  1. 1. IOTInHomeAutomation
  2. 2. Agenda • Explain what is IOT and Automation • How to make home automation system with the help of IOT • Which system and equipment we required • What are the advantages and disadvantages • How to deploy and use in our daily life
  3. 3. INTRODUCTION Homes of the 21st century will become more and more self-controlled and automated due to the comfort it provides, especially when employed in a private home. A home automation system is a means that allow users to control electric appliances of varying kind. Many existing, well-established home automation systems are based on wired communication. This does not pose a problem until the system is planned well in advance and installed during the physical construction of the building. But for already existing buildings the implementation cost goes very high in contrast, Wireless systems can be of great help for automation systems With the advancement of wireless technologies such as Wi-Fi, cloud networks in the recent past, wireless systems are used every day and everywhere. Wireless Home Automation system (WHAS) using loT is a system that uses computers or mobile devices to control basic home functions and features automatically through internet from anywhere around the world, an automated home is sometimes called a smart home, it is meant to save the electric power and human energy. The home automation system differs from other system by allowing the user to operate the system from anywhere around the world through internet connection
  4. 4. WHATISIOT? • The Internet of Things is simply "A network of Internet connected objects able to collect and exchange data." It is commonly abbreviated as lOT. • The word "Internet of Things" has two main parts; Internet being the backbone of connectivity, and Things meaning objects/devices. • In a simple way to put it, You have "things that sense and collect data and send it to the internet. This data can be accessible by other "things" too. • Let me give you a practical example. Lets imagine you have a "Smart air conditioning unit in your home that is connected to the internet. (This is a "thing" connected to the internet) Now imagine it's a hot summer day and you have left for home from your work you would like your home to be cool enough by the time you enter it: So. When you leave from your office, you can remotely switch ON the air conditioning unit of your home using your mobile (another Thing connected to the Internet) Technically with internet, you can control your AC system from any part of the world as long as both the AC and your mobile are connected using the internet.
  5. 5. AUTOMATION Automation is, unsurprisingly, one of the two main characteristics of home automation. Automation refers to the ability to program and schedule events for the devices on the network. The programming may include time-related commands, such as having your lights turn on or off at specific times each day. It can also include non-scheduled events, such as turning on all the lights in your home when your security system alarm is triggered. Once you start to understand the possibilities of home automation scheduling you can come up with any number of useful and creative solutions to make your life better is that west-facing window letting in too much light? Plug your motorized blinds into a "smart" outlet and program it to close at noon each day Do you have someone come by at the Same time each day to walk the dog? Program your home automation system to unlock the front door for them and lock it up again when they're done
  6. 6. IOTUsed HomeAutomation IoT home automation is the process of controlling home appliances automatically using various control system techniques. The electrical and electronic appliances in the home such as windows, refrigerators, fans, lights, fire alarms, kitchen timers, control lighting, climate, entertainment systems, and appliances. It may also include home security such as access control and alarm systems. When connected with the Internet, home devices are an important constituent of the Internet of Things. • Home automation involves introducing a degree of computerized or automatic control to certain electrical and electronics system in a building. • These lighting temperature control ,etc this project demonstrates a simple home automation system which contains a remote mobile host controller and several client module (home appliances). • The client module communicate with host controllers through a wireless device such as a Bluetooth enabled mobile phone in this case, an android based smartphone. • As the technology is changing rapidly, today’s state of the art appliances may not be impressive tomorrow. It may also happen that you want to have new appliances. Home automation plays a pivotal role with respect to flexibility and scalability in replacing older appliances.
  7. 7. Node MCU (ESP8266) Or Arduinos( UNO, DUE) Power Supply 12 V, 1 Amp 4 channel 5V Active Low Relay Board Some Other modules and sensors to make different projects SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS SPECIFICATION Operating System For Configuration: Windows or Linux. Some Cloud Service Providers: AWS IOT, Azure IOT, BM Bluemix and Etc. And Some Application To Operate Hardware requirement Software Requirement • . • .
  8. 8. Advantage Disadvantage • Easier to Lock and Unlock the Doors • Save Energy with Smart Energy Consumption • Know About Maintenance and Service • Customize as Per Your Convenience • Ease of Using smart home technology • Smart home technologies are really Smart • Cost of manufacturing • Dependency on Internet • Dependency on Professionals • Smart Home can be Hacked AdvantagesAndDisadvantages
  9. 9. Smart Lighting – • Smart lighting for home helps in saving energy by adapting the life to the ambient condition and switching on/off or dimming the light when needed. • Smart lighting solutions for homes achieve energy saving by sensing the human movements and their environments and controlling the lights accordingly.
  10. 10. • Smart Appliances – • Smart appliances with the management are here and also provide status information to the users remotely. • Smart washer/dryer can be controlled remotely and notify when the washing and drying are complete. • Smart refrigerators can keep track of the item store and send updates to the users when an item is low on stock.
