2. Teenage Drugs
Addiction
• CAUSES/FOUNDATION OF TEENAGE
DRUGS ADDICTION AND EFFECTS IT
HAS ON THEM.
• HOW CAN IT BE PREVENTED AND OR
RESOLVED.
3. TOPIC #1
• The main factors of teenage drugs addiction usually result
from growing problems.
• Peer pressure.
• Social life.
• Experimenting and fitting it.
• Self-Esteem
4. SUMMARY
• Teenagers using drugs at an early age seem like a uncommon
concept in the eyes of many people especially parents. Based on
research, about 85% of adult smokers started smoking when they
were teenagers and then became chain smokers.
• It is widely known that Peer pressure plays a huge role in teen
drugs addiction or negative habits because teen socializing can
lead to meeting new people and learning and experimenting new
things.
5.
6. Summary
• Peer pressure might play a big role but “Fitting In” is probably the most
uncredited and less talked about factor in teen drugs addiction and adoption
on negative habits. Many kids go out of their way to do stuff especially using
drugs to prove to their friends that are capable of being dangerous.
• All of these are related and they slowly change teens as they grow. Peer
pressure, social life and fitting it. Teenagers hanging out with their friends is
basically a normal everyday life. If you’re with a certain kind of people
everyday and they do things that you resent doing, your are not fitted in and
you will somehow become an outcast because they feel as though you can’t
be around them because you can’t do what they are doing.
• As times goes by, your will eventually attempt to do what what you to do in
order to be with them and have fun. Having fun which means you must be
capable of doing what they do.
7. Personal Experience
• Social life is probably the best aspect of teenagers life and i believe that is a
starting point of meeting new people and trying new things including the
bad ones.
• Based on my personal experiences, i believe that the main factor of teenage
smoking and using drugs is wanting to be in control of something in their
life.
8.
9. personal Experience
• When kids smoke at an early age or adopt negative habits, they feel older, wiser
and in control because every day of their life people, most likely parents are
telling them what to do and what not to do. Making decisions for them and
telling them what they think will better the kid’s life.
• Teenage smoking is not specifically based on peer pressure, it also result from
what goes on in their homes with their parents. “PARENTS PRESSURE”
• An example of what i personally call “parents pressure” is. My parents know that
i am highly capable of making wrong decisions almost all the time because i always
do what I want to do not what people tells me to do an they’re alway worried
about where I am, the friends i choose to hangout with, what i do when i’m
around them and that makes me mad sometimes and makes me feel like they
want me to do what THEY think is best for me not what i think is best for me.
That sometimes leads me to doing things that makes me feel like I’m in control.
10. Topic #2
• Educating teenagers about dangers of
drug use.
• Being a small part of their social life.
• Boosting their self-esteem
11. Preventing Teen Drug
Use
• Teenage drug use is a major concern to all parents simply because as the
kids grow up and become more independent and mature, they come across
different things and people and sometimes they choose to experiment with
drugs and alcohol to get the feeling of what it is like.
• To prevent teenage drugs addiction, a parent should be smart enough to
educate their child about the dangers of using drugs and how it can
negatively affect their life instead of pressuring the child and doing things
that will lead them to making the wrong decisions.
12. preventing teen Drug
Use
• Being a small part of a child’s social life is another way of preventing teen drugs use.
Knowing the kind of friends they are affiliated with. Inviting their friends to your
home and getting to know somethings about them could also help because you will
have an idea of the kind of people that your kid is out with when your are not
around and you’ll feel save once you realize that his/her peers are not drugs related.
• Encouraging kids and boosting their self esteem is another strategy for preventing
teen drug use. Parents should make their kids feel good about themselves, make
them know that they are accountable for everything they do, believe in them and
appreciate them when they accomplish.
• Most kids with high positive self-esteem is less likely to do drugs or adopt to
negative habits because they will feel guilty for their actions and know that their
parents will be so disappointed in them and they will most likely realize that they’ve
failed and lost the trust of the people who believed and trusted them. It is most
likely that the kid will never try to do that again.
