Based on a series of consultations with orphanage officials in Bangladesh, DCI identified several areas of insufficiency requiring immediate attention. These include healthcare, counseling, tutoring, extracurricular activities, library access, and vocational training. DCI has been working to provide education and healthcare support to the Govt. of Bangladesh’s Azimpur & Tejgaon orphanages for some time. 5. Description of the Housing The home includes two side-by-side units. Each unit is 1800 sq ft and includes two bedrooms, one living and dining area, one kitchen, two full bathrooms, and two verandas. The home is located in Mohammapur housing about 300 ft from DCI’s central office for ease of monitoring. The area is also located in the center of Dhaka city so close to all available facilities. Child Selection Criteria Children with no parent or only one parent who are unable to support the child Only girls will be selected at present Age range 5-8yrs Children will be selected from the slum or referred by other organizations working in the field Financial Support Orphan sponsorship costs $50 per month ($600 yearly) per child. General donations are also encouraged, which are pooled and used to support all orphans equally.
