Let's begin your journey into men, dating, and relationships...
1. Why Do Guys Chase Me And Then Pull Away Or Disappear When Things Get Serious?
It's natural for a guy to chase you. After all, he's interested in you and you're the "prize" to him.
And it's exciting to him to chase you. It keeps him on his toes, it inflames his desire, and it
ignites his imagination.
When you're in a relationship, one of two things will happen: 1) The relationship will flourish
and grow as you get closer to each other, or 2) The relationship will fizzle out.
If you're asking him for a commitment - either an exclusive relationship or marriage - too soon
in the relationship he's probably going to run because a commitment at that stage is far too
early.
Asking for a commitment so soon frightens - even terrifies - him.
He's just getting to know you. He's trying to fit you into his life. He wants to see what you're
really like throughout the ups and downs of your life (and his life, too).
And he might feel he's losing his independence by making a commitment to you.
Keep in mind there are different types of guys: Some are relationship and marriage minded,
others are commitment phobic, and still others are confirmed bachelors who will never be in a
long term relationship or get married. It's up to you to determine what type of guy he is.
And it's up to you to allay his fears of losing his independence and showing him what a great
catch you are and how his life will be better with you in it.
You shouldn't expect an exclusive relationship until around twelve months in. By that time you
should be moving towards an exclusive commitment unless you both prefer a casual
arrangement where you date other people.

Don't expect him to commit to marriage after knowing you for a year. It's way too soon. Two or
three years out is a more normal timeline...although that can vary depending on the
circumstances and people involved.
Let the relationship progress and develop. Give things time to mature so you can see what he's
like and so he can see what you're like.
2. Should I Call Or Approach A Guy I'm Interested In?
This is another question that's quite common and has differing opinions among dating
coaches.
In general, though, you let the guy do the chasing because he sees you as having more value
that way.
But, having said that, there will be guys who don't like to chase simply because they've been
rejected by woman and have little confidence in approaching women.
In that situation, you have to take charge and encourage him to approach you or alternatively,
you'll have to approach him.
3. Why Is Dating So Hard, Especially For A Woman Who Is Over 35?
I know it seems hard when you're not having success and not getting dates with quality men.
After all, would you say it was hard if you had several quality guys chasing you and you were
going on lots of dates?
Probably not. Your hardest decision then would be how to juggle all of your dates, wouldn't it?
The best way to approach dating is to have fun. Enjoy the experience. Go out on adventures.
Enjoy coffees and dinners and drinks and dancing with guys.
Hone your dating skills as you meet guys even if you find they're not what you're looking for.
While the dating pool shrinks more as you get older there are still lots of quality guys out there
looking for an intelligent, sexy, attractive woman - just like you.
In short: Be proactive. Approach guys you're interested in if they don't make the first move.

4. What Are Some Clues That A Guy Isn't Looking For A Long Term Relationship?
Guys will usually tell you if they're not looking for a long term relationship - at least with you.
They might tell you they're very busy. They might say that they're not looking for a
relationship. They might mention that they're not looking for marriage.
Or they might say they don't want anything serious or they don't want to get involved.
Sometimes you can tell from their situation...
If they're newly divorced or separated or they've just gone through a break up then they are
probably not ready for a long term relationship.
It's up to you what you want to do...but chances are you'll want to move along and find a guy
who is serious and wants a long term relationship.
Don't think for a moment that you can change his mind - that's not going to happen. Keep in
mind that guys have similar thoughts, doubts, and fears about relationships that you do.
A guy might like you but not be attracted to you in a physical sense. He might want
companionship, not sex. He might want sex but not a long term relationship or commitment.

He might have doubts that there is long term compatibility with you. He might still be in love
with his ex and hasn't sorted out his feelings and moved on.
Or, it might be that as he gets to know you he doesn't feel you're the one he's looking for.
5. How Should I Dress For A Date?
It depends on the date.
If you're going hiking or rock climbing or sailing or horseback riding or biking you'll dress
accordingly.
If you're meeting a guy for drinks or dinner you might be dressed in your "work clothing."
Try and avoid an outfit that makes you look severe or masculine (the business suit look) - he's
looking for someone who is feminine.
If it's a date on a Saturday night you'll have more time to prepare - and that could mean
wearing stylish jeans and a top or a dress.
You want your feminine side to come out, though.
You don't want to dress over-the-top and look so smokin' hot that he immediately wants to
have sex with you. (After all, you don't know this guy yet. That comes later when things
progress and get more serious.)
Give him a hint of cleavage. Look pretty. Look feminine. Maintain an air of sexy and mystery

6. Should I Lie About My Age?
Some people think it's okay to lie about their age. They think they will be overlooked or not
considered by a promising love interest or partner if they tell their real age - especially on an
online dating site.
The problem is that eventually your real age comes out. And it starts things off on the wrong
foot. It also plants the seed that perhaps you weren't being truthful about other things if you
lied about your age.
My advice: Be honest up front.

7. What Are Some Clues I Should Look For That's He's Not "The One."
Other than the obvious signs like attraction, personality, character, and his present
circumstances (like separation or divorce) listen to things he says jokingly or in passing for clues
that he's not suitable for you.
If he talks about his rehab phase from drugs or alcohol, or his anger management therapy, or
his curiosity with bisexuality, or his arrest record, or his frequent gambling trips to Vegas, or his
time in the "big house" (and I'm not talking about a large home here), or how he has to take
drugs to still the demons or voices in his head (translation: he has psychotic episodes), or his
"stay" in a mental institute or half way house, or the ugly foreclosure or bankruptcy he went
through, or his crazy ex, then he's someone to stay clear of - you're just asking for grief and
hurt.
In some cases he may have a Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) which may be a deal breaker
for you, too.
8. Should I Date Guys Who Are Older Or Younger Than I Am?
Let's be realistic here - age has its advantages. But, did you notice I didn't say what age?

That's because a guy who is younger has advantages and a guy who is older has advantages.
It's up to you to decide whether the guy - no matter what his age - is right for you.
Younger guys are not necessarily well established financially. They may also be immature. But
they generally are interested in having a family which might be what you're looking for.
Older guys may be more financially secure but may have already raised their children and
usually aren't interested in having more kids.
Young guys and old guys can have sex issues - many of which can be effectively treated.
My advice: Consider the guy and the circumstances before you decide whether or not to date
him.
9. What Are Some Signs He Might Not Make A Good Boyfriend?
Let's begin first by looking at those things that make a GREAT boyfriend. Because chances are
you have expectations about how a good boyfriend should act and behave.
Things that make a GREAT boyfriend can include:
1. He's a man of his word. He has integrity. He's honest. He has character. He has values.
2. He shows up on time when he has a date with you.
3. He calls you when he says he will.
4. He cares about you and thinks about your needs when you need love and attention.
5. He phones, texts, and emails, when you're apart from each other.
6. He likes you the way you are and doesn't humiliate you by calling you names, saying you
look fat, or making you feel embarrassed about your weight.
7. He prefers to be with you and do things with you without intruding on your "alone time"
instead of hanging out with his buddies and watching sports all the time.
8. He listens to you and gives you advice when you ask for it.
9. He likes to go with you to hang out with your friends and family.
10. He encourages you to hang out with your friends when you need "girl time."
11. He knows how important your friends and family are to you.
12. He's loving, kind, attentive, and attractive to you.
13. He satisfies many of your needs.
14. He has sex with you when you're ready and when you're in an exclusive relationship.
If he's not doing many of those things or he doesn't have those qualities then chances are he's
selfish and into himself rather than into you. That could be a red flag that's he's not ideal

boyfriend material for you. He may even be trying to control you and isolate you from people
who are important to you and who support you. And that is definitely a major red flag and

10. This Guy I Met Wants To Date Me But He Doesn't Want A Relationship And He Doesn't
Want "Anything Serious." What Does That Mean?
Very simply, it means he wants to have sex with you without the commitment of being in a
relationship or being your boyfriend. He's telling you up front that he only wants sex with
you...without coming right out and saying that.
If you do date him and have sex with him, don't expect things to change so that you become
exclusive and in a relationship. By having sex with him, you've agreed to his "terms" and you're
not going to change him.
