Why are integrations difficult?
1. Disparate systems may have technical or functional setup limitations that make it
difficult to share data.
2. Data formatting and reformatting requirements are complex.
3. Processing of data are different for each system.
4. Schedule updates between source and destination may be complicated.
5. Financial data calculations and balances may be difficult to update properly.
6. Maintenance and support costs can be high.
7. User interpretations on functional requirements for integrations may be incorrect.
8. Complicated processes can incur complicated integrations.

1. Data should be maintained in a “System of record”. This master system should be the
parent and to all children systems down stream, which receive the master data.
2. Data cleansing should be a weekly, monthly or annual process. To ensure integrity of
data and information.
3. Integrations should not disrupt Production business operations.
4. Production systems should not have performance degradation when large amounts
of data are processed from integrations.
5. A holistic full system view of all integrations should be considered in the overall
design. Downstream systems should be kept whole for all types of data or
