1. Overcoming polio burden was huge challenge
for India: Azad
President Pranab Mukherjee launching the nationwide polio round
by administering polio drops to an infant at Rashtrapati Bhavan in
New Delhi on Sunday. Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad is also

Polio: A challenge far from over
India may have won the battle against polio but the war is far from over. Having
achieved two full polio-free year, the key challenge now is to ensure any
residual or imported poliovirus in the country is rapidly detected and
eliminated.
Let us focus on the AFP surveillance system and delivery of quality RI services.

2. The challenge is also to ensure all children up to 5 years continue to take OPV at
every available opportunity (during polio campaigns and routine
immunisations)
It is now time to renew and reinforce our efforts in delivering quality Routine
immunization services
