2. 1 Samuel 10 1 Then Samuel
took a vial of oil, and poured
it upon (Saul's) head, and
kissed him, and said, Is it not
because the Lord hath
anointed thee to be captain
over His inheritance?
God has set apart Saul to be king of Israel.
Why? We know that wasn't God's perfect Will.
The people demanded a king.
2
3. This was not God's Plan.
In fact God told Samuel to warn them against it.
But they demanded a king to be like other nations.
We will never have God's Best by demanding
our own way in anything.
We will never have God's Best when we try to
be like the world.

4. (Samuel is still speaking to
Saul:) 2 When thou art de-
parted from me today, then thou
shalt find two men by Rachel's
sepulchre in the border of
Benjamin at Zelzah; and they
will say unto thee, The asses
which thou wentest to seek are
found: and, lo, thy father hath
left the care of the asses, and
sorroweth for you, saying,
What shall I do for my son?
4
5. 3 Then shalt thou go on forward
from thence, and thou shalt
come to the plain of Tabor, and
there shall meet thee three men
going up to God to Bethel, one
carrying three kids, and
another carrying three loaves
of bread, and another carrying
a bottle of wine:
5
6. 4 And they will salute thee, and give thee two
loaves of bread; which thou shalt receive of their
hands.
To be blessed as God Wills, we must receive
(accept) His provision.
Salvation Healing Finances
Pride will block us from God's Best.
Samuel told Saul to receive the bread from the men.
6
7. 5 After that thou shalt come to the
hill of God, where is the garrison of
the Philistines: and it shall come to
pass, when thou art come thither to
the city, that thou shalt meet a
company of prophets coming down
from the high place with a psaltery,
and a tabret (tambourine), and a
pipe, and a harp, before them; and
they shall prophesy:
7
8. 6 And the Spirit of the Lord will come upon thee,
and thou shalt prophesy with them, and shalt be
turned into another man. 7 And let it be, when these
signs are come unto thee, that thou do as occasion
serve thee; for God is with thee.
God would turn a country boy into a king.
8
9. Very often God calls a man or a woman to a certain
job or ministry, and he or she is afraid.
"I'm not qualified to do that."
"I don't have the training to do that."
"I don't think I would enjoy doing that."
9
10. [Samuel to Saul] 8 And thou
shalt go down before me to
Gilgal; and, behold, I will
come down unto thee, to
offer burnt offerings, and to
sacrifice sacrifices of peace
offerings: seven days shalt
thou tarry, till I come to
thee, and shew thee what
thou shalt do.
10
11. 9 And it was so, that when he had turned his back to
go from Samuel, God gave him another heart
(feelings, will, intellect) and all those signs came to
pass that day.
All that God says will come to pass.
11
12. "God gave Saul another heart."
Not only a new mindset from country boy to king,
But also the anointing of the Holy Ghost that he
would have the ability to follow God,
and people would follow him.
Old Testament times were different from the
church age.
12
13. 2 Corinthians 6 16 And what agreement hath the
temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of
the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in
them, and walk in them; and I will be their God,
and they shall be My people.
During Old Testament times the Holy Ghost
came upon men for specific missions.
Today He dwells in the hearts of His children.
13
14. 10 And when they came thither to the hill, behold, a
company of prophets met him; and the Spirit of
God came upon him, and he prophesied among
them. 11 And it came to pass, when all that knew
him beforetime saw that, behold, he prophesied
among the prophets, then the people said one to
another, What is this that is come unto the son of
Kish? Is Saul also among the prophets?
14
15. The change in Saul was so obvious that the
people all saw the difference.
He would never have been among the
prophets before this time.
He didn't hang with that kind of men.
The Spirit of God changes things.
"From a Tavern to a Temple"
Where the Holy Spirit dwells.
15
16. 12 Andone of the same place answered and said,
But who is their father? Therefore it became a
proverb, Is Saul also among the prophets?
(TLB) 11-12 When his friends heard about it, they
exclaimed, "What? Saul a prophet?" And one of the
neighbors added, "With a father like his?" So that is
the origin of the proverb, "Is Saul a prophet too?"
16
17. God can take the most worldly-minded man, and
give him a new mindset and a heart toward God.
Toward God
Pleasure seeking
All he must do is submit to the Holy Spirit.
