2. 1 John 4 1
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try
the spirits whether they are of God: because many
false prophets are gone out into the world. 2
Hereby
know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that
confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is
of God: 3
And every spirit that confesseth not that
Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and
this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have
heard that it should come; and even now already is
it in the world.

To accept Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord isis
to be in right relationship with God.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only
begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall
not perish but have everlasting life.
John 3:16

This is the sin that sends people to hell.

he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it

them (false teachers; evil men): because greater is He
that is in you, than he that is in the world.

"He that is in the world" is the devil.
"He that is in us" is Jesus, in the
Person of God's Holy Spirit.

The God of the Bible created all that exists:
Love, Beauty, Music, People, Angels
John 1 1-4
In the beginning was the Word, and the
Word was with God, and the Word was God. The
same was in the beginning with God. All things
were made by Him; and without Him was not any
thing made that was made. In Him was life; and
the life was the light of men.

They are of the world: therefore speak they of the
world, and the world heareth them. 6
We are of
God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not
of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the Spirit
of Truth, and the spirit of error.

False teachers are of the worldof the world; they speak
the world's languageworld's language of self and greed.
The world hears that messagehears that message because it
appeals to the carnal nature of man.

9. "We are of God"

John is speaking of himself and the apostles,
But it is truetrue of everyone who loves and
speaks the Word of GodWord of God.
Everyone whose heart is toward God will hearhear
that message and receivereceive it with joy.

We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us;
he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know
we the Spirit of Truth, and the spirit of error.

Most of the world is stubbornlystubbornly and defiantlydefiantly
wrongwrong about God, His Word, and His church.
They will notwill not believe that God loves them.
They will not believewill not believe that God is Light and in
Him is no darkness at all.

11. They call evil good and good evil.
Isaiah 5:20

By this we can differentiatedifferentiate between spirits:
The Spirit of TruthSpirit of Truth and the spirit of error.
Going back to the first thoughtfirst thought in verse one:
We try or testtest spirits by the Word of God.
We hearhear the voices of spirits in our soul.

12. We test them by the things they saythey say.

If a spirit agrees with all If a spirit speaks
contrarycontrary to any

then it is notnot of God.
To try or test spirits, we
must knowknow and understandunderstand
God's Word, the BibleGod's Word, the Bible.
