2. Online CPC
• I was recruited by Saidi Putera PTM in January 2020 to
stream the CPC online on Facebook. Initially CPC FB was
open to public but later we created a private group on FB
due to Psychiatry CPC on sexuality and frigidity.
• 15th April 2020, we started using Zoom for CPC weekly
sessions. We were able to stream to Facebook Private
Group using HDMI encoder bought from AliExpress for
RM240. Later we streamed to FB directly from Zoom
itself.
• YouTube channel for CPC was created to cater for public
sessions.
• Paper was submitted for supporting hybrid sessions for
Grand CPC. Equipment was bought and Unit Penyiaran
Digital (UPD) was created in October 2020.
3. Zoom Webinar
• Limited to only 500 participants.
• Only presenters seen on the screen &
able to speak.
4. CPC Public FB Page
• Should no longer be in use with the
creation of Medic UKM FB Page.
• Previously was used for Seminar Rakyat
and other seminars meant for public
consumption.
5. CPC Private FB Group
• 1500 vetted members
• Used for CPC sessions meant only for staff
and students of Medic UKM.
6. YouTube Channel
• 478 subscribers
• Used for public CPC sessions.
• Helps GPs to get CPD points.
7. CPC Repository
• Ongoing project
• Previous CPC sessions curated and
catalogued according to departments
• Will only allow access to verified faculty
members.
8. Future Role of CPD for
CPC
• Hybrid Sessions for future Grand CPC
sessions. Both F2F for limited audience in
auditorium and online.
• Equipment already bought. We need
prepare auditorium for such hybrid
events.
• Similar like Syarahan Perdana in March
2021, we integrate presenter into the
presentation via the use of green screen.
9. Broadcast Quality
• Defined as a video stream, this level of quality states that
the video stream is suitable for being included in normal TV
broadcasting.
• But we are not broadcasting our lectures on TV. Instead we
are streaming on online platform such as Microsoft Teams,
Zoom Meeting, Google Meet, Cisco Webex and Lifesize.
• The term “broadcast quality” in this talk refers to crystal
clear audio with no humming or feedback/echo, excellent
video quality with no lagging even when streaming video
on the platform, and ability to use add-on graphics and
animation on the fly while teaching.
10. Broadcast Quality Online CPC
1.Minimum equipment – a recent notebook with built-in camera &
microphone. If many devices in the same room, use headset and mute mic
of non-presenters. Extras – video/still camera with encoder, tripod &
lighting.
2. The online platform for us in CPC Medic UKM is Zoom Webinar.
3.Adequately stable internet connection is vital for any live stream. Check
your line with https://speedtest.net
• Always go for fixed line/LAN connection. But in UKM that line goes to
your ancient desktop running WinXP with no mic/camera.
• But you can share that fixed line - https://tinyurl.com/sharelineUKM
12. Stable Internet Connection
1. If for at home, apply for best line that you can afford. Mine is Unifi 800 Megabit/s
at rm270/month. Maxis and Time is usually faster and cheaper.
2.That speed is only available to you with the correct gigabyte router and cables (Cat
5e or better).
3.Wi-Fi – go for dual band router, 2.4GHz (50 Megabit/s) and 5 Ghz (600
Megabits/s).
4.Sharing the internet line from your phone? You would be lucky to get 2 Megabits/s.
Same speed like wi-fi HUKM?
5.Minimum internet speed for Zoom is 600 kilobit/s but 1.5 Megabit/s is preferred
for group calls. 1080p need 3.0 Megabit/s.
6.Ping should be less than 150 ms. For LAN, it is usually between 5 and 20ms, for
wi-fi close to 30ms and for handphone is much worse and can reach >100ms.
13. No budget solution?
1. Get PTM to supply another internet port to your room and allocate an IP
address for your notebook.
2. If PTM don’t want to spent RM380 to install another internet port into your
room, you can always share that fixed line -

3. Cheapest router on Shopee & Lazada is Xiaomi Mi 4C (RM40) and
Mercusys (RM35).
15. How to integrate yourself into
your presentation slides?
• You just need a Green Screen and it’s stand
• Green Screen on Lazada RM20.77.

• Green Screen stand on Lazada RM40.66

17. Conclusion
Some how I think our current Dean is prescient. He somehow
foresaw the lockdown and brought me into the picture in January
2020. Lockdown happened on 18th March 2020.
The faculty is very supportive and has created UPD based on the
Grand CPC working paper. All the equipment that we asked for
were approved. We have proven our capability many times.
Unlike the Dean, I am not prescient nor am I omniscient. But I will
continue to plan and develop new strategies to assist all faculty
members.
