constantly subjected to painful tests everyday all over the globe. There has been tons of research
that have come to a conclusion that animal research potentially does not benefit humans due to the
fact that humans have a different anatomy than some animals. As a result, many researchers overuse

Dog. Cat. Mouse. Hamster. Horse. You animal lovers out there know that the bond you make with
an animal is something unbreakable. Their loyalty and overall joy when they see you just lights
up your day. Think back to your childhood pet. Remember that feeling you would get when you
came home from a long day of school and your pet came running up to you radiating their love for
you. Immediately turning your frown upside down. Your pet is your friend not something you own.

medical schools, for testing, trained for films and being captivated in zoos. All this is causing a lot

Animal Rights
Animals have been alongside the human race since the beginning of time. They have been friends of
the people and the help for ages, it is only right that they get repaid with kindness not torture nor

According to Holmes (2011), "Just about everything we know about drug treatments for psychiatric
disorders we learned from mice, and yet no medication on the market today is perfect." Drugs that
prove to be helpful to animals are not quite helpful to humans. Martson and Pycroft (2011) also
stated, "Nine out of ten drugs that prove successful for animals fail in human trials." All these
experiments and school labs just cause pain or and death for animals with no positive outcome.
School Laboratories
There are universities and schools that use animals to help students understand and learn more of
the animal bodily functions. They do so to give the students more understanding and a more hands
on experience. These animals are severely harmed and sometimes killed in the process of being
utilized to teach. "When I was in medical school at The George Washington University our
instructor announced that the next week would include 'dog lab,' " said Dr. Barnard (2016).
"That meant that we were to experiment on and kill a perfectly healthy dog." They would kill the
dog like DR. Bernard says and work on it so they could learn and obtain a more hands on
experience. This was a required course for most schools at that time. The schools would penalize or
even expel the students that would refuse to take the animal use courses. He also stated (Dr. Bernard
2016) "At many medical schools, students who refused to participate were penalized or even

Children, and some adults enjoy going to an Animal Park, or zoo and seeing animals that they do not
encounter in day–to–day life. For many it can be a learning experience to witness animals from
other areas of the world. What many do not think of is the animal's well being living in captivity.
The documentary "Blackfish" gives an inside look at the animals of SeaWorld in Orlando, Florida,
in particular the Orca whales. The animal's well–being is not thought of in many instances, it is more
about the amusement of the guests who visit. Not to say that animal parks are bad, many are
conservation areas to help keep the population of animals where they should be. May animal
parks also have breeding programs where they release healthy, young animal species back into
the wild to raise endangered species populations. The topic of animal rights while they are in
captivity has always interested me. Since I was a young child I have had a love and interest for
animals, I took every opportunity I could to visit animal parks and anywhere where I could see
animals up close. When I first started to go see animals in captivity I was so amazed at what I
saw, the thought of "are the animals actually happy with life" never came to mind. I now know
how sad and horrible it is to take these animals from the wild and place them in a small enclosure
