House Painting Guide & Tips - Selecting the Right Colors for your Room
1. SELECTING THE RIGHT COLORS
FOR YOUR ROOM

the best combination for your room
2. MONOCHROMATIC
Decide on a colour from the colour wheel and create a monochromatic
design by picking out the various tones, tints and shades of that one
hue. For example, the hue you’ve chosen is blue. You can choose sky
blue and navy to be part of that colour scheme as both colours are
based on blue. For something extra, add a neutral colour like white or
grey.
3. TRIADIC
A triadic harmony is composed of three colours that are equidistant
from each other in the colour wheel. Examples include red-yellow-blue
and violet-green-orange. A good way to use a triadic harmony is to use
one main colour and use the other two as accents.
4. ADJACENT/ANALOGOUS
Combine one or two tertiary colours with either a primary or a
secondary colour. On the colour wheel, these colours must be next to
each other, within a right angle. For example, if you choose blue, pick
blue-green and blue-violet. The effect of this color scheme should be
faint or eye-catching, depending on how you use the colors.
5. COMPLEMENTARY
This color scheme is all about contrast. It is composed of two colours
that are opposite each other on the color wheel - like yellow and
violet. This pair of colors will serve as the main colors. This results in an
energetic clash of color with the balance being tipped depending on
the intensity of the colors.
