What is RTI 2005?
Under the provisions of the Act, any citizen may request information from a
"public authority" (a body of Government or "instrumentality of State") which
is required to reply expeditiously or within thirty days.
Who is Public Authority?
Under the RTI Act, it is the duty of the PIO and the PIO alone to either provide
information or deny it. PIO will be an officer in the Department.
The applicant then has a option to file a First Appeal. FAA is an superior of PIO
in the same Department
If still not satisfied, then he can file a Second Appeal / Complaint with the
Assistant Public Information Officer
So if you want to send a letter to GHMC then you send it to
APIO, GHMC, Hyderabad, Telangana
A citizen who desires to seek some information from a public authority is required to send, along
with the application, a demand draft or a bankers cheque or an Indian Postal Order of Rs.10/-
(Rupees ten), payable to the Accounts Officer of the public authority as fee prescribed for seeking
Take a Indian Postal Order (at Post Office) of ₹20 and write on that State Public Information
officer for State Government
Take a Indian Postal Order of ₹20 and write on that Central Public Information officer for Central
Take a Court Stamp of ₹20 and write on that Presiding officer for Indian Courts
You can check at different Department Sites for RTI rules if you are not clear
There is no prescribed format for the application
And no need to mention any reason for asking this information.
But you should be Indian Citizen

or Speed Post with Acknowledgement Due.
Don’t send it in Courier
○ But this site says
○ Please do not file RTI applications through this portal for the public authorities under the State Governments, including
Government of NCT Delhi. If filed, the application would be returned, without refund of amount.
● One can use Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System
Will this really work?
I have several personal examples like
I got my Voter card
My Colleague got his Aadhar Card
My Colleague got his PF Transfer
I have lodged Tax Evasion petition
I made AP Endowments Department to lodge complaint on land
There are some efforts to weaken the RTI but it was strongly opposed by RTI
Activists and NGOs.
Political Parties should also be brought under RTI
Third Party Information
You can ask for Third Party Information
But it will be given only if the third party agrees to give it after receiving notice
If a document is Public you should be able to get information even without the
consent of third party
The definition of Public Document will change from time to time based on CIC
Use twitter to complain and your complaint will be attended faster.
Complain on Banks at https://secweb.rbi.org.in/BO/precompltindex.htm
Fight against Corruption
If you don’t bribe and use RTI then you are doing everything that you can to
No need to change everyone or fight against mafia to reduce corruption.
Democracy is useless if we don’t question
Give back to Motherland on 70th Independence Day
