This is a case study for Ahimsa Silk.
The client was incurring a huge recurring cost to maintain his website and also was not very sure what products were the users really interested in from his entire range.
2. Ahimsa Silk – Case Study 2009
Objective
To cut down the monthly hosting and website management cost
Update the website regularly with new product information
Understand what kind of products the users were interested it since a normal contact form was not
solving the purpose.
Challenges
The agency who was managing the website was taking too long to update the website
Every new update on the website was a recurring cost to the client
Solution Provided
After understanding the frequency and quantum of changes the client wanted on his website and the
amount he was spending for these updations, we first did a cost benefit analysis.
After a detailed analysis we proposed to modify the entire website and get a custom CMS to manage the
products, images, and other content sections on the website.
We further proposed to create an order management system by which users could place orders on the
website (without any payment processing, as it was a B2B business).
Looking at the core development required, size of the website and the target audience, we proposed to
switch the hosting solution to a US server which had unlimited web space yet at a very economical annual
cost.
Results Achieved
Client could manage the updations on the website in house.
There were no recurring charges incurred for website management.
Client could now upload multiple images for every product making it a better experience for its website
surfers.
Users were able to place orders on the website, which although merely served as an enquiry, but the
client was able to understand his individual user’s requirement and could provide better customer
experience.
With the change of technology, we were able to make the website Search Engine friendly and thus the
site could now be promoted well in the Search Engines going forward.
The annual hosting cost was reduced to one tenth of the costs being incurred before the revamp.
