3. 1. Neptun Fountain
• Neptune Fountain - the fountain is an initiative of the mayor
Bartłomiej Schachmann and the city council.
• It is located in the most representative part of the city - the
Long Market Square in front of the entrance to the Arthus
Court. The sculpture of a sea god Neptune was cast in
bronze in 1615 by Peter Husen and Johann Rogge. The
bowl and stem, on which stands the statue, is the work of a
sculptor Abraham van den Blocke.
The fountain was run in 1633. A year later, the iron grille
surrounding the swimming pool was added.
4. 2. Main Town Hall in Gdansk
• Main Town Hall in Gdansk - the historic town hall in the Main
Town in Gdaosk. It is a Gothic-Renaissance building, located at
the crossroads of Long Street and Long Market. It dominates
the panorama of the Royal Route, the most
representative street in this part of the city. The historical
Museum of Gdansk is located in this Town Hall.
5. 3. Arthur's Court
• Arthur's Court - the building located in the center of
Gdansk, Long Market 44, once a meeting place
for merchants, a center of social life, then the stock
exchange, now a branch of the Historical Museum of Gdansk.
6. 4. Long Street
• Long Street - Gdansk’s impressive
street, running through the center of the
City. The Long Market is its extention.
Together they are known as Royal Route.
7. 5. Golden house
• Golden house - a historic town house located
on the Royal Route in Old Town.
• Sometimes it is called Speyman’s Home.
8. 6. A Lady from the window
• A Lady from the window - the fictional figure
of the Gdaosk burgess, the element of the
folklore and the promotion of Gdaosk.
9. 7. Golden Gate
• Golden Gate was built in 1612 .
The building is the work of the architect Abraham van den
Blocke. The architecture is maintained in the style of Dutch
Mannerism and it is characterized by typical of the period
of refinement. Golden Gate is adjacent to the gate on the
north side late Gothic Manor Brotherhood of St. George.
In 1957 the building was rebuilt after the war.
10. 8. Green Gate
• Green Gate - perhaps the oldest of
the water gates of Gdansk, mentioned in the
1357th
Green Gate in Gdansk is the first example
of Dutch Mannerism, a style that gave the
city the characteristic mark
11. 9. Uphagen’s House
• Uphagen’s House - was in the 70s and 80s of
the eighteenth century the seat of
John Uphagen - Gdansk councilor. The house
has retained its original character. This is
due to Uphagen’s will. He forbade to change
his home decor.
12. 10. Crane
• Crane - The historic port lift of
Gdansk, perched between the pylons
over Motława Wide Gate. It is one of
the branches of the Central Maritime Museum
in Gdansk.
13. 11. St. Mary's Church
• St. Mary's Church - the historic parish church in Gdansk Main
Town, acting as the Catholic Church, then
Protestant (years 1572-1945). In 1986 it beame Co-
cathedral of the Diocese of Gdansk. In 1992 it became
the archdiocese. The church is dedicated to the Virgin Mary. It
is located on the square between the Chlebnicka
and Piwna Streets.
14. 12. Mary's Street
• Mary's Street - a street in Gdansk in the Main
Town, running through the historic St.
Mary's District.
Street starts at the Basilica of St. Mary and
runs towards the Motlawa Rivier
and closes at Mary's Gate. The street is closed
to traffic.
15. 13. Old Town Hall
• Old Town Hall - Town Hall in Gdansk's Old
Town, situated between the mill and
the church of St. Joseph.
16. 14. Church of St. Catherine
• Church of St. Catherine - the oldest parish church in the Old
Town in Gdansk. It was created in the years 1227-1239, the
founders were the princess of Gdaosk Pomerania. It
was developed in the fourteenth century in the years 1555-
1945 belonged to the Protestants.
• Its patron is Saint Catherine of Alexandria in Egypt.
17. 15. Westerplatte
• Westerplatte - a peninsula in Gdansk, at the mouth of the
Vistula River. In the years 1926-1939 in the peninsula Transit
Military Storehouse functioned, whose defense in
1939 became one of the most famous symbols of Polish
resistance against the Nazis.
