These are the rating labels, for video games.
Rating can be found in the front with the
letter, on the back is the letter and what
inappropriate content a gamer might see.
Goals
At the end of the lesson student will fully understand
the rating system of video games and what games are
appropriate for them to be playing
Students will also have the basic understanding of
how to locate the rating label on the game.
They will understand what each letter means and
 represents.
Rating System
There are six letters that are used in rating video
 games
The letters are C, E, E10, T, M, A
You don’t really see C to much on games anymore. It
 stands for early childhood
Since there are so many Leapsters games out their for
young children(pre-k to k), many are not playing
 console video games
Rated E, E 10
E stands for everyone. If you flip the game over it will
tell you why it’s rated E.
E games contain minimal cartoon, fantasy or mild
violence and/or infrequent use of mild language.
E 10 is for ages ten and up. In these game, you will see
cartoons, fantasy, mild violence, mild language,
 and/or minimal suggestive themes.
Rated T
T stands for teen. These are games that are
appropriate for ages thirteen and up.
Don’t worry if your teen tries to buy a game. Most
stores won’t sell it without parents consent.
In teen games you will see violence, suggestive
themes, crude humor, minimal blood, simulated
gambling, and/or infrequent use of strong language.
Video game
Rated M
M stands for Mature. These games are appropriate for
 gamers seventeen an up.
You have to show ID when buying games that have
 this rating.
In games that are rated mature you might see intense
violence, blood and gore, sexual content, and/or
 strong language.

Rated A
A stand for Adult eighteen and up.
You have to show an ID to get this game. So your son
or daughter cannot buy the game if they are not an
 adult.
Adult games will feature prolonged scenes of intense
violence and/or graphic sexual content and nudity.
Activity
Now that you have a little bit of a background of the
 rating system of games
I am going to split you up into group of three. Write
down a few games that you can think of that are not
age appropriate for you. Why they are not age
appropriate? What clues on the game may help you
determine if the game is appropriate for you?
Come up with at least three games.
Online Rating
With all the new system out their the new hot thing
 is playing online.
This is where gamers can play other gamer world
wide. All you need is wifi in your house and you can
 connect.
This however is not rated because player can
 communicate to one another.
How To make online semi safe
Since player can communicate you can not stop them
cursing and saying some of the inappropriate material
 a young child should hear.
You can do what is called muting. This is where you
mute all the other players that are playing online.
This allows you to use the online features and still be
 safe.

Just remember that the online material will not be

 this.
