  1. 1. 0………. 4 --article continued from page 1— Are we confident that our light is bright Vol. 46 December 21, 2021 Number 49 SEVEN GIFTS THAT DO NOT COST A CENT Via Findlay church of Christ 1. The Gift of Listening. But you must really listen. No interrupting, no daydreaming, no planning your response. Just listening. 2. The Gift of Affection. Be generous with appropriate hugs, kisses, pats on the back, and handholds. Let these small actions demonstrate the love you have for family and friends. 3. The Gift of Laughter. Clip cartoons. Share articles and funny stories. Your gift will say, “I love to laugh with you.” 4. The Gift of Written Notes. It can be a simple “Thanks for the help” note or a full sonnet. A brief, handwritten note may be remembered for a lifetime, and may even change a life. 5. The Gift of a Compliment. A simple and sincere, “you look great in red,” “you did a super job” or “that was a wonderful meal” can make someone’s day. 6. The Gift of Favor. Every day, go out of your way to do something kind. 7. The Gift of a Cheerful Disposition. The easiest way to feel good is to extend a kind word to someone. Really, it’s not that hard to say, “Hello” or “Thank you.” “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again” (Luke 6:38). 2. 2. --article continued from page 1— “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;” (2 Peter 3:10-15). Author well known! ~~~~~~~~~ Sympathy Our sympathy is extended to Dennis Hallmark & Diane Dickerson in the loss of their father, Carester Hallmark, late Monday, Dec. 13. Funeral arrangements were incomplete at this writing. Also, our condolences to the family of Rhonda Kelly who passed unexpectedly in her sleep Monday, Dec. 13. Arrangements were also incomplete at this writing. Please keep these families in your prayers. Christmas Card Envelopes & Bulletin Board The Christmas card envelopes are on the bulletin board across from the library. There are some of our number who are shut-in or remain home due to Covid concerns, and do not have an envelope on the board. We ask that you mail those, please, or leave them in the office and Renee will see that they get them. Thanks. Also, Cassie Blackwelder is planning to do a bulletin board on the east hallway of all our Christmas cards. Please be sure to give her one also!
