The document discusses the various new and old media technologies used at different stages of producing a media trailer. During planning, the group relied heavily on internet research and tools like Google, Slideshare, and communication apps. In the research stage, they analyzed other trailers on YouTube and used Google, Word, and PowerPoint for tasks. Key construction technologies included Premiere Pro for editing, Photoshop for images, and Soundbible for audio. Evaluation work utilized iMovies, PowerPoint and YouTube. Equipment for filming included a camera, tripod and LED light.

Evaluation question 3.
1. How did you use new
media technologies in
the construction,
planning and evaluation
stages?
Evaluation by Dilara and Tana.
2. Both new and old media technologies were important in the production of our media product
(trailer). The new technologies were definitely very experimental and crucial in the production of our
project, as it allowed us to have fun with our project as well as work hard on it. These technologies
allowed us to create our final product successfully.
In this powerpoint presentation we will explain and evaluate how we came to make our final product
using new and old technologies, in the process of our evaluation, research, construction and
planning phases. We have used: Youtube, Google, premiere pro, Adobe Photoshop, Prezi, camera
recording, the Internet during the construction of our coursework/project.
3. Planning
During the planning of our product the internet was our key resource. This is because the internet offered us many
examples and resources on how we should plan our production. We used Google Chrome during our planning
process to find examples of: shot lists, storyboards, risk assessments and other tasks for the planning section of our
course work. We often used Slideshare to look at other peoples work to gain an understanding on what we should
include in our work, as Slideshare had a variety of examples which we used as a model for when we worked on our
tasks. We used Microsoft Word and Powerpoint for the planning tasks as these programmes offered us the best
templates to present our work in. Furthermore, we used applications such as Photoshop to produce our
moodboards, through this we reflected the theme of our trailer. Communication within my group was essential
during the planning of our trailer, as we needed to work together to plan out and complete tasks for our coursework.
We used Whatsapp as a way of communicating and agreeing on days to meet up to work together. This form of
communication helped us through the construction of our project as we were able to stay in touch and give each
other tasks to complete. Through the use of Gmail, we were able to send each other completed tasks to upload onto
our wordpress, also to send back to our teacher for feedback so that we can improve our work. Gmail also helped us
get through to our teacher to book college equipment. We also used Prezi to present our pitch, as we wanted to
personalise and have fun with our work. We also believed presenting our pitch on Prezi would engage with the
audience as it creates a path effect, taking the audience from one bubble to another. We also used Imovies to
present our working diary as a short movie, which we then uploaded onto Youtube to vary our presentations.
4. Research
During our research we used many applications including: Microsoft powerpoint, word, Google, Youtube and IMDb.
Youtube was an application we used often while researching into trailers, we used Youtube for our secondary research. We
picked trailers from Youtube with the same genre as our trailer, for example Annabelle, to analyse for our research tasks.
We picked out trailers during our research to pickout key aspects and familiarise ourselves with traits of a trailer and how
other professional films portray them within their trailers. We were influenced by the trailers we researched into and noted
down key elements that we would want to use in our own production e.g camera shots and transitions. We also used
Youtube to research into different editing and sound techniques. Furthermore, we also used Youtube to upload a task from
our coursework such as the animatic task to add onto our blog. Moreover, we used Microsoft Powerpoint and Word to type
out our trailer analysis. Powerpoint was especially useful for when we annotated posters of films as one of our research
tasks, as with the powerpoint layout it was pleasantly presented. We both used Google Chromes Powerpoint drive to
complete our tasks as with this application it was easy to upload a powerpoint onto Slideshare in no time. Google Chrome
played a massive role in the research process. We used Google Forums for our audience research, to conduct information
on what our audiences expected to see in a trailer. With this information we developed our ideas to serve our target
audience. Furthermore, we used Google Chrome for research on traits of a trailer, and other research tasks to gain a further
understanding. Moreover, we used websites such as IMDb to research into products like ours, we used this website to
research into producers that would distribute our movie, as well as researching which British companies distribute low
budget films.
5. Other technologies we used...
Throughout our research and planning, construction and evaluation process we used our Apple
products such as Iphones, Ipads and Macbooks. These technologies made everything accessible to
us, and helped us be flexible while producing work. Our Macbooks helped us store our work in, as
well as edit our footage, photoshop our poster proposals and type up our research tasks. We used
our phones to keep in touch throughout our producing process, keeping each other up to date with
all our coursework which improved our communication and teamwork.
7. Construction process was a long process and one that required a lot of hard work and concentration. We used a wide range of
applications to work on our product, such as Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Facetune, Soundbible, Wordpress, and Photoscape x.
Wordpress is a blogging site, we used this to upload our work onto which helped the construction process as we was receiving
feedback from our teacher, and using this we improved our work. Wordpress is also an important aspect of our construction and
presentation, this is because we need this website to neatly present our coursework for the examiner to access. Our most
important part of the construction was the editing, process which we used Premiere Pro for. Our editing was based of our
inspirations from other trailers which we researched into during our research tasks. We used Premiere pro on our Macbooks
which is a application of Adobe Creative cloud, to work on and construct our trailer. With Premiere Pro we edited our trailer, we
used tools such as: cropping, contrast, saturation, resizing and so on, while editing out trailer. This was the key programme for
editing our trailer, and without it we would not have achieved our final result. We used Soundbible for sound effects and
background music. We downloaded sound effects such as a music box, sound of birds chirping, this helped experiment and
achieve a good quality sound effects in our project. Furthermore, we used applications Photoscape x and Photoshop to edit our
poster. With these applications we changed the colour saturation of our images, we blurred out marks, and cropped images
making them suit the theme of our genre. With Facetune, we created a smile on our dolls to create an spine chilling effect on our
audience.
8. We used a wide range of media technologies for our evaluation tasks. We used applications such as
Imovies, Microsoft Powerpoint, video recording on Iphone and Youtube. While using these
applications we tried to be as creative as possible, taking images from Google, as well as our own
images that we have taken, we recorded videos to make our work original.
All of our work was uploaded onto Slideshare, to be shared on our Wordpress blog.
EVALUATION
9. The equipment we used to construct our media products were a Canon camera, a tripod and a led
light box. The camera was used to record footage for our trailer, as well as taking images for our
planning tasks such as the location task. The camera we used was convenient because it let us easily
record over footage we did not like, we did this by uploading the footage from our SD card onto our
Macbooks. Furthermore, we whiteblanced our shots using the camera settings to make sure all our
footage included good lighting and was not dark. The tipod was very important when recording as it
made sure our shots were stable and straight. This made sure our footage was of good quality and
was not shaky. The led light was used indoors when recording to make sure our shots were not dark,
and it gave our production a professional feel. The led light also enabled us to create highlights in
our shots such as in close up shots we created highlights on a characters face.
