Favorite memory from nursing- First day of clinical.

• Future plans: begin my journey as a
floor nurse and eventually work in a
critical care setting
• Favorite nursing memory: South
Africa Summer 2012- completing
amazing clinicals, experiencing a
new culture, seeing things that I
never dreamed of, conquering fears
(bungee jumping and shark diving!!)
and becoming closer with some of
my classmates!

My favorite nursing memory was when I was in the delivery room and
got to be the first person to hand a dad his newborn daughter.

• Practicing for all of my test outs on my roommates and taking
vitals on the entire Pat 2 floor.

Favorite nursing memory: The people-my classmates, who are great friends—the faculty,
who are inspirational role models—and patients, who I was able to care for.
Future nursing plan: Gain experience within the nursing field and become a critical care
nurse. My future nursing goal is to become a Nurse Anesthetist.

10. Maggie Engelmeier

Favorite memory: All of the friendships I have made throughout my time in the
program. I also particularly loved my entire trip to Belize in the Spring of 2011. It
made me grow as a nurse and a person in ways I would never have imagined.
Future plans: Work with veterans at a VA hospital. I also have plans to continue my
education.

class to demonstrate acute renal

My future nursing plans involve being that person that cares 'a whole
awful lot' and doing my best to make a difference in other's lives.

Future plans: Become a nurse
practitioner and open a health
clinic in Africa

15. Laura Guimond
My future plan is to obtain a full time RN position. I have loved
getting to know my fellow nursing classmates who have truly
become some of my best friends!

Future nursing plans: I will be going
to the University of Minnesota School
of Public Health in August for
epidemiology

Future Plans:
Work as a nurse for the U.S. Army and hang out
with my husband!
Great nursing memory:
Eating lunch after class with fellow nurses.
Conversation usually involved whatever bodily
functions we were learning about that day...Yum!

Future plan: moving
to Colorado to work
as an RN before grad
school.

22. Janelle Lawrence
Future Plans: I love research and I can't get enough of working with children! I hope to
work in children's hospital and become involved in nursing research after graduation. I
hope to pursue a DNP in Pediatrics or Nurse Anesthesia.
Memory: After making the decision to take his son off of life support, a father told me
that he is so thankful for what nurses do, how kind and compassionate we are, and
that he will always be thankful that his son was brought to us. A moment I will never
forget- this is why I am a nurse.

Favorite memories....Torch....I need another hot
chocolate. Laughing and having fun with my peeps Torch,
Cabor, Andres, Cronin, and Fagerholm during 379 night class!
Future Plans: Become a certified Hospice nurse and/or Advanced Practice Nurse
specializing in Hospice Care with focus on Complementary Alternative Medicine.

Future plans: Working in the critical care
immersion program for new grads starting on
cardiac medicine floor at Regions hospital.
Favorite nursing memories were in
Belize. Forming new friendships, flying
around, learning about the culture, and
experiencing many 'firsts'

Favorite nursing memory:
First sophomore clinical at a nursing home, my patient didn’t know
how to pronounce my name. So I told her ―My name is Xin, it sounds
like shinbone on your leg.‖ She replied ―oh, your name is Shin Bone,
how cute.‖

Favorite nursing memory: all the friends I have made throughout the years and
the laughs we have shared!

Favorite nursing memory: getting to know all of my nursing
classmates and professors throughout the program :)
Future nursing plans: Work as a staff RN for a few years and then
pursue further nursing education (either DNP or CNS).
Life is too short to wake up in the morning with regrets. So,
love the people who treat you right and forget about the
ones who don't. And believe that everything happens for a
reason. If you get a chance - take it; if it changes your life
- let it. Nobody said that it would be easy, they just
promised that it would be worth it.

Future plans: orthopedic floor at Mayo Clinic, Rochester

My favorite nursing memory: it’s a tie
between our entire trip to Belize(Painting
that bathroom was probably one of my
favorite and least favorite days) and
Sigrid literally pushing me into a patient’s
room on one of our first days of our
pediatric rotation.
Future nursing plans: work in Pediatrics for the rest of my life and hopefully do
some volunteering in other countries in need.

Favorite memory: I had a patient who
used to love playing poker but hadn't in
over 40 years. After some serious nagging
on my part, I finally convinced him to play
cards with me. His laughter, smiles, and
jokes were priceless!
Future plans: Working on an Oncology/Hospice floor at Mayo Clinic

My favorite memory from nursing is the trip to South
Africa in general. One word...Hunters.

My favorite nursing memory is one from South Africa. We went to AIDS
Haven, a place for kids with AIDS or parents who died of AIDS to live.
We spent time with the preschoolers. Teaching them to write and see
the smiles on their faces was really moving and eye-opening, and it
really reminded me of how precious life can be.
