2. Front Cover
The front cover introduced the artist, Drake, so that he is seen as the main focus and demonstrates his star persona. This front cover
portrays the conventional features rapper, such as gold chains. The use of an item such as gold suggests wealth and status. Drake I
contact to the camera in this album cover however is very limited suggesting the album may focus on a particular topic such as love,
highlighted by the name of the album. The front cover is subversive to what we can expect from a rapper in the modern day world
.The typography is quite feminine, it is not what we would expect from Drake, instead we would expect simplistic Impact font. Drake,
like many artists is not places our name on the front cover this reinforces how much his star persona matters because audience know
who he is without him needing to place his name on the front cover.
3. Inner Digipak Panel
The first picture inside Drakes did you pack is again all about building his ego and star persona. The picture
emphasises items that suggest the genre of his music. Fact he is smoking and smoking a cigar presents the
idea that he has a ‘Bad boy image’ which could relate to his music and suggest the genre of Rap or R&B. Again
the gold colour remained consistent throughout the album continuing the idea of power and wealth, and the
ideology that Drake could be held up in a mansion.
4. Further Inside The Digipak
This particular part of the DigiPak, highlights the song names and underneath provides a brief description of the
people who played a part in the production. I would imagine that this is more for business purposes than the
entertainment of the audience. However, the background image on this page still maintains a wealthy mansion
and continues with the gold theme yet again, highlighting the need for consistency when you’re a superstar in the
music industry.
5. Dedications Page
In my opinion this particular part of the Digipak absolutely screams global music sensation, with an entire page
being dedicated to all the people that supported Drake on his way up the so cold music food chain. The
background image of an owl could suggest Drake being a wiser person however for those that didn’t know it is
actually the symbol of Drake’s own record label, OVOXO. The Owl, is however significant as it appears to be
made out of pure gold, another indication of wealth maintained in the entire Digipak.
6. Poster Page
Again, I feel that this is yet another part of the Digipak to Take Care that underlines Drake’s superstar persona, as
it is intended as a image that a fan will put on their bedroom wall whilst they listen to the album. Drake uses a very
limited amount of text in his Digipak, most likely because he knows, his album, images, wealth and success can
do the talking, something that is easy to pull of if you already have star power and value.
7. End Credits
In this instance you could say that the end credits almost act as filler for the Digipak and that there actually purely
for business purposes. But they are extremely important as this gives Drake a chance to personally shine light on
the brilliant individuals who again contributed to Drake’s album success, this comes across as a man who is in fact
very wise and is humble enough to share credit, contradicting the male rapper stereotype.
8. Back Cover
The black and gold text allows the album to maintain consistency from the Front to the Back page of the Digipak.
The typography of the text is very retro and extremely easy to read, also the golf font colour allows the idea of
wealth and money to continue as a theme throughout the entirety of the Digipak. The sponsors at the bottom of
the Digipak highlight Drake’s record label another enforcer of the wealth within Drake’s album.
