have much social interaction in a long period. This was after her father's death, this may
have partially contributed to Miss Emily losing her touch and becoming a delusional woman. As
well as, Miss Emily isolating herself away from everyone for all those years. These are both
contributing factors to what may have led Emily Grierson to become this way. It is almost
impossible to not want to evaluate Miss Grierson with the psychological strategy as she shows

The Pollution Of China Caused By Goods We Use?

How do you believe we Canadians should tackle pollution in China caused by goods we use?

Introduction China has become the nation that established the scales for cheaper manufacturing and
labouring cost across the world in last few decades (You & Xu, 2010, p. 4469). It results in
attraction of companies towards the China to get the job done at lower rates as compared to other
nations. In 1961, Canada started the trade and business partnerships under the governance of Mr.

In last twenty years, China has grown into a dominant supplier of manufactured exports around the
globe. Although, it increases the interest of rural Chinese manufacturers to get settle in urban areas.
It results in an escalation in demand for electricity that is met via burning coal and use of other fossil
fuels because it is the cheapest way to meet the burgeoning need of electricity at the lowest price.
Hence, it increases the air pollution by the emission of green gases like Carbon dioxide (CO2) in
China (You & Xu, 2010, p. 4471). The environment has to face the tragic significant of increased
economy of China. The Ministry of Environment Protection of China has proclaimed that the
industrial productions, coal burning and the dust from construction sites causes the 80–90% of the
pollution in China (You & Xu, 2010, p. 4473). This data is collected from the sources analyzed from
the nine different cities of China. The key element of air pollution is the excess coal consumption in
Shijiazhuang and Nanjing. In winter, eastern parts of China are affected by a hazardous haze. This
dust–haze is a cumulative outcome of the natural factors and economic factors. The coal–fired
power plants, factories, and vehicles cause the dust–haze. The crude from oil giants is also the cause
of decreased quality of air and water. The rapid development of China with

Drunkenness In Mark Twain's The Adventures Of Tom Sawyer
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is about a boy named Tom Sawyer who is trying to gain more
freedom by maturing. During this process, he gets himself and his friends into various predicaments
throughout the story. This book represents pushing the limits reasonable and acceptable social
behavior. Drunkenness in certain situations is a prime example of pushing the limits of acceptable
social behavior. If Muff Potter wasn't a heavy drinker, he wouldn't have been blamed for the murder
of Dr. Robinson. Potter didn't remember what had happened because he had passed out from being
drunk, which resulted in him not being able to defend himself when in court because he believed

One being is when Tom Sawyer is told by Aunt Polly to whitewash the fence and he invents a
scheme to get all of the kids to do it for him (13). The trick being that Tom tricks Aunt Polly into
believing he accomplished the task and in an exceptional amount of time. Another incident
including Tom and Aunt Polly is when he returns from the island and tells Aunt Polly he had a
dream, which consists of the things the town was saying about the boys who had been missing, but
really, Tom went back to the town and listened in on what Aunt Polly and what other people in the
town were saying (113). This makes Aunt Polly remorseful of how she treated Tom in the past.
Later, Aunt Polly finds out that Tom had returned because Joe's mother told her that they came back
that night, and Tom's dream was fake. Lastly, another example is of the class kids playing tricks on
Mr. Dobbins. On Examination Day, the boys tie a cat to a makeshift rope and lower him down to
Mr. Dobbins while he is trying to draw a map on the blackboard, as a result of his drunkenness, Mr.

Art's Identity In Making It Home By Wendell Berry
In Wendell Berry's "Making it home," he uses the contrast in the character's identity to demonstrate
a change. Berry accomplishes this by characterizing Art's three stages of life; the soldier, the man
and the farmer. Berry uses the contrast of Art's life as a soldier to establish a change in his identity.
Art's view of the army after being released, "I reckon I am done marching, have marched my last
step, and now I am walking. There is nobody in front of me and nobody behind. I have come here
without a by–your–leave to anybody" (85). The change in Art's walking as characterized by Berry
describes a sense freedom; there is no structure that he has to follow. As in the sense of freedom that
Berry demonstrates he also over exaggerates the fit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Berry depicts is ceasing, he is finally able to not feel responsible for the lives of other soldiers. He is
in the full sense of the world free. Art's attraction to the freedom of a farmer, "It was as familiar to
him as breathing, and because he was outside it still, he yearned toward it as a ghost might" (93).
Berry compares Art to a ghost for his identity as a farmer is calling him home, toward freedom and
balance. Berry emphasizes Art's excitement to arriving home, "They would already have begun
plowing, he thought–his father and his brother, Mart. Though they had begun the year without him,
they would be expecting him. He could hear his father's voice saying, "Any day now. Any day" (90).
Wendell Berry's emphasis on Art arriving home marks the end of Art's journey as farming to him is a
natural response. He is eager to rejoin the farming community for he believes that the fresh air and

Examples Of How To Tell A True War Story Rhetorical Analysis
Tim O'Brien's classic war chronicle, The Things They Carried, elucidates the theatrical and vivid
experiences of his days in Vietnam. In How to Tell a True War Story, O'Brien specifically writes the
chapter to explain the reasoning and motifs behind his stories however, decides to alter the truth to
do so. Why does O'Brien lie in his writing? This answer to this question is explained throughout the
chapter by using coherence to unify the chapter, by including pathos to create pathos to connect with
the reader, and by utilizing paradox to question the validity of his writing. From beginning to end,
O'Brien manages to use coherence to tie up the whole chapter as a whole. This is accomplished very
subtlety as it is not completely evident that this is his ultimate goal. By starting with an objective at
the start of each paragraph, he uses the rest of the paragraph to provide an explanation for his point.
O'Brien writes, "A true war story is never moral. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
"War is hell, but that's not the half of it, because war is mystery and terror and adventure and
courage and discovery and holiness and pity and despair and longing and love. War is nasty; war is
fun. War is thrilling; war is drudgery. War makes you a man; makes you dead." (80). This cluster of
paradoxes and emotions genuinely defines what the soldiers felt during and after their service in
war. Explaining a war story is a difficult task. As a person attempts to explain what they
experienced, they become overwhelmed, get caught up in their own emotions, and in result the truth
about war is never expressed. "Because she wasn't listening. It wasn't a war story. It was a love
story. But you can't say that. All you can do is tell it one more time, patiently, adding and
subtracting, making up a few things to get at the real truth" (85). In order to relay the truth about
war, Tim O'Brien believes in shifting the truth for a greater

Gatsby Old Rich
Upon Daisy's arrival to Nick's house for tea, Jay Gatsby has gone out of his way to finally make his
dream become true; the dream to get Daisy again. Although Gatsby may perceive to be rather
formal, charming, and handsome, he wishes to be old rich but he cannot gain this tittle. Although he
may have everything in the world, the only way for him to gain this title is for him to marry Daisy.
Through Gatsby's sumptuous parties in the first half of The Great Gatsby and using Nick to bring
them back together, the climax of the novel finally comes. The author, F. Scott Fitzgerald, displays
Gatsby's inability to let Daisy go through his desire to gain the title of being old rich; his
appearance, his clumsiness with the clock, and the weather's effect on his emotions exemplify this
theme. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After Nick had set up their tea party at 3 o'clock, Gatsby arrived nervously wearing "a white flannel
suit, silver shirt, and gold–colored tie... He was pale, and there were dark signs of sleeplessness
beneath his eyes"(84). Gatsby wearing a white suit displays how little he cares of getting his suit
dirty. While laundry was a harder task in the 1920s than it is in today's time period, white was harder
to keep clean. In addition, Gatsby's purpose of wearing a silver shirt and gold tie were only to
impress Daisy with his wealth while they are both two colors that stand out. Not only did Gatsby put
in all this effort, time, and money into his outfit, his qualities of 'sleepless' through his eyes indicated
how much he cared about this event. While Gatsby consisted of all the qualities, he must of gotten
no sleep all night because he could not move his thoughts away from Daisy. The appearance of Jay
Gatsby indicates how much he wants Daisy from Tom but also his drive to get the title of being old

Armstrong Production Company a Study in Capital Structure
The Armstrong Production Company is an industry–leading firm in the field of manufacturing
synthetic building materials for homes and commercial structures, based near St. Louis. Armstrong
was fortunate in its initial stages to quickly secure inexpensive funding in the form of developmental
loans issued by the State of Illinois, and thus was able to break even within three years of its
founding in the early 1970s. Able to pour resources into its research and development segment,

...How an increase or decrease in business risk alters the cost of capital, the optimal capital structure,
and future budgeting decisions, and...
6. ...How adding and paying off debt in various stages affects risk. For this we will look at two
scenarios in which $30 million at 10% is added to Armstrong's existing debt, followed by either
another load of debt of $100 million at 11% and using $30 million of that to pay off the previous
debt issue and $70 million to buy back stock, or by simply adding another $70 million in debt
without using it to pay off the previous $30 million debt issue.
When analyzing capital structure, it is first important to understand what exactly what types of risk
we need to identify. To clearly gain a full idea of how capital structure affects a business's ability to
stay in operation, we must identify its business and financial risks. A business risk is one which
affects a company's ability to pay for its operations – its wages, rent, utility bills, supplies, and the
like. A financial risk is one which affects a company's ability to repay creditors. Financial risk is
closely tied to the amount of debt that a company has already assumed, as debt accumulates interest
which must be considered and eventually addressed. On the other hand, business risk is not, in
theory, affected by the amount of debt that a company owes, and therefore we

Erich Maria Remarque's All Quiet On The Western Front
1. Introduction War is a cruel and brutal state of conflict between nations and/or armies, and results
in the deaths of thousands of men and women. War can be known to change people physically and
mentally, and typically not for the better. World War One, typically referred to as WW1, the War to
End All Wars, or the Great War, lasted roughly four years and resulted in millions of deaths as well
as tens of millions of casualties. Of these men on the battlefield, is author Erich Maria Remarque,
who is well known for his novel, All Quiet on the Western Front. Against war in general, Remarque
uses character Paul Baumer from his novel, and reflects his experiences in WW1 to show the
ruthlessness and savagery of war.

Prior to the release of his bestseller, Remarque had lived a relatively successful but unstable life as a
growing author and novelist. (Eksteins) Eventually, Remarque would move on to writing novels,
where his fame and success begin. Remarque writes during a time period known as the Lost
Generation, a moment in time that reflects everything that has happened following the end of World
War One. His writings left lasting impressions on future novels of the time period as well as those
that reflect the reality of war. "One biography refers to him as a 'chronicler of the twentieth century,'
and most of his novels indeed reflect German problems in that century: two world wars and the
successive Weimar and Nazi regimes in Germany, and more particularly their effects on the
individual... This study presents him as a writer of considerable importance to twentieth–century
Germany –– and he remains very much a German writer despite his exile years –– who treated
serious themes in a way that holds the reader's interest." (Murdoch) 85 years later and Remarque's

The Importance Of Heroic Characters In The Odyssey
Greek mythology, stories with gods and heroes, take readers to a whole new world and introduce
many heroic characters. In the epic poem, The Odyssey by Homer, Odysseus travels the world with
his men and face many obstacles. The warrior is sent on a ten–year journey to Troy and takes ten
years to make it back to his hometown, Ithaca. He travels the world and face challenges who shape
him to be wise, fearless and prevailing. Odysseus is wise. For example, in book 9, while Odysseus
and his men rest in the Cyclops's cave, he tells it, "Here's liquor to wash down your scraps of men.
Taste it, and see the kind of drink we carried under our planks. I meant it for an offering if you
would help us home" (9.254–257). This shows that in this scene, Odysseus is wise for tricking the
Cyclops to drink the wine by being humble and giving him an "offering". This also shows that
Odysseus planned for the Cyclops to get drunk and pass out from drinking the wine. In addition, the
narrator describes how carefully Odysseus examines his bow during the testing ceremony by
writing, "Odysseus took his time turning the bow, tapping it, every inch, for borings that termites
might have made while the master of the weapon was abroad" (21. 15–18). This shows that
Odysseus was taking his time to study the bow so he could skillfully take his shot without missing
the target. This also shows that he calculates the way he would have to hold and shoot the bow
because he observed "every inch" of it. Although suitors were insulting Odysseus, he took his time
and ignored what they said. Because of his quick thinking and wits, Odysseus is wise by being able
to act carefully and succeed. Odysseus is fearless. For example, in book 9, Odysseus shouts with
confidence to Poseidon, "If I could take your like I would and take your time away, and hurl you
down to hell! The gods of earthquake could not heal you there!" (9.447–449). This shows that
Odysseus bravely takes on the water god, Poseidon, who is immortal, and may put Odysseus in
challenging situations. This also shows that although Poseidon has more power than him, Odysseus
is fearless and has the confidence to face him even though he has much to risk. In addition, in book

The Effect Of Morale On Employee 's Job Attitudes And...
Title: The effect of morale on employee's job attitudes and emotions.
Thesis: Does the morale of employees in the company influence their job attitudes and emotions? If
the employee morale is high, they would have a positive attitude and productivity would increase or
be stable. However, if the employees' morale is diminished or nonexistent, their attitude and emotion
towards work would be negative. By having a pessimistic attitude would signify that the employee
morale is low. Furthermore, this could potentially prohibit the productivity of the employee and
damage their job attitude if no actions are taken.
I. Introduction
1. Describe what morale is and the significance of it.
2. Morale is the psychological state of an individual as expressed in self–confidence, enthusiasm,
and loyalty to a cause or company. (Merriam–Webster dictionary) The significance of morale in the
work center is crucial; because it ties into the employee's attitude and emotions
i. Morale is defined in multiple ways, but in the work environment morale is defined as "the degree
to which an employee feels good about his/her work and work environment". (Chungsup, Lee 2014)
II. Background
1. Newman Harrison (2006) states that job attitudes defined as desired contribution made to one's
work role.
2. Morale intertwines with job attitudes and individual emotions, because morale is based on the
workers emotions. If a worker is happy it will most likely be that their morale would be high.

Also there are wide range of avenues in terms education, financial backup, conducive socio–
economic culture which has allured pool of talented people to take up entrepreneurship as a career
option.
Government has taking initiative to bring array of programmes and funding offers for technological
startups, Self employment schemes specially for youngsters/women living in rural areas. Which will
in turn help entrepreneurs to start up new business where risk is high without hesitation as fear of
failure is reduced with government and social– culture support.
Since traditional large employers– including the government and the old economy player–may find
it difficult to sustain this level of employment in future, it is entrepreneurs who will create these new
jobs and opportunities.
Hence, this issue has brought the attention of government and major player in the economy.
A recent Mckinsey & Company–Nasscom report estimates that India needs at least 8,000 new
businesses to achieve its target of building a US$87 billion IT sector by 2008.

We believe C&C's target market consists of middle to high income men and women as well as
very high income women and in order to succeed, C&C must establish itself as the top of mind

In terms of Place, C&C's mail order distribution channel satisfies the customer needs better
than the existing retail model. C&C should focus on further strengthening the existing
distribution channel and mitigating the customer's reluctance to embracing the mail order mode
compared to bricks and mortar retail. An analysis of the distribution channel through the P.O.I.M.
framework will demonstrate the strengths and potential weaknesses of the C&C distribution
model and the best course of action for addressing these attributes. Flower shoppers are in the habit
of physically seeing and smelling the flowers in addition to customizing their flower arrangements
prior to a purchase. To many, the notion of purchasing flowers without this physical interaction will
seem risky, particularly because most users of this service will be purchasing the flowers as a gift for
another recipient. C&C's attempts to satisfy the need for physical interaction by diversifying
into retail outlets could lead to potentially disastrous consequences on their value propositions of
freshness and high quality. We therefore recommend that C&C not open retail outlets and
instead compensate for the lack of physical interaction (higher perceived risk from the customer's
stand point) by carefully cultivating a brand image of quality and luxury. Additionally, these
perceived risks can be addressed by guaranteeing 100% satisfaction for

The Great Gatsby By F. Scott Fitzgerald

information about that person that may or may not be true. Clothing also plays a large role in first
impressions of characters in The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, who uses clothing to give
information about each character and who they are or wish they were. Fitzgerald carefully describes
the clothing of each character, using color, material, and quality to expose each character 's

Fitzgerald chooses to have Daisy in another color to show the unattainability of the "American
Dream". The color lavender taints the immaculate image that it the dream had before, and the white
that Daisy had worn. Gatsby spends his entire life chasing Daisy or the "American Dream", but is
only able to change his socioeconomic status, which the "American Dream"promises, through
criminal activity. Like the "American Dream" Daisy is also unattainable to Gatsby because she is
married. Gatsby is only able to have Daisy by her having an affair, which many people would view
as a sin or illegal. Daisy wears lavender instead of white shows that the "American Dream" is
unachievable, unless some illegal actions are involved. Fitzgerald also chooses to make Daisy's hat
lavender to symbolize femininity, grace and elegance, words that are often used to describe Daisy.
The last time that Fitzgerald mentions the color of Daisy's clothing is the day of "The Accident", and
he chooses to dress Daisy one final time in white. His reasoning for dressing her in white is because
in Gatsby's eyes the purity of the "American Dream" was restored. The day of the "The Accident",

Cause Of The Pequot War
The Pequot War The Pequot War was a very bloody war during the early colonial period of the
Americas and had a great effect on the Americas. However, it is what happened before the Pequot
War that truly gives light to why it happened. Before the war, the New England colonies were
expanding greatly, and this thusly caused the colonists to come into conflict with the indigenous
people of the Americas (Meuwese, 2011). Preparing for a battle with the indigenous peoples, John
Winthrop had prepared the New Englanders for conflict by, according to Schultz (2010), "agreeing
to train all male colonists to use fire arms, forbidding Indians' entering Puritan towns, and
forbidding Puritans' selling firearms to Indians" (p. 41). There were minor ... Show more content on

This war demonstrated how the relations between the indigenous peoples of the Americas and the
colonizing Europeans during future interactions (Schultz, 2010). In addition to this war, which
occurred in the 1630s, just 10 years prior, in the year 1622, similar conflicts with the indigenous
peoples of the Americas had happened in Jamestown (Schultz, 2010). This was also due to the
expansion of a colony, this time the colony of Jamestown, causing increased tensions with the
indigenous peoples. The conflict between Jamestown and the native peoples truly started once their
leadership changed with the death of Powhatan in the year 1618 and passed on to his successor,
Opechancanough (Schultz, 2010). Opechancanough sought to eliminate the colonists, planning a
formidable assault against the colonists that finally came to fruition in the year 1622 (Schultz,
2010). This intense attack against the colonists wiped out 357 of the English colonists of
Jamestown, which was roughly one–fourth of their population at the time of the attack (Schultz,
2010). The colonists, furious of this attack, felt it gave them the right and reason to retaliate against
Opechancanough and his tribe, as well as ever other indigenous person that they encountered along
the way (Schultz, 2010). It is because of this that the colonists felt that the native peoples were

Haybaler Problem
Haybaler Problem Problem Statement The haybaler problem is we are trying to find the weights of

82, 83, 84, 85, 86, 87, 88, 90, and 91. What are the weights of the individual hay bales? Is there an
easier way to find the weights? Process As a group, we looked over the hay bale weights and took a
couple minutes to brainstorm. We gave out some reasonable guesses, and worked them out. After we
found out that all of them were incorrect, we had to find a new strategy. So, we made squares and
put certain numbers into them, and then tried to move them around to make them fit the
requirements. We did this because it was an easier way to tie down the numbers and see if they
would add up to the answer needed. It also helped us keep our numbers organized. Some numbers
we took out of the available numbers were 42, 45, 51, 52, and 50. Some reasonable guesses we took
were; 38, 39, 40, 41, 37, 36, and 46. Finally, everyone was stuck so we worked as a class to figure

Essay On Macbeth And Wuthering Heights
Why are women so controlling in everything? In William Shakespeare's Macbeth and Emily
Bronte's Wuthering Heights, the women takes control, over men, in the relationship. Sexism and
jealousy are the two biggest problems in an existing relationship. The readers finds out how
ambition, sexism, and jealousy takes over lives. In other words, too much ambition may be fatal.
When women don't get what they want, bad things are subject to happen. Women will always rule
the face of the earth until none are left. Lady Macbeth rules the relationship over Macbeth himself.
She wanted her husband, Macbeth, to kill Duncan, but he wasn't going for it at all. Lady Macbeth
quotes, "Art thou afeard... live a coward" (Shakespeare 1.7.39–43). Lady Macbeth starts to criticize
Macbeth for not being man to murder Duncan.
Would you go for a woman that already has a spouse? Women also has the power over men.
Catherine was in relationship, Edgar. Also, she had a man, Heathcliff, that she didn't want to tie the
knot with. Catherine quotes, "It would degrade me to marry Heathcliff" (Bronte 81). She doesn't
want to marry Heathcliff because Edgar has a higher class ranking.
When a man gets tired of something, he will eventually react to it. Positively or negatively, he will
regain his control in the relationship. Hindley starts getting some manhood in him after he's fed up.

Examples Of Breaking Norms
During February the 2nd I started to keep track of what I was doing and the norms I was following
of breaking. My first behavior that I notice I was doing over and over was eye contact. When I was
at work I made plenty of eye contact with my guest throughout their dinner. Eye contact with my
guest shows them I'm paying attention to them and their needs, it shows them that I'm keeping up
and not ignoring them. While taking their order I made sure to make eye contact showing them that
I'm focus on them and giving them respect. This behavior falls under the norms of folkway because
the standard of the behavior is socially approved but not morally significant. This is an everyday
behavior that mostly everyone follows because of its culture or traditions. ... Show more content on

I saw everyone around me using different behaviors that would follow in a norms category. We
follow many norms without trying and that is because these norms are in culture. The majority of
the norms show respect, they also keep us from doing horrible things. Without norms there could be
more crime and the world would be totally different. My opinion is that norms and common sense
are alike because we know what is right or wrong because of them. For example If someone kills
another human is common sense that is wrong and one knows that there is a severe punishment for
this action. A norm is about the same and telling you what is wrong or not and showing you the
consequences of your behavior. The difference is that a norm has categories with different
punishments or rewards. Norms make life easier if follow and they are a great way to become a
better person for everyone if

Alfie Kohn's The Case Against Grades
"Grades don't prepare children for the 'real world'– unless one has in mind a world where interest in
learning and quality of thinking are unimportant" (Kohn, 9). Grades, as we all know, have been the
ultimate form of estimating how much of a certain subject someone has learned for many years. As
the years have passed however, new innovative ways to help the way kids learn, other than judging
them with numerical values and letters, have surfaced that can possibly rid us of this barbaric
system. Alfie Kohn has done a very effective job explaining them, while pointing out many of the
flaws in the old schooling system with his read "The Case Against grades". He does this by
providing eye–opening facts along with refreshingly innovative ideas to get the reader's attention
while tapping into their emotions and allowing these two to join forces to create a logical appeal. ...

This quote was to grab the reader's attention and gain some sort of sympathy from the reader on an
issue to easy to remove oneself from. He goes on to list the effects that grading has on children and
adults mentally. After providing numerous facts on that case, he moves on to the blunt statement of
why grading is problematic. He goes through major subjects very boldly like how grades reduce the
quality of a student's thinking (Kohn, 2), where he explains how getting graded will make a student
want to take the easier route just to earn a better grade. He eventually begins his solution on how we
can possibly get rid of grading and come up with a better system to share the Information that the
children have newly

Gait Patterns

  • 1. Gait Patterns A journal which discusses and characterises gait in terms of healthy and hemiparetic is "Characterization of gait pattern by 3D angular accelerations in hemiparetic and healthy gait". In this journal, the study was conducted on 10 healthy subjects ( 3 females and 7 males ) and 10 hemiparetic subjects which were ranked based on how much assistance was required during a normal gait cycle. This is known as the FAC (Functional Ambulatory Category) and is built around a 5 point system. An FAC of greater than 0 was required for participation in this study. A score of one indicated that the subject required contact with at least one person when moving on a level surface to prevent falling, while a score of 5 indicated that the affected individual could move independently on flat and inclined, even and uneven surfaces. In beginning the collection of data, the subjects were fitted with 2 accelerometers on the shank and another accelerometer was placed at the joint rotation axis on the knee. The primary aim of this study is to show differences in the gait patterns of hemiparetic and healthy gait based on the angular accelerations of the thigh, shank and foot as well as to obtain information about gait phases (mid stance, swing phase, etc) through signals. Accelerations were also analysed in the frontal plane compared to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This meant that her cognitive functions were deteriorating (Vink). She rapidly began to forget what she once knew. She could no longer recognize her children. She even forgot her name. The possibility of her memories being restored quickly became a hopeless case. However, there was one thing my great–grandmother could recognize and remember; music. When her daughter played some of her favorite tunes she would bob her head to the beat of the music. On some days, she'd mouth the lyrics she had learned up to 50 years ago. The memories that had seem hopelessly lost forever had been temporarily restored through music. Music therapy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This phenomenon occurs when a person creates a "direct association of a musical event with some extramusical object or event, so that emotions previously associated with the extramusical object come to be associated with the music" (Dowling 204). Because musical pieces portray emotions, different music make people feel different things and thus get associated with different things. Jay Dowling and Dane Harwood explain that "patterns within the music itself ... of tensions and relaxations ... mirror the form of emotional tensions and relaxations" (Dowling 205) that humans relate to their own. This is shown by a study where every subject who associated a song with their current relationship explained that the song gave them the pleasant emotions that their relationship provided (Baumgartner 616). Music helps us remember events and feel emotions – whether we want to or not. This phenomenon has changed the way we experience and remember songs. Humans have associated certain music with events and emotions for as long as we had the capability to (Baumgartner 316), so listening to these familiar sounds brings forth the memories that come with ... • 13. The Importance Of My Experiences In High School Schools Nandini Pasagadugula Period– 7 WE SHOULD HAVE SCHOOL UNIFORMS I was 7 years old when I first started wearing a uniform at my school in Meridian, India. My morning routine was quite simple. It started off with me putting on my navy blue skirt, white button down blouse and a dark blue tie. I'd run I ran down the stairs to put on my jet black shoes with white socks as my mom braided my hair. Then we'd have a leisurely breakfast where she'd make me my favorite chocolate chips pancakes and I would head to school. At school, I would see my friends and classmates wearing the exact same white button down shirt paired with a navy blue skirt and a navy blue tie, and black shoes; We all looked the same. Nobody made fun of each other, we didn't compare ourselves and no one picked on someone else because of their appearance. I didn't care what I was wearing or how I looked at all my friends would also be wearing the same clothes as I did. Now, 5 years later, I live in Glastonbury and go to Glastonbury High School. On, my first day of school, I saw different styles of clothing and most of the students were wearing expensive brands like a shirt from Ralph Lauren that cost almost $85, a belt from Gucci that was almost $450 and many other expensive pieces of clothing. This scared me a little. I started to question," Are my clothes good enough?" As a result, I spend half of my time trying to decide what to wear since I care more about how I look and how I present myself to others. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Friendship differs from the familial tie between two as friendships occur between two people who essentially choose one another by finding similarities either in personality or certain interests. Each person relies on the other for support and encouragement when obstacles become difficult. In ancient literature, the true meaning of friendship is based on the qualities of honor, trust, and encouragement which is shared among the two in order to create a stronger bond. Achilles' personality changes when he is around Patroclus from temperate and arrogant, to more kindhearted and warm. Homer makes no allegations towards this concept throughout The Iliad, yet the incredibly powerful relationship they share could possibly be love, but it is hard to tell given there is some evidence that present this theory, but that evidence may also be translated as a love between two friends. In Book XVIII of The Iliad, Achilles learns of Patroclus' death, and while talking to his mother about his grief, Achilles tells her "Patroclus, my dearest friend of them all. I loved him," (Homer, pg. 285, line 85). Yes, Achilles did love Patroclus, but in a way, two very close friends love one another which is what Achilles calls Patroclus, his dearest friend. • 26. The Great Gatsby By F. Scott Fitzgerald When meeting someone for the first time a large part of an initial impression is their clothing. The colors, quality and style of their clothing can give information about them as a person that may or may not be true. F. Scott Fitzgerald, the author of The Great Gatsby, utilizes clothing as an informer of each character's lifestyle and their desires. Fitzgerald carefully depicts each character's clothing using color, material, and quality to expose their insecurities. He uses clothing to give details about each character because it is an extension of the characters and displays their self–expression. Unlike race or eye color, clothing is not permanent and can be easily changed, which Fitzgerald uses to exhibit character's status, emotions, and personalities. In the novel, character mask who they are using their clothing to fit the standards or others while trying to achieve the American Dream. In the beginning of The Great Gatsby, Daisy Buchanan is introduced wearing a white dress. Fitzgerald continues to have her dressed in the color white which may be because of its connotations with purity, innocence, and old money. Daisy is reintroduced to Gatsby at Nick Carraway's house, wearing a lavender hat, "Daisy's face, tipped side–ways beneath a three–cornered lavender hat, looked out at me with a bright ecstatic smile"(85), this scene is the first scene where Daisy is not described in white. This implies that her current situation is one that she can get out of by coming with him. he had previously expressed that someone as beautiful as Janie deserved better than being with Logan Killicks. "That night he ordered Janie to tie up her hair around the store. That was all. She was there in the store for him to look at, not those others."(Hurston 65). Joe was a very jealous man. He feels the need to guard her from others as if she was a prized possession or object of some sort. He felt that allowing her hair to show was a challenge to his authority. Jody dumps his burdens on Janie then mistreats her for not fitting his image of a proper woman. On numerous occasions he shows how he is selfish and abusive. • 34. The Causes And Contributions Of The Holocaust In Germany many collaborators aided in the implementation of the Holocaust from the civil government agencies and business communities. "Local cooperation and leadership were essential to the success 'coordination.' so was a bombardment of propaganda from party–controlled newspaper and publicity enthusiastic" (Bergen 82) shows the local community was excited about a new dynamic movement and an explanation to the defeat in the world war. Newspaper, magazines, and films agencies picked up on the propaganda. Adolf Hitler also had close ties with large companies who looked out and helped implement the holocaust like I.G. Farben, Bayer, IBM, Daimler–Benz, Krupp, and Volkswagen. The Nazis campaign received a large fund from I.G. Farben and even helped popularize their propaganda in the early stages. Therefore Hitler compromised by sending Nazis prisoners to occupy the manufacturing plants of IG Farben. Volkswagen also were compromised with hundreds of Nazis prisoners to work in their manufacturing camps like the many others during the Nazis reign. Those prisoners weren't treated any differently as many of them died from being overworked, lack of essential nutrients, and even beaten. The German business communities were originally suspicious of the Nazis, but over time became comfortable with aiding the Nazis which contributed to carrying out the genocide in Germany. Analysis Of Every Flower Must Grow Through Dirt Rameck The well known author Laurie Jean Scott once said "Every flower must grow through dirt".This quote illustrates that Ramecks characteristics were some of the justifications of him overcoming adversity. Rameck overcame adversity because of his bold, intelligent, and fighting nature. One way Rameck overcame adversity due to his bold nature. "Rameck an about 50 others refused to leave the lobby of the building that night emphasizing the importance of their demands" (Davis 85). Ramecks willingness to protest for a more diverse education showed that he was willing to stand up for what he believed in when others were silent. Through this experience rameck learned that he can make a positive differences when he has a goal in sight. "Rameck, dressed in a suit and tie and armed with an apology, waited to see his future crumble" (Davis 87). This quote shows that when Rameck made horrible mistakes he was brave enough to apologize. As a result of this bold nature in this situation in which he got up in front of everyone ready to apologize he helped win over the teachers sympathy.Without being willing to take a risk and be bold Rameck may have never had the prerequisites to ever beat the streets let alone to become a decent human being. ... Both George Orwell's Animal Farm and Ariel Dorfman's Rebellion of the Magical Rabbits share the idea that people's ignorance can contribute to their political and social oppression. These stories are both different, but at the same time are completely the same. The stories both have a different plot but have the same deeper meaning of ignorance leading to people 's social and political oppression. George Orwell used real life experiences of when political leaders took over the Soviet Union and created a communist society to inspire his book while Ariel Dorfman used real life experiences of when Chile was taken over by a harsh dictatorship and the people of Chile were restricted from most of their freedoms. Ariel Dorfman was in a government position under a socialist who was overthrown by a dictatorship. This is unlike George Orwell, who served under the communist idea, otherwise known as a dictatorship. Ariel Dorfman was born in Buenas Aires, Argentina in 1942 and is still alive today. Both of these authors also had similar writing styles by using allegories of the dictatorships in their countries. These two authors have a lot in common and have similar writing styles in their books, Animal Farm and The Rebellion Of The Magical Rabbits. Some evidence from Animal Farm that helps me support my thesis is when the author states,´´As Clover looked down the hillside her eyes filled with tears. My morning routine was quite simple. It started off with me putting on my navy blue skirt , white button down blouse and a dark blue tie. I'd run I ran down the stairs to put on my jet black shoes with white socks as my mom braided my hair. Then we'd have a leisurely breakfast where she'd make me my favorite chocolate chips pancakes and I would head to school. At school,I would to see my friends and classmates wearing the exact same white button down shirt paired with a navy blue skirt and a navy blue tie , and black shoes; We all looked the same. Nobody made fun of each other, we didn't compare ourselves and no one picked on someone else because of their appearance. I didn't care what I was wearing or how I looked as all my friends would also be wearing the same clothes as I did. Now, 5 years later, I live in Glastonbury and go to Glastonbury High School. On, my first day of school I saw different styles of clothing and most of the students were wearing expensive brands like a shirt from Ralph Lauren that cost almost $85, a belt from Gucci that was almost $450 and many other expensive pieces of clothing. A Rose For Emily Character Analysis The text "A Rose for Emily," is a story of a strange southern woman that does not handle death very well and attempts multiple times to keep the dead bodies of her loved ones. The people in her town, Jefferson, never diagnosed her with an illness. Yet, had the townspeople had a chance to speak with her daily and understand her, they would have seen that she was a crazy woman. Rather than just constantly feeling sorry for her the way that everyone did and looking past the idea that it was just her way of coping and handling death. After careful evaluation of the story, using the psychological strategy, the main character of " A Rose for Emily," Miss Emily Grierson is a delusional character. In the beginning, it states that, "A deputation waited upon her, knocked at the door through which no visitor had passed since she ceased giving china–painting lessons eight or ten years earlier." (W. Faulkner, 85) This indicates that Miss Emily was isolated, she cut herself off from the community and did not have much social interaction in a long period. This was after her father's death, this may have partially contributed to Miss Emily losing her touch and becoming a delusional woman. As well as, Miss Emily isolating herself away from everyone for all those years. These are both contributing factors to what may have led Emily Grierson to become this way. It is almost impossible to not want to evaluate Miss Grierson with the psychological strategy as she shows ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Berry accomplishes this by characterizing Art's three stages of life; the soldier, the man and the farmer. Berry uses the contrast of Art's life as a soldier to establish a change in his identity. Art's view of the army after being released, "I reckon I am done marching, have marched my last step, and now I am walking. There is nobody in front of me and nobody behind. I have come here without a by–your–leave to anybody" (85). The change in Art's walking as characterized by Berry describes a sense freedom; there is no structure that he has to follow. Art's burden as a soldier as Berry depicts is ceasing, he is finally able to not feel responsible for the lives of other soldiers. He is in the full sense of the world free. Art's attraction to the freedom of a farmer, "It was as familiar to him as breathing, and because he was outside it still, he yearned toward it as a ghost might" (93). Berry compares Art to a ghost for his identity as a farmer is calling him home, toward freedom and balance. Berry emphasizes Art's excitement to arriving home, "They would already have begun plowing, he thought–his father and his brother, Mart. Though they had begun the year without him, they would be expecting him. He could hear his father's voice saying, "Any day now. Any day" (90). Examples Of How To Tell A True War Story Rhetorical Analysis Tim O'Brien's classic war chronicle, The Things They Carried, elucidates the theatrical and vivid experiences of his days in Vietnam. In How to Tell a True War Story, O'Brien specifically writes the chapter to explain the reasoning and motifs behind his stories however, decides to alter the truth to do so. Why does O'Brien lie in his writing? This answer to this question is explained throughout the chapter by using coherence to unify the chapter, by including pathos to create pathos to connect with the reader, and by utilizing paradox to question the validity of his writing. From beginning to end, O'Brien manages to use coherence to tie up the whole chapter as a whole. This is accomplished very subtlety as it is not completely evident that this is his ultimate goal. By starting with an objective at the start of each paragraph, he uses the rest of the paragraph to provide an explanation for his point. O'Brien writes, "A true war story is never moral. ... When analyzing capital structure, it is first important to understand what exactly what types of risk we need to identify. To clearly gain a full idea of how capital structure affects a business's ability to stay in operation, we must identify its business and financial risks. A business risk is one which affects a company's ability to pay for its operations – its wages, rent, utility bills, supplies, and the like. A financial risk is one which affects a company's ability to repay creditors. • 106. The Importance Of Heroic Characters In The Odyssey Greek mythology, stories with gods and heroes, take readers to a whole new world and introduce many heroic characters. In the epic poem, The Odyssey by Homer, Odysseus travels the world with his men and face many obstacles. The warrior is sent on a ten–year journey to Troy and takes ten years to make it back to his hometown, Ithaca. He travels the world and face challenges who shape him to be wise, fearless and prevailing. Odysseus is wise. For example, in book 9, while Odysseus and his men rest in the Cyclops's cave, he tells it, "Here's liquor to wash down your scraps of men. Taste it, and see the kind of drink we carried under our planks. I meant it for an offering if you would help us home" (9.254–257). This shows that in this scene, Odysseus is wise for tricking the Cyclops to drink the wine by being humble and giving him an "offering". This also shows that Odysseus planned for the Cyclops to get drunk and pass out from drinking the wine. In addition, the narrator describes how carefully Odysseus examines his bow during the testing ceremony by writing, "Odysseus took his time turning the bow, tapping it, every inch, for borings that termites might have made while the master of the weapon was abroad" (21. 15–18). This shows that Odysseus was taking his time to study the bow so he could skillfully take his shot without missing the target. This also shows that he calculates the way he would have to hold and shoot the bow because he observed "every inch" of it. Although suitors were insulting Odysseus, he took his time and ignored what they said. Because of his quick thinking and wits, Odysseus is wise by being able to act carefully and succeed. Odysseus is fearless. For example, in book 9, Odysseus shouts with confidence to Poseidon, "If I could take your like I would and take your time away, and hurl you down to hell! The gods of earthquake could not heal you there!" (9.447–449). This shows that Odysseus bravely takes on the water god, Poseidon, who is immortal, and may put Odysseus in challenging situations. This also shows that although Poseidon has more power than him, Odysseus is fearless and has the confidence to face him even though he has much to risk. In addition, in book 12, when Odysseus ... Thesis: Does the morale of employees in the company influence their job attitudes and emotions? If the employee morale is high, they would have a positive attitude and productivity would increase or be stable. However, if the employees' morale is diminished or nonexistent, their attitude and emotion towards work would be negative. By having a pessimistic attitude would signify that the employee morale is low. Furthermore, this could potentially prohibit the productivity of the employee and damage their job attitude if no actions are taken. I. Introduction 1. Describe what morale is and the significance of it. 2. Morale is the psychological state of an individual as expressed in self–confidence, enthusiasm, and loyalty to a cause or company. (Merriam–Webster dictionary) The significance of morale in the work center is crucial; because it ties into the employee's attitude and emotions i. Morale is defined in multiple ways, but in the work environment morale is defined as "the degree to which an employee feels good about his/her work and work environment". (Chungsup, Lee 2014) II. Background 1. Newman Harrison (2006) states that job attitudes defined as desired contribution made to one's work role. 2. Morale intertwines with job attitudes and individual emotions, because morale is based on the workers emotions. If a worker is happy it will most likely be that their morale would be high. Calyx and Corolla Calyx and Corolla Analysis and Recommendations Our analysis confirms that Calyx and Corolla 's (C&C) concept of eliminating the middleman in the supply chain, thereby enabling the delivery of fresh flowers is unique, potentially game changing and if executed correctly, extremely profitable. We believe C&C's target market consists of middle to high income men and women as well as very high income women and in order to succeed, C&C must establish itself as the top of mind provider among its targeted segment. Achieving this goal will require aggressive advertising and clever promotions that establish a luxury brand image while substantial new funding will be required in order to meet these goals. It is our recommendation that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In terms of Place, C&C's mail order distribution channel satisfies the customer needs better than the existing retail model. C&C should focus on further strengthening the existing distribution channel and mitigating the customer's reluctance to embracing the mail order mode compared to bricks and mortar retail. An analysis of the distribution channel through the P.O.I.M. framework will demonstrate the strengths and potential weaknesses of the C&C distribution model and the best course of action for addressing these attributes. Flower shoppers are in the habit of physically seeing and smelling the flowers in addition to customizing their flower arrangements prior to a purchase. To many, the notion of purchasing flowers without this physical interaction will seem risky, particularly because most users of this service will be purchasing the flowers as a gift for another recipient. C&C's attempts to satisfy the need for physical interaction by diversifying into retail outlets could lead to potentially disastrous consequences on their value propositions of freshness and high quality. We therefore recommend that C&C not open retail outlets and instead compensate for the lack of physical interaction (higher perceived risk from the customer's stand point) by carefully cultivating a brand image of quality and luxury. Additionally, these perceived risks can be addressed by guaranteeing 100% satisfaction for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Like the "American Dream" Daisy is also unattainable to Gatsby because she is married. Gatsby is only able to have Daisy by her having an affair, which many people would view as a sin or illegal. Daisy wears lavender instead of white shows that the "American Dream" is unachievable, unless some illegal actions are involved. Fitzgerald also chooses to make Daisy's hat lavender to symbolize femininity, grace and elegance, words that are often used to describe Daisy. The last time that Fitzgerald mentions the color of Daisy's clothing is the day of "The Accident", and he chooses to dress Daisy one final time in white. However, it is what happened before the Pequot War that truly gives light to why it happened. Before the war, the New England colonies were expanding greatly, and this thusly caused the colonists to come into conflict with the indigenous people of the Americas (Meuwese, 2011). Preparing for a battle with the indigenous peoples, John Winthrop had prepared the New Englanders for conflict by, according to Schultz (2010), "agreeing to train all male colonists to use fire arms, forbidding Indians' entering Puritan towns, and forbidding Puritans' selling firearms to Indians" (p. 41). This war demonstrated how the relations between the indigenous peoples of the Americas and the colonizing Europeans during future interactions (Schultz, 2010). In addition to this war, which occurred in the 1630s, just 10 years prior, in the year 1622, similar conflicts with the indigenous peoples of the Americas had happened in Jamestown (Schultz, 2010). This was also due to the expansion of a colony, this time the colony of Jamestown, causing increased tensions with the indigenous peoples. The conflict between Jamestown and the native peoples truly started once their leadership changed with the death of Powhatan in the year 1618 and passed on to his successor, Opechancanough (Schultz, 2010). Opechancanough sought to eliminate the colonists, planning a formidable assault against the colonists that finally came to fruition in the year 1622 (Schultz, 2010). This intense attack against the colonists wiped out 357 of the English colonists of Jamestown, which was roughly one–fourth of their population at the time of the attack (Schultz, 2010). The colonists, furious of this attack, felt it gave them the right and reason to retaliate against Opechancanough and his tribe, as well as ever other indigenous person that they encountered along the way (Schultz, 2010). The weight of the bales in kilograms were; 80, 82, 83, 84, 85, 86, 87, 88, 90, and 91. What are the weights of the individual hay bales? Is there an easier way to find the weights? Process As a group, we looked over the hay bale weights and took a couple minutes to brainstorm. We gave out some reasonable guesses, and worked them out. After we found out that all of them were incorrect, we had to find a new strategy. So, we made squares and put certain numbers into them, and then tried to move them around to make them fit the requirements. We did this because it was an easier way to tie down the numbers and see if they would add up to the answer needed. It also helped us keep our numbers organized. Some numbers we took out of the available numbers were 42, 45, 51, 52, and 50. Some reasonable guesses we took were; 38, 39, 40, 41, 37, 36, and 46. Finally, everyone was stuck so we worked as a class to figure out numbers. I did not get the answer on my own. Eye contact with my guest shows them I'm paying attention to them and their needs, it shows them that I'm keeping up and not ignoring them. While taking their order I made sure to make eye contact showing them that I'm focus on them and giving them respect. Alfie Kohn's The Case Against Grades "Grades don't prepare children for the 'real world'– unless one has in mind a world where interest in learning and quality of thinking are unimportant" (Kohn, 9). Grades, as we all know, have been the ultimate form of estimating how much of a certain subject someone has learned for many years. As the years have passed however, new innovative ways to help the way kids learn, other than judging them with numerical values and letters, have surfaced that can possibly rid us of this barbaric system. Alfie Kohn has done a very effective job explaining them, while pointing out many of the flaws in the old schooling system with his read "The Case Against grades".
