Dr. A.N. Das presented on health, the mind, soul, and spirituality. He defined health as a balanced state of mind, body and soul. The mind is responsible for thoughts, emotions, and attitudes. The soul is the spiritual part that some believe continues after death. Spirituality relates to religious beliefs and connecting with something beyond material things. Maintaining health involves balancing the soul, mind and body through practices like yoga and meditation that help purify thoughts and connect with the supreme soul. This provides positive energy and protects from disease by boosting the immune system.
2. -Health-
Q:-What is Health?
A:-It is the balanced state of Mind-Body-Soul.
Q:-What is dis-ease?
A:-It’s the disorder or deviation of structure or
function from the normal state of a person provided
not caused by external injury directly.
3. As all of you know a little or more about body and its
structure and action(anatomy and physiology), we will
later discuss it more deeper.
First let us discuss what is Mind and what is Soul.
4. MIND
The mind is the set of cognitive faculties including
consciousness, imagination, perception, thinking,
judgment , language and memory, which is housed in
the brain (sometimes including the central nervous
system). It is usually defined as the faculty of an
entity's thoughts and consciousness.
5. It holds the power of imagination, recognition, and
appreciation, and is responsible for processing feelings
and emotions, resulting in attitudes and actions.
The ectoplasmic stuff(mind) controls the vital energy
and the vital energy controls the function of physical
structures . So any alternation to its normal state
disturbs the health.
6. What the now medical faculties declare that
The root of most physical ailments is deficiencies in
the form of vices such as lust , anger, gluttony and
laziness . Medical scientists acknowledge that more
than 80% of all diseases are psychosomatic , that is,
they are caused or aggravated by a mental condition.
7. When vices exert great influence , the person’s actions
and lifestyle will tend to lead to diseases . Yoga, when
practiced in its entirety, strengthens the very
foundations of health by making the soul the master
of body and ruler of the senses.
Yoga , in its spiritual meaning is the process of
connection between the soul with the Supreme soul.
8. -Spiritual-
What is Spiritual?
Spiritual comes from the word Spirit or Soul.
Spiritual means that is some thing beyond the
materialistic explanation.
relating to or affecting the human spirit or soul as
opposed to material or physical things.
relating to religion or religious belief.
9. -Soul-
Now question arises what is SOUL?
Soul or psyche(ancient greek word-to breath)
comprises the mental abilities of a living being:
reason, character, feeling, consciousness, memory,
perception, thinking, etc. Depending on the
philosophical system, a soul can either be mortal or
immortal.
In Bhagbat Gita its told that it is immortal.
10. Cont-
In Cambridge dictionary , the spiritual part of a person
that some people believe continues to exist in
some form after their body has died, or the part of
a person that is not
physical and experiences deep feelings and emotion
s.
11. -In brahmakumaries view-
Spirituality means to understand the self as a spiritual
being and acknowledge self values and one’s self
respect.
Spirituality makes us aware of the presence of the
creator in our life.
In meditation ,I(the soul)focus on the Devine using a
direct connection free of intermediaries.
In this way ,one can draw spiritual strength and power
from the Devine.
12. So now the question arises where is the place of Soul in
human being?
Answer:-The soul or atman, credited with the ability to
enliven the body, was located by ancient anatomists
and philosophers in the lungs or heart, in the pineal
gland (Descartes), and generally in the brain.
So its assumed differently by different philosophers.
13. So the next questions are coming to mind what’s the
role of Soul for being in healthy state and how we can
create our soul into a pure one and in a balancing state
?
The answer is obviously by purifying our thoughts and
re connect it to supreme soul to get its energy through
Yoga and Meditation.
Then only it will get positive vibrations and make our
mind and body to attain a healthy state.
14. Soul------------- Mind +Intellect + Resolves
The mind and the intellect are faculties of soul, and
with the resolves(sanskars) it carry forward with it
makes a soul its identity.
The information we consume and the thoughts we
create are food for mind . So for an enlightened mind
positive thoughts along with Yoga and Meditation are
necessary.
15. The Gita says , The senses are superior to the body ,
superior to the senses is the mind, superior to the
mind is the intellect, and superior even to the intellect
is the self.(soul).”
If the Self, the soul, is weak ,physical exercise may keep
the body fit , but one might not experience peace of
mind or happy relationships , and diseases will slowly
take root inside the body.
16. Yoga, including exercise , meditation and a yogic
lifestyle ,brings balance and harmony between soul ,
mind and body.
This is characterized by moderation in one’s life.
So again Gita here says , Yoga is the destroyer of pain
for him who is moderate in eating , recreation , in
exertion in actions along with moderate in sleep and
wakefulness.
17. So if we can become soul conscious then automatically
our 7 chakras and the aura around our physical body
will start spreading positive vibrations.
We would get rid of negative energies or emotions
,thus making ourselves protect from all the dis-eases.
Even if we are sick , then also we will recover soon by
boosting our powerful immune system.
18. So now question arises how can we maintain a healthy
state ?
Its only possible if we give proper practical Spiritual
Knowledge through education.
If we able to add spirituality in modern system of
education then it will become value added education.
A nice and healthy future generation will come with
considerable reduction in unemployment.
19. -Benefits of Yoga-
There will be no frustration with zero addiction if we
learn proper education.
There will be peace, prosperity and harmony in the
society if we grow our children though this module of
learning.
This will be very beneficial to both teachers and
students as well as parents if we attend these type of
short courses.
20. Human Body -
Man as we all know is a part of universe and is made up
of five essential elements ,that is called ‘‘Panchatatwa”,
which is accepted by Hindus, Chinese , Buddhist ,
Judaists and Mohammodians alike.
These five elements are : Earth , Water ,Fire , Air and
Eather .
21. Panchatatwa-
These five elements are representatives of physical
generals of human body.
Ether-the effect of celestial body i.e, like moon,
thunderstorm, lightening etc.
Air-the activity
Fire-the heat regulatory mechanism of the body.
Water-the water control of the body.
Earth-represents the organs i.e, particulars.
22. What Homoeopathy says-
In Homoeopathy ,it’s founder Dr. Hahnemann called
it is the Spiritual Vital force or Life force which is sole
responsible for the function of material
body(Organism) and its function.
Disease is the altered state of life characterized by a
sensation of uneasiness and discomfort due to the
dynamic derangements of vital force.
23. Vital force---
So causes of diseases(derangements of vital forces) are
mainly of two types.
1)External like Injury ,burn or poisoning or
pollution(air , water etc.) and 2)Internal(cosmic
forces).
Cosmic forces are of 3 types , namely Sentient force,
Mutative force and Static force .
24. Cosmic force-
Sentient- Satwa ;Mutative-Raja ;Static-Tama
Every person in this earth has these three types of
cosmic forces in different proportions.
The permutation and combination of these three
forces makes the temperaments of every person and its
proneness to diseases.
25. So in Homoeopathy it’s the skilled and learned
physician who can easily brings a person to its normal
state by keenly observing all the 3 aspects, that are 1st)
Physical and general make up;2nd)Mental make up
;3rd)Diseases make up.
Homoeopathy is having great scope of treating all the
psychosomatic disorders as it gives important to
MIND.
29. So by meditation and Yoga its possible to stimulate the
chakras hence to regulate the functions of endocrine
glands which are responsible for normal healthy
functions.
Chanting OOM while connecting ourselves with
supreme soul recharges all the chakras.
In next season we will see further details……
