          Let's Race Around the World (RATW)

•   self-directed research project
•   uses reading, writing and math authentically
•   a geographic/cultural understanding
•   curricular content can be teacher or student driven

             It’s a competitive game!

•   Math
•   World geography
•   Cultural understanding
•   Writing focus can be ANY content
    (science, culture, math, literature, etc.)
What it looks like
Upper Elementary/Middle School   High School

TEACHER INFO
• Make decisions and don’t change them
• Make sure YOU understand the math
• Ensure the students understand the math and
  strategies (or provide learning aids)
• Raise the quality of writing expectation EVERY
  time
• Ensure that students work is available to you
  electronically (for monitoring)
What does this look like in a
         G/T environment?
  Upper Elementary/      High School
  Middle School
• global awareness       • The world and her inhabitants are
                           an amazing thing—and not to be
• extract specifically     missed!
