Siri Kit
SiriKit enables your iOS apps and watchOS apps to
work with Siri, so users can get things done using
just their voice. Your content and services can be
used in new scenarios, including access from the
lock screen and hands-free use.
Shortcuts App

Core ML 2
The app provides a gallery of examples to
start from and an easy to use drag and drop
editor. Users can make personalized
shortcuts that combine multiple steps,
including shortcuts provided by your app,
into a single tap or using their voice with Siri.

AR Kit 2
iOS is the biggest AR platform in the world,
and now you can create even more
incredible experiences with ARKit 2. Multiple
users can use their iOS device to
simultaneously view AR experiences or play
multiplayer games, as bystanders spectate.
AR experiences can be saved and resumed
at a later time in the same state. And you
can incorporate real-world objects into your
AR experiences, giving your users greater
immersive opportunities.

FaceTime
FaceTime with up to
32 people at once.
FaceTime now supports video and audio with
up to 32 people at once. The tile of the person
speaking will get larger automatically, so you’ll
never lose track of the conversation. You can
start Group FaceTime right from a group thread
in Messages or join an active one at any time.

Memoji
Create an Animoji
just for yourself.
A new type of customizable Animoji is coming
to iPhone X. Now you can easily create a
Memoji to match your personality and mood.
You can make as many alter egos as you want
to use in Messages and FaceTime.

Animoji
Say it with four new
Animoji.
Choose from four new Animoji — koala, tiger,
ghost, or T. rex — to inject some fun into your
next Messages thread or FaceTime call on
iPhone X. Go ahead and wink or even stick out
your tongue, because Animoji are also more
expressive than ever.

Camera Effects
Liven up the
conversation.
Now there’s a new way to add personality to
Messages and FaceTime right from the in-app
camera. Quickly create and share a photo or
video with Animoji, Memoji, cool filters,
animated text effects, fun stickers, and more.

Screen Time
Be more aware of how you
and your kids use your
devices.
Apps help us do so many extraordinary things that we
can sometimes lose track of how much we use them.
Screen Time is a new feature that helps give you a
better understanding of the time you and your kids
spend using apps, visiting websites, and on your
devices overall. So you can make the most of how you
choose to spend time on your iPhone or iPad.

Notifications
Easily take control of
your notifications.
Just as screen Time gives you more insight
into how you use your devices, notification
management in iOS 12 gives you new ways to
reduce interruptions throughout your day.

Activity Competitions
Building on the excitement around Activity Sharing,
watchOS 5 now enables users to invite another
Apple Watch wearer to compete in a seven-day
Activity competition, earning points for closing
Activity Rings, while receiving coaching notifications
to help stay engaged and win the week.

Auto-Workout Detection
For the most popular workouts on Apple Watch,
auto-workout detection provides an alert to start the
correct workout and gives retroactive credit. This
feature also offers a reminder to end workout
sessions after a period of inactivity if the user
forgets.

New Workouts
Yoga and Hiking join 12 other dedicated workout
types, accurately tracking active calories burned
and exercise minutes earned.

New Running Features
A brand new metric, rolling last mile, shows pace
for the immediately preceding mile.

Walkie-Talkie
New walkie-talkie feature offers quick voice
communication with any Apple Watch user around
the world.

Apple Podcasts
Users can now listen to their favorite podcasts on
the go with Apple Podcasts on Apple Watch and
stream any podcast in the catalog by using Siri.

Siri Updates
The Siri watch face now offers more predictive
and proactive shortcuts throughout the day.
The Siri watch face will offer information such as
sports scores for a favorite team or commute
time with Maps.
The Siri watch face shows actionable content from
favorite third-party apps such as Citymapper and
Nike+ Run Club.

Student ID Cards
Apple Watch can now be used in place of Student
ID cards.

Pride and Summer Bands
A new Apple Watch face and band celebrating Pride is available today. Three new Sport Band colors are available
today in Peach, Marine Green and Sky Blue.

4K HDR sets a new standard.
4K gives you a crisper picture using
four times more pixels than standard
HD. High Dynamic Range (HDR)
delivers brighter, more realistic colors
and greater detail. From the hottest
new movie to your favorite TV show,
everything is more lifelike than ever.

Dolby Atmos. It’s sound, turned up to 360.
Combine Apple TV 4K with a Dolby
Atmos–compatible sound system and
you’re fully immersed in three-
dimensional audio that sends sound
around and above you with pinpoint
precision. Whether a jet zooms
overhead or a torrential downpour
erupts, the true-to-life sound puts you
inside the action. And as the first
streaming player to be both Dolby Vision
and Dolby Atmos certified, Apple TV 4K
brings home the complete cinematic
experience.

Dark Mode
Dark Mode transforms the Mac desktop with a
dramatic darkened color scheme where content
pops and controls recede into the background.

Desktop and Finder
Stacks instantly organizes even the
messiest of desktops by automatically
organizing files into neat groups.

News, Stocks, Voice Memos and Home
News, Stocks, Voice Memos and Home
apps are available on Mac for the first
time.

Group FaceTime
Group FaceTime makes it possible to chat
with multiple people at once and
participant views are resized based on
how active they are.

All-New Mac App Store
The Mac App Store is completely redesigned and features
rich editorial content and new tabs for easier app
discovery.

Other New Features
● Screenshots deliver new on-screen controls for easy access to every screenshot option and new video
recording capabilities. A streamlined workflow enables easy screenshot sharing without cluttering the
desktop.
● Continuity Camera allows Mac users to take a picture or scan a document nearby with their iPhone or
iPad and have it appear instantly on their Mac.
● Markup tools are now integrated into Finder, Quick Look and Screenshots, making it fast and efficient
to add comments to content and share with others.

Xcode 10
Xcode 10 includes everything you need to
create amazing apps for all Apple platforms.
Now Xcode and Instruments look great in the
new Dark Mode on macOS Mojave.

Build Swiftly
Xcode 10 includes Swift 4.2, which compiles your software more quickly, helps you deliver
faster apps, and generates even smaller binaries. Compared to Swift 4.0, the latest Swift
compiler can build large apps more than twice as fast.* Combined with the new Xcode new
build system, your everyday edit, build, and test workflow is much faster. Optimized for the
latest multi-core Mac hardware, Xcode and Swift make for a lightning-fast development
platform.

Train Your Machine in a Playground
Swift was built to be fun to use, and it’s easy to experiment with an API when using a
playground file. In Xcode 10, playgrounds are dramatically enhanced to work more like a
traditional REPL, while making the live view even more responsive and fun to use for quick
designs. As you add new code, only new lines are recompiled. You can choose to re-run
specific lines of code, or hit shift-return to run the program right up to the line of code you just
typed.
The new incremental model is a perfect fit for working with the new Create ML framework. Train
your models directly within a playground, alongside the code that will use the model in your
app. Train, experiment, and refine your machine learning code in a super-fast workflow, using
the same Swift language you'll use in your app. When ready, just drag-and-drop your newly
trained model into your app.
