Def - : a variant of an original song made by rearranging or adding to the original

Concept: Seeing old music in a new light through an unexpected multi-media
experience.

Key elements:
• Relaxed, “un-concert” vibe
• Food (quiet) and drink available for purchase
• Non-traditional set-up
• Feast for all of the senses - use of lights, projections, visual accompaniment
!
Set-up
• Concert in the round - stage(s) in the middle of the hall (might not be a raised stage...)
• Seating/standing room around the stages (views from all angles; allows audience to
migrate
• Large screens for projections if available
• Use of light/darkness to create contrast
• Disco balls? Or something that creates visual interest
!
Performances
!
Light cues move from performer to performer, allowing people time to move from one
station to the next.
!
Program order allows for time to change ensembles/wardrobe etc.
!
Repertoire can accommodate any choices of the participants of the class, but each
performer/group must decide on/provide the following:
• Light colours for light cues
• Unconventional set-up that reflects the “surround” effect
• The 21st century emotion/message they want to convey with the music; and
• a set of projections (images and/or videos) that accompany their work
