THE HUMAN RIGHTS CASE AGAINST ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION

Much has been written and thousands of flowery and impassioned speeches have been given in every
corner and forum of the planet linking human rights to illegal immigrants and the masses of refugees
flooding Europe and other countries.
Every one placing a major focus on the illegal immigrants and the mass of refugees seeking to migrate to
the more developed nations and societies as having these rights and deriding leaders who want control
over these two issues.
However, this paper will focus on the citizens of the nations that are being overrun with illegal
immigrants and refugees, some as part of the political agenda of the various leaders of certain countries
and others simply targets for the flood of illegals and refugees without concern for the law.
No mentioned is made of how the citizens of these countries, who form the societies and cultures, work
to build a quality of life for themselves and their families, pay taxes to carry the government and all the
infrastructure and services modern societies require are having their human rights abused and stepped
on as a result of politicians seeking political gain and advantage that can be crafted to accompany this
issue and minorities finding a way to use the issues in order to impose their agenda and view of society
on the majority.
Their human rights are all but forgotten, in point of fact, I could not find one single paper or speech in
which the rights of citizens are defended above the supposed human rights of the illegal immigrants and
massive invasion of nations by refugees.
It is worth having a look back in history at what perhaps was one of the greatest and longest periods of
movement of people between nations.
In 1910-1911 immigration was at a point of such numbers in the US and in somewhat of an uncontrolled
state that laws restricting and controlling immigration began to be passed and lawful immigration
became a fact of life accompanied by a body of laws and regulations established to ensure an orderly
and controlled process for all newcomers and a means to control the US borders.
Most of the rest of the world also was passing laws and restrictions in order to control immigration
numbers and most countries had established quotas in various modes and in accordance with how they
dealt with populations and even keeping certain races and cultures at low to zero numbers in terms of
immigration in order to control and preserve what they had accomplished in terms of constructing their
new nations and established cultures.
In all of this, little thought was given to the human rights of the immigrants and all focus correctly was
on protecting and securing the country and the citizens of each of these countries and controlling who

was entering their countries and ensuring that the levels of immigration were reasonable and
manageable in terms of the economic costs and the effects on society in general.
Requirements for health, education and skill level were required. No governmental supports were
offered and there were no dual-language considerations made which had an effect of helping
integration of the new arrivals into the society, at least in terms of language.
America was perhaps the most welcoming as is noted on the Statue of Liberty, the worlds symbol of
immigration and although it was not quite as poignant at the time it was set in New York harbor, and it
is today the symbol of human rights for all people and America´s willingness to accept peoples of all
races and cultures.
Fast forward to today and 2017 and what we find is a completely untenable situation and one that
becomes more insane in terms of application of law, protection of citizens and defending and securing
the Nation.
I want to turn Lady Liberty´s head inward to America and American citizens and apply those same
human rights ideals to those that are citizens of the US and discuss how during the intervening years
since Ellis Island was closed, their human rights have been slowly but relentlessly diluted and today have
been almost forgotten and eliminated from the issue of immigration and the global cause of refugees.
In the US political parties began to see value and advantage to loosening immigration requirements and
also began to yield to the pressures from minority pressure groups to lower standards for immigration.
Additionally, slowly a new phenomenon outside the US began to gather speed and it was the
recognition in Central America and in particular Mexico that jobs could be obtained in the US easily and
with wages that were far above any that certain levels of these economies offered for work, if indeed
they could find work in those nations.
So, with the stringent requirements for legal immigration which many could not meet, the illegal exodus
began and gathered speed and has reached a level of what can only be called an invasion and virulent.
Small notice was made and indeed certain sectors in America found advantage in these illegal
immigrants due to the lower costs in wages and no benefit provision requirements as with American
employees.
It found its way into the political processes as these employers favored and supported politicians who
would find ways of supporting this influx of cheaper labor all the while not actually counting the costs to
the Nation and the taxpaying citizens.
This provoked an even greater influx of illegal immigration to a point today where many State leaders
actually establish what is now termed “sanctuary cities” nothing more than a new term to hide what it
really is, open and naked defiance of Federal laws.

This only adds greatly to the problem and the issue has now taken on a virtual invasion of illegals
crossing the borders of the Southern part of the US, especially into California and Texas and has set the
stage for open warfare between the Federal and State governments in the US.
And this is precisely the problem and the danger that is threatening the human rights of every hard
working, tax paying US citizen.
A citizen has the right to expect that his government, and in the case of the United States it is not just
the Federal government of which the citizen expects rights but the State government where they live as
well.
Those rights are clearly and firmly established in the Constitution and in every State constitution as well.
US citizens expect to have these rights fully protected in exchange primarily for the taxes they are
required to pay and as an inherent right for having been born in the Country to parents who are also
citizens of the United States.
They also earn those rights by the toll of blood Americans have paid since its founding for which a very
large percentage of American families have contributed in all of the wars the US has fought to ensure
that the rights of Americans are maintained and defended from outside attack.
Today, with illegal immigration and refugee acceptance virtually every right of every US citizen is being
infringed upon and in many cases totally erased.
In economic terms, taxpayers are being forced to receive less for their taxes than what they have a right
to expect from government. This is happening because large amounts of citizen tax payments now go to
support illegal immigrants and refugees.
In terms of the Federal budget, in 2016 more than $130 billion dollars was spent on welfare assistance
to illegal immigrants. If we add into that number the costs of border control, security, overall police
costs to the Federal budget and all that goes into the issue of illegal immigration in the US it comes to
more than $300 billion.
The average State budget costs due to illegal immigration runs at 10% of all State budgets and in some
States it is higher due to the higher number of illegals living there.
What that means is a US taxpayer gets reduced return for the taxes they pay since the money paid from
his taxes as a result of illegal immigration is lessened by the simple fact that this portion goes to
something that the US taxpayer derives no benefit from and is made worse by the loss of security illegals
represent.
Even these numbers are misleading since they do not include job losses or the impact of drugs and crime
that impact the society and its citizens.
Women being raped and murdered by illegals and refugees is a violation of their human rights yet not
much is said and less done about those violations of basic human rights

Children of US citizens are in more crowded classrooms as a result of the free education mandated and
paid for by Federal and State budgets for illegal immigrant children.
Healthcare costs are increased due to the legal requirement and government supports to provide free
healthcare to illegal immigrants and those costs are not absorbed by the hospitals rather they are forced
into the costs of US citizens who have to buy healthcare or pay from their own resources for care.
Many children of US taxpayers find spaces in colleges and universities reduced as a result of illegal
immigrant students having priorities for admission over them at many of these institutions.
And, perhaps the greatest violation that happens as a result of this issue---the value of a taxpaying US
citizen that is being reduced and diluted by the fact that illegals vote in US elections some illegally and as
we can see happening now in some cities, actually being permitted the right of voting legally in local
elections.
Everything I have just outlined above are (or were) the basic human rights bestowed upon US citizens
and only US citizens by the Constitution of the United States, which are supposed to be inalienable and
required of every government to protect and defend by that same Constitution.
The human rights of US citizens have to surface as the first duty of the Country and those who are
elected to office and by the very nature of illegal immigration they are not being upheld today and they
are being eroded and denied to citizens with every passing day and in every piece of legislation that
overlooks the basic fact of these rights belonging to US citizens only and that are being given to non-
citizens that are illegally in the Country.
There is only one greater case of human right usurpation of citizens in a Democracy other than the US
that I know of and that is taking place in the EU which is far worse right now, but for all intent and
purposes for whatever reason the citizens of most of those member States actually support it.
So, before we start to consider and lament the human rights of illegal immigrants I think it is time to first
consider the absurd and tremendous violation of the human rights of US citizens and once that has been
eliminated and their human rights restored we can start to think about what are and are not the human
rights of illegal immigrants and refugees.
For me, the very fact that the term illegal forms part of the debate makes it simple, they have none and
it is not the task of legal, taxpaying citizens born or legally naturalized in the US to be required to
provide them or restore them if they were taken away by their countries of origin.
That is where the pressures need to be applied, on the countries of origin that fail to provide for their
citizens basic human rights and it is long past time for the many politicians in the US and all the world
bodies and all the organizations that cry for the illegals and accuse others for the issue and arbitrarily try
and force responsibility on other nations to provide basic human rights that these originating nations fail
to provide for their citizens to recognize the fallacy of imposing those responsibilities on citizens of other
nations without first considering their basic human rights in the equation.

We can all empathize and sympathize with people, it is the good part of the human spirit and what does
help make us human but in the same manner that parents are expected to care for their children first
before any other act of charity is done, equally or perhaps more so does a nation have the duty and
obligation to provide first for its citizens and just as children have a right to expect that their parents will
honor that obligation so too does a citizen have the right to expect and even demand that their
government honors its obligation to them.
A nation, it has been said, is known by how it treats its citizens and it is time that the US begins to once
again think of and treat its own citizens first and above any other.
