Serious games have been used in healthcare for decades, originally focusing on reducing costs and risks for staff and patients through training. More recently, games have also aimed to influence patient behavior. The presentation discusses how serious games are currently used for various aspects of healthcare, including exergames and autism therapy games. It predicts that brainwave and sensor technologies will revolutionize healthcare games and that serious games will be an important part of blended healthcare solutions going forward.
